Our daughters had pancakes and they were huge and really good. I ordered the Bird's Nest and wish I wouldn't have. The meat & cheese are served over hashbrowns that weren't meant to be crispy. I ordered them crispy and they did the best they could but it was mostly warmed hashbrowns that weren't crispy. I wouldn't order it again. The biscuits & gravy was good but the biscuit was a bit dry and the gravy seemed like it was made from a packet or was canned. My husband had an omelet and it looked really good. The restaurant is very kid & family friendly which is fantastic. The restrooms & restaurant is very clean. The staff is always really friendly and the cooks seem to be quick. I think the food and service are great and the decorations are unique. I haven't had a dish here that I haven't liked.

It took 30 minutes to place our food order. Then took another 30 minutes for the food to come out. It did look like they were short staffed, but a heads up for that would've been nice. We also had to ask to move to the patio bc there was a table being incredibly loud in the dining room, we couldn't have a conversation. If you have nothing planned to do for your day, you can spend most of it there. Food was pretty good, but not worth the wait in my opinion. Probably won't go back. read more

Nice little restaurant in downtown Delton. Home cooking at its best. I had breakfast, portions were large, and the flavor was excellent. They offered home-made bread if I wanted it, and of course I did. Bacon was delicious, eggs were cooked just right, and the home fries had just enough browning. My wife had the veggie omelette (small) and it was still pretty large. If you are ever in Delton, you must check this place out for breakfast. For a being dive-y neighborhood joint in the small-town of Delton, this is definitely as good as it gets. Came here for breakfast and at first, from the decor, I didn't expect much. But once my grilled cheese with ham and curly fries arrived... WOW! It was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Normally grilled cheese is way to greasy, but not at Grove Street Cafe! Sooo tasty. Everyone in my group loved what they ordered and all plates were empty by the time we left. I am seriously still craving that grilled cheese - all the way in Chicago... This has always been our go to place for meals instead of fast food. It is used to be good food at a decent price. Prices have gone up significantly and yet portions are smaller with poor service. Got mushrooms instead of mustard on a bacon cheeseburger. When I repeated ketchup, mustard pickles and onion. Got up charged on cheese when it was a bacon cheeseburger. Got up charged for the onion. They took the mushroom up charge off after I requested it. Would not take the cheese up charge off. Got barely any fries when I was it was an up charge of $3 on the already $11.50 bacon cheeseburger that I got charged extra for cheese and onion. My wife subbed goofy potato on her breakfast and the portion was small and way to crispy. Never got checked on after food was delivered. Upon food arrival requested water refill it was delivered with no ice. Won't be back read more

As far as mom and pop greasy spoons go, this place is a great specimen. Love this place. We own a cabin nearby and whenever we are there this place is a must. Love the grilled ham and cheese with fries, good burgers, the home made potato chips are great when warm and dipped in ketchup. I haven't been here in quite a while due to COVID, and decided I'd get a couple of things to go while I was out and about. When I walked in, there were 4 employees at the counter, but no one greeted me. Eventually I was able to get a menu, but then had to wait another 5 minutes for someone to take my order. The employees were busy on their cell phones and walking back to the kitchen to get food for THEM to eat - all in front of paying customers! It took 25 minutes for my food to come out. While I was waiting, someone from the kitchen and 2 of the wait staff came out with full meals of their own and sat down to eat. The person in charge was busy emptying the alcohol from the shelves and fridge and cleaning those areas. NO ONE was paying any attention to the few customers who were there. When I got the food home, I found that the soup that was supposed to come with my hot roast beef sandwich was missing, and there was nothing in its place. The roast beef was ok, but they've changed from REAL gravy to gravy from a can or packet - it was devoid of flavor. They used to have GREAT gravy that was rich and dark and delicious. Not anymore. I believe the mashed potatoes were instant as well, and were the consistency of paste. Definitely NOT worth the inflated price of $14.95!! The other thing I ordered was an omelet. The eggs were rubbery and inedible, the hollandaise I asked to be added was from a packet (I could TASTE the powder), and what little cheese there was had burned as was hard as a rock. Also, the egg part of the omelet wasn't around the fillings, it was on top of them, so all the fillings were on the paper on the bottom of the box. It was so bad, it all went in the trash. They used to have some things that were decent on the menu, but they've cheapened the food and raised the prices sky high. Another thing that really bothered me was that while it was clear that they were trying to keep the place clean, they have NOT kept things like carafes, pitchers, and other serving items clean. The carafes and pitchers were so stained that I would NEVER order a beverage from them. I worked in food service back when I was in high school, and there ARE ways to clean up most coffee and tea stains - and I was always taught that if you can't clean it, you have to replace it. Quite frankly, I can't ever see going back to this restaurant EVER. The food and service both are in the basement, and I don't trust the staff to keep things clean and sanitary. It's a shame. It could really be something if they cared enough to put the effort in and actually COOK REAL FOOD WELL. Also, where is the creativity on the menu? This menu is almost identical to the menu of another restaurant just down the street - though the cooking of the food is quite different (neither is good). read more

The food has went downhill in the last few weeks, and now even the Friday night fish fry was disappointing. Nice place fairly clean and locals were friendly. It seemed to us that locals were getting food before us. Waited 35 mins for food as others came in after us were eating. Waitress was fantastic and was trying her best. When we received food wife's food was cold mine was piping hot. I the got hot beef special and she got BLT. We Ask for her fries to be replaced and waitress was right there. The owner/ manager was there never said a word to us about the service even when checking out. But waitress said in front of her sorry for the Long delay. We will not go back but have to say it's not because of the waitress. read more

Been here a few times and if you have a couple of hours to waste then this is the place for you. Service moves at an iceberg pace. The last couple of times we visited the quality of food had gone down. One last chance for them to make an impression, good we had hoped. Wrong, arrived around 9:40 am Sunday the 5th, took 10 minutes to get coffee and another 15 to place our order. Place was pretty empty for the time it was, usually busy. We continued to sit there and watch a few other tables fill up as we sat with empty coffee cups. Then it started to happen, One table received their food before us after we've been there for 30 minutes. That's ok though because when he opened his omelet all the shredded cheese was still whole not one piece was melted. After about 10 minutes he had to walk it back to the kitchen himself cause the waitress was nowhere to be found. Then another table was served before us and they arrived after the guy above. After another 15 minutes went by the gentleman's omelet came back out and it was the same omelet that he received the first time, they just nuked it. We couldn't believe what was going on. I got up and went to the counter to see about our food, The lady standing there ask if I needed to be seated and I said no, we've been here for and hour now and before I could even ask about our food she turned away from me and started talking to a gentleman sitting at the counter.
