He was pleased with the variety of menu items but no milk alternatives to have with coffee. He enjoyed vegan chorizo breakfast burrito and ate every bite. I had a sandwich with Ope burger, great veggies, pineapple, melted cheese and spicy Serrano sauce. Delicious and filling. Had tomato soup with it which was thick and full of tomatoes and onion but was only lukewarm. My partner had club sandwich and delicious onion rings. He couldn't finish his sandwich so had great leftovers. Setting was pleasant and clean. Ample parking. Great coffee. Friendly capable service from Delaney and her coworker. A Hole in the Wall in all the best ways. This place very much feels like a small town cafe. In addition it has a pinch of WMU flair. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger ($11.63). The burger is stuffed with BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese, topped off with more BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese and bacon. I made a substitution of Chipotle Bbq sauce instead of regular. This may have been the best burger I've ever had. Absolutely Top 5. Maybe not the largest burger, but it's mighty tasty. The fries were also very good and crunchy. The service was excellent and everyone was super friendly. Overall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely! That burger was amazing. I've had Studio Grill on my list of places to try in Kalamazoo for quite awhile, so I was excited to stop in recently while in town. The menu is large and includes breakfast favorites, lunch items, and a vegetarian/vegan menu. They're known for their stuffed burgers, but it was pretty early on a Sunday and breakfast is my favorite meal. I ordered the Studio omelette (Bacon, Swiss cheese, sautéed onion, green pepper and tomato) with a side of their homemade serrano pepper sauce. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything looked good. At first I thought the portions seemed kind of small, but after I ate everything, I was completely stuffed! The omelette was nicely cooked with no browning, which I really appreciate. I'm not a huge omelette person so it was nice to get one that was closer to a French omelette rather than a big fluffy omelette you usually would see at a chain spot. The potatoes were quite tasty, which was also great because I find they can be hit or miss. I'm super glad I ordered the side of the serrano sauce - it added a big hit of spice to everything. The heat isn't overbearing but it definitely builds. I actually ended up buying a jar of it to give to my brother as a gift. Our server was polite and quick with refills, and I appreciated seeing the owner (or at least I assume it was the owner) out there helping serve and bus tables as well. At the cash register I saw some treats from 13 Cookies that I'd overheard someone talking about so I picked up a few of those - they were delicious! I'm definitely keeping an eye out for them next time I'm in the area. Nice little breakfast/lunch spot with vegetarian options and something for everyone. The space isn't huge so there is likely a wait during peak times, but I'd go back. read more

A small local restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. it's open seven days a week from 7 AM until 2:30 PM (no dinners). They have a great selection of omelettes and other breakfast food, which is available all day, including very interesting cinnamon roll and blueberry muffin pancakes. They also do very nice salads and a great selection of unique hamburgers and serve their homemade raspberry and strawberry jam. I stayed in Kalamazoo all of last week, eating lunch there every day, and was never disappointed. I had five different omelettes (the Painter's Sink was my favorite - think loaded with everything), and the sausage hash was also excellent (they feature unique combinations such as chorizo hash). The staff is very friendly and the owner is very attentive, having stopped by the table every day we were there to make sure everything was satisfactory. I have to go back for a couple of days at the end of this week, and will absolutely be eating lunch there both days! read more

On my first date with my girlfriend, in a city we weren't that familiar with, we were seeking out somewhere tasty to eat. Studio Grill was close to our hotel and seemed to have a very tasty menu. Just a short walk away and it was obvious to both of us that we'd made the right choice going there. Phenomenal breakfast food (bring your appetite for the pancakes!), attentive and friendly service, and just an all-around wonderful place to take those you love and care for to show them you love and care for them. Burger, yes please. Stuffed burger, um, is that even a question?! I have been to Studio Grill twice now. Once to have breakfast and once for the famous stuffed burgers they are known for. Breakfast - Sausage hash. I loved it. Flavors were on point. My only complaint is the amount of gravy on things. It was WAY too much. I would recommend asking for light gravy or having it on the side so you can decide. My partner I was with had the worst experience with there being so much gravy, it was almost inedible and we had to share my dish - - totally fine - - Lunch: Burger - This burger though, The Outlaw, changed my mind which is the reason for my 4 star review instead of 3. The beef is juicy and a decent portion. This burger was stuffed with Jalapenos which I thought could be too much BUT because the meat is juicy and gets cooked fully, it gives the Jalapenos just enough heat to soften them so they are not completely raw. And I must say even with the addition of the pepper jack cheese this comes with, it really wasn't that spicy. I loved it. **The fries come with the burger!** The fries are amazing! They have the coating on them that allow them to be EXTRA crispy. If I am recommending, I would say, stick with what they are known for, the stuffed burgers. read more

