Daisy Deli has taken over operation at Belly Belly. They are still using quality Boar's Head products, but have made Daisy Deli something of their own. For example, they make their own fresh chicken salad served on bread of your choice or on a salad. I had the chicken salad on toasted squaw bread. It comes lettuce, tomato, onions, Swiss cheese, and mayo. I opt for mustard, instead of the may. The chicken salad was very good and came with an abundance of white chicken. I liked this it offered a slight kick with the finely chopped banana peppers. The sandwich as a whole was very tasty. The chicken salad sandwich cost $11.95. The service was very friendly and welcoming. There's a good amount of seating inside and outside. They offering catering and daily hot soups.

Tried New Deli for the first time and really enjoyed it. We ordered the Inferno and the Cali Club. The Inferno had a nice kick to it with roast beef, turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo that tied everything together. The Cali Club was a great contrast: fresh and flavorful with turkey, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and a mayo on rye bread. Nice, soft, fluffy bread. Fresh produce. Good customer service. The lady was extremely nice. They have a vast selection of sandwiches and salad options, so there's plenty to choose from. Portions are generous, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality. We'll be back to try more!

"The Sandwich That Thought It Could" I was in San Diego today -- I go every couple of months -- and decided to try Daisy Deli since it was close by. It's a very simple setup: just one big square room, a few tables in the middle, and a friendly woman behind the counter. I ordered The Inferno, mostly because the roast beef, turkey, and bacon caught my eye. I asked for it on a wheat roll and toasted -- figured I'd get a warm, hearty sandwich. When it came out, it looked incredible. I mean, look at the pics -- stacked high with meats, crisp lettuce, thick tomato slices, melty cheese, and a nice crusty roll. It definitely had the look of a deli classic. But unfortunately... it kind of fell apart in execution. The wheat roll was super dry and didn't taste toasted at all. The turkey? Also dry like, no moisture left in it. The bacon had a burnt crunch that was a little too much for my taste. The roast beef was just okay, but it couldn't save it. And oddly enough, there was no mayo or mustard, which made everything even drier. I had to ask for some on the side just to make it edible. It wasn't a terrible sandwich, it filled me up, and it was a good size, but it just didn't taste good. All the ingredients were there visually, but the flavor and texture just didn't come together. So yeah... looked close, but yet so far.

A new sandwich shop that serves quality sandwiches! Ordered the Hot Pastrami sandwich and upgraded to the giant (additional half sandwich). The flavors are great. Meat is delicious. And portion are big. Great selection of hot sandwiches. Will return to try other sandwiches too. They also have a gelato bar ice cream pops.

Cali club and small antipasto salad

We are from out of town and found Daisy Deli with a quick Yelp search for a sandwich place. Ordered the Cali Club, Firey Chipotle and Antipasto Salad (photo does not include the firey chipotle), and everything was amazing! We will definitely go back! Price point is average. We spent less than $40, and the sandwiches are loaded.

We ordered. Large sandwich platter for Easter get-together and it was delicious! Such great value for the price! Norris and his wife are so friendly and the sandwich breads are so fresh. The meats are top quality Boarshead meats. Great portions and so fresh. I will definitely use Daisy Deli in the future for catering. Everyone enjoyed the sandwiches. Yum! PS They used to be Deli Belly - same great sandwiches just not corporate any more. Support this small business! Such a nice family :)

Hands down, one of the BEST sandwich spots I've tried in a long time. I got the Kali Mist, their spicy sub, and it did not disappoint. Great flavor, great sandwich, fresh ingredients and definitely something I'd order again. But honestly, the whole place is a vibe. The service was solid, the artwork is awesome, they have arcade games, and then I saw the Kool-Aid?! Are you kidding me?! For those of us who grew up in that era, it was pure nostalgia. I felt like my inner child had been handed a sandwich and told...Go have fun. And of course, they have their "special" snacks... and by special, I mean NOT special. If you know, you know. Good food, cool people, great atmosphere, and just the right amount of quirky. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out. Cheba Hut understood the assignment. P.S I would have taken a picture of the sandwich but I was too hungry

I picked the garlic bread one... wow wow wow! Delicious! The service is great. They have a full bar so you can eat your sandwich with your favorite cocktail or they also have fountain drinks and bottle drinks. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. I would recommend getting the medium size sandwich since the small one was too tiny for me.

