Been here B4, LOVED it, but unfortunately for me I'm too far away. Best Root Beer selection in all San Diego County. (See photos). Now pay attention Yelpers, they have the one on the wallet, another on the table as you walk in to your left and the third that you can plainly see, and the other is plastic Sealed, located by the cash register for the HOT offering i.e. Meatballs, Philly, etc. Clean and plenty of available parking. Always easy on the wallet and btw, the sandwich are absolutely delicious as well as the two salads I purchased, Mac. & Pot. Best sandwich spot in Lemon Grove 4 Sure!

I can't even think of a complaint. Sandwiches were so inexpensive for their size! My partner and I each got a full sandwich and easily could have shared one. The bread was soft and fresh, as were the veggies. The tuna salad was delicious and not fishy at all. Tons of old school soda options. Multiple Faygo options and Vernors in glass bottles are a Michigander's dream. Service was fast and friendly too. Parking was a breeze.

Excellent Italian sandwiches and very friendly service! Retro vibe feels like Chicago Italian.

One of my favorite foods is an Italian sub sandwich, so I'm always in the search for a good one. I saw a post on Facebook about Grove Grinder, read the Yelp reviews and decided to try this place out. As we all know the price for food has gone up in the past few years and for a sandwich to cost $15 seems pricey, but what you get it's well worth it. The quality of the meats is very good and you can tell from the pictures that they make what can literally be a torpedo! I didn't have a chance to weigh it, but it must have weighed 1 pound! To me one important part of a sub is the bread. There's wasn't bad, but I prefer a more traditional Italian style roll, harder or a more crusty outside, with a soft tender inside. This sandwich was so big that I was only able to eat half! But it's a better deal to buy a whole sandwich, it's only a couple more bucks more than the half sandwich.

Easy to find sandwich shop. Purchased two sandwiches from Grove Grinder last month while in Southern California. Staff were friendly and patient. The sandwiches were huge and tasty. Two people could share. The only thing I would suggest is that they add a little more meat to them. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Consistent quality and reasonable prices, combined with their mom and pop shop charm, make the Grinder our go-to lunch spot in Lemon Grove. It should honestly be designated as a town landmark at this point. I tried one of their hot sandwiches for the first time today and it hit the spot. I will always come back to my old friend, the Combo though!

After a morning full of errands I decided to try the Grove Grinder. I ordered their full turkey sandwich on wheat with all the fixings. Let me tell ya, it was a very good sandwich! Lots of flavor and super fresh. If you're in Lemon Grove and want a very well made and delicious sandwich, this place is it! Cool ambience and the staff is super friendly!

I love the concept--pizza on one side, incredible sandwiches and gelato on the other, all connected to a fully stocked Italian market. It's the kind of place where you can grab lunch, dessert, and authentic Italian groceries all in one stop. The staff was welcoming and friendly from the moment we walked in, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. The Meatball Sandwich is an absolute must-try packed with flavor and perfectly made. The Signature Sandwich was another standout because it's something different from your typical Italian sandwich. It had its own unique flavor that really sets it apart. I didn't get a chance to try the pizza this visit, but if the sandwiches are any indication, I already know I'll be back for it soon. The only small downside is that the parking lot is a little tight, especially during busy hours, but it's well worth the minor inconvenience. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. Great food, friendly service, fair prices, and a unique setup that makes you want to keep coming back. This has definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation. Highly recommend!

It's in a big plaza so parking is never really an issue. It's a chain banh mi spot, but one thing I will say is they stay open later than most local banh mi places, so if you're coming home late and craving one, this is probably where you're going. The left side is a drink cooler with various drinks and grab and go desserts. There are menus on multiple screens, ads everywhere, and it's just very busy on the eyes. Then on the right side you have the drink station and seating. If I'm being honest, I would not sit inside unless I had to. There is a shared patio outside in the plaza though and if the weather is nice, I would 100% take my food out there instead. Most of the tables inside were kind of dirty with crumbs and the trash was full, so it just made the space feel a little unkept. I waited in line and the cashier was very sweet. I ordered a strawberry tea and asked if I could adjust the sweetness, but since the sweetness comes from the syrup it would also change the flavor, so I just kept it as is. I also got the #11 special combination banh mi and asked for extra cilantro because if you know, you know. They take your order, you sit, and they call it out. I waited maybe 10 minutes, drink came out first, sandwich right after. The strawberry tea surprised me. I really thought it was going to be super sweet but it was more like a 6 out of 10 on sugar. Once the ice melted a bit it got even better. It tasted fresh, fruity, not artificial, and there were actual strawberry pieces in there. I really liked it and would get it again. Now the sandwich. It was solid. Not mind blowing, not the best I've had, but it did exactly what I wanted it to do. The bread was fresh with a nice crunch but not too hard. There was a good amount of mayo and pate, the meats were flavorful, and everything just worked. The pickled carrots and daikon could've had more crunch, they were a little soft, but the flavor was there and helped balance everything out. They do add soy sauce and you can definitely taste it. I'm not the biggest fan of that so I'd probably ask for no soy sauce next time, but that's just me. Also when I ask for extra cilantro... I mean EXTRA, because I felt like what I got was just a normal amount. Overall, really solid. Good sandwich, really good tea, and a spot I can see myself coming back to especially since they're open later than most places. It might not be the best banh mi in the area, but it gets the job done when you need it.