If you're hungry, these sandwiches will not disappoint. The only miss for me was their BBQ Chicken Sandwich. [Grilled chicken breast, sweet barbecue sauce, melted provolone cheese] I was expecting bold, smoky BBQ flavor, but it was surprisingly sugary sweet and didn't stand out from an average bbq chicken sandwich. It wasn't bad, just only memorable because it was southern sweet tea sweet and not as tasty as the other items.2/5 stars The Down side.. Ordering time and Price $$ & BBQ Chicken Sauce. Order-ahead ,way ahead because even though its a great sandwich ,we ordered 6 total and we wound up waiting up to 1 hr 10 minutes for my order quoted at 30 minutes for pickup we stood by the counter for 30 mins still waiting for the food to be done after giving the 43 minutes before we even arrived for the pickup. Gourmet prices for a 8 inch sub, and that BBQ chicken sandwich take away 2 stars for total experience. THE LIQUOR STORE The attached liquor store was an amazing addition with an impressive selection that honestly could make BevMo blush. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. I met Chilean aka Chillin and he had many suggestions and nearly everything I was looking for--except my favorite Sandeman ,10-year 20-year or 40-Year Tawny Port or Sandeman White Port. No worries though, because the tequila, whiskey and Gin I wanted that evening were well stocked and easy to find, and well priced. 4/5 stars for no Sandeman Product in the entire store. IAfter reading about 30 5 star reviews of this place wanted to give this location 5 stars ...... so here's goes. Overall, Cheers Deli is well worth the visit for its incredible sandwich variety ,outstanding liquor selection and genuinely welcoming staff. I'm a little heartbroken about this because I had a 5-star review drafted up for this place that…read moreread: "Grove Grinder is the GOAT of neighborhood sandwich shops. Over the years that I've been coming here, I've been pleasantly surprised to find that the quality, portion size, and price point has kept pace with inflation and remains the best sandwich option in East County." I'm certainly not the longest-running customer of this spot, but I have been coming to Grove Grinder ever since I moved to the area four years ago. I kept coming back, wrote rave reviews in San Diego food-related social media groups and threads, bugged food influencers about them, and sent many of my friends and family their direction because I was that big of a fan. My husband and I have taken these sandwiches on roadtrips and plane rides, grabbed them in the middle of household chores, and picked them up for each other when the other is too tired or sick to cook. The reason why I'm ultimately knocking this review back and heavily questioning whether I should return has to do with a disappointing experience from my last visit with my husband that we now think was part of a larger pattern. The past couple of times we saw this person at the register, we used my name for the order. This time, though, my husband gave his name instead and the person at the register gave him some attitude about it and asked "You're *really* going with that?" I don't understand what their problem was with his name, but both the person in the front and the staff in the back refused to use it. They called out everyone else's names (and they usually call out mine when I order) and we noticed that our sandwiches were looking skimpy compared to how stacked we know they can come. My husband uses a nickname that might not be the name he was given at birth, but is a name he has used for over 20 years and might as well be his "real," name. We don't want to make assumptions, but most of the staff has always been at least a little cold towards us at best, slightly rude at worst, and even though this experience might seem relatively small to some, it's ultimately the straw that broke the camel's back. We suspect that their distaste for us might be politically motivated. We know it can't be personal because we've been nothing but polite. It sucks, but it seems to be that if they perceive you to not be "their people," your money isn't as green at their establishment, even if it spends all the same. I loved this place and felt lucky that they're close to my house, but feeling disrespected and like the staff are trying to fire us as customers is enough motivation to take our business elsewhere.

They were running two back-to-school sandwich specials with one for $10.99 and another for $16.99. Personally, almost $17-$20 for a sandwich didn't really feel like much of a special. The service was definitely the highlight of my visit. The cashier was incredibly friendly, offered great recommendations, and the woman working behind the deli counter was just as welcoming. I ordered the: *Jerk Turkey Sandwich: you can choose from white, wheat, sourdough, a roll, or an onion roll for an additional $3. I went with white bread. I was expecting more of a deli-style hoagie or Subway-style sandwich, but it ended up being served on two slices of sandwich bread. It tasted good, but it honestly reminded me of something I could easily make at home. There just wasn't much of a wow factor. The sandwich came with pickle spears and your choice of macaroni salad, potato salad, or another deli side. The side portion was fairly small, a couple of bites worth, but the macaroni salad was great. My total came to nearly $15, which felt pretty expensive for a sandwich on sliced bread and a small side. While I really appreciated the friendly service and enjoyed the food, I didn't think it offered enough value for the price. Overall, it was a decent lunch, but not memorable enough to make me want to return.