My second time in KZoo and my second time at Studio Grill. After a late show at the State the nights before, both times, I felt like Studio Grill's breakfast has saved our lives. Well, our hungover lives that is. Our first visit we came right at breakfast prime time and were asked to wait at Michigan News next door (this was great because we LOVE book stores and were happy to find this little gem). They came over to let us know our table was ready, so we got to get a couple of books and calendar then get delicious breakfast, hells yeas. Our second trip we came at the end of the breakfast rush and got to be seated right away at the counter. Our most recent meals were again just as delicious as the year before. i went for an omelette and america fries, which were shredded style hashbrowns. Like the previous year, I added the two pancakes. Let me just say, you CANNOT come to Studio Grill and not get at least one pancake. I don't care if it's to share but you just gotta do it. They are so fluffy and perfectly cooked. I just might have ended up eating more pancake than veggie omelette ,but whatta you do. My guy got the breakfast biscuit slather in sausage gravy and bacon and cheese and it was a messy pile of yum. pro tip: He ordered the american fries and dumped those on top for the win. We both loved both of our meals and look forward to returning when back in KZoo. read more

This place is good! We went for breakfast and had excellent service. First, we had delicious lattes. We split a sausage hash dish, which was definitely a large portion enough for two. We were able to get a couple fried eggs on top for a small upcharge. The side of cinnamon pancakes was also delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely return. We were driving back to Chicago from Ann Arbor looking for a diner, so happy we ended up stopping here! Our group of 5 shared the Cinnamon roll pancakes before our lunch and it was gone in about 3 minutes... they had a great texture, light and fluffy and didn't really need any syrup with the cinnamon. Service said the Canyon Burger is what made them famous so I ordered it and loved it. I'm a big fan of a burger with a fried egg and I had never had one with jelly on it-- it worked very well. Cajun fries were also a great choice. My friends ordered the hot chocolate too and it looked amazing. Seems like the perfect place for breakfast/lunch if you're stopping in Kalamazoo. read more

We stopped by here for lunch today - I was visiting friends in Kalamazoo this weekend and they've been here before for brunch, but never the stuffed burgers, which sounded delicious. I ordered the Lee's Old Classic, which was a burger stuffed with mushrooms and American cheese - I love all things mushroom. It was tasty but a little plain - it could have benefited from some pickles. It was topped with Thousand Island dressing too but I couldn't really taste it. For a small upcharge, you can get Cajun fries, onion rings, or sweet potato fries instead of plain fries, so I opted for onion rings. They were delicious, and came with a spicy dipping sauce, it tasted like a horseradish/ranch combo. You only get 4 or so, unfortunately, though. Waitservice was fine, too - they close at 2pm on Sundays, we showed up around 1:20pm and it was about a 25 minute wait, but they let you browse the bookstore next door and then the servers run over to notify you when your table is ready, which is great. I'd come back here again when in the area! Others at our table ordered a PB and bacon burger, which was interesting; one with jalapeño and grape jelly; and another stuffed with blueberry jam. read more

This is a little diner with a big appetite! We walked in and the place was packed full of hungry and satisfied people. Because it's so small we were asked to wait outside or next door at the bookstore. I thought that was a really cool option, especially when it's chilly out, to increase foot traffic at a neighbor business. Once invited back inside we were placed near the kitchen, so we got to hear the loud, "Order up" before servers walked out with armfuls of plates. I loved how everyone was always busy. We ordered a stuffed burger, so cool. They have an entire selection of burgers jammed full of delicious stuff. We went the avocado route and added mushrooms as well as a fried egg. We informed our server we would be splitting it when placing the order. While waiting for our food we observed the plethora of art all over the walls, which you can bid on! Super neat, as it ensures a rotating collection while supporting local artists. When our food was dropped off it was already neatly cut and split between two baskets. A thoughtful action so we did not have to worry about struggling with butter knives and asking for additional plates. The burger was juicy and filling, the fries had a light breading on them, which I enjoyed. Although we asked for the mayo on the side it came both on the burger as well as the side. I simply scraped off the excess and did not need to use the side. The burger was stuffed full of sautéed onions and Swiss cheese, then piled high with more onions, Swiss, avocado, mayo and we added our delicious mushrooms and egg. I found the egg a little much and donated it to Josh, he happily accepted. After our meal we had a little room for a sweet treat. They do not carry cakes or pies but have a selection of ice cream. We grabbed a to go cup of, Hollywood, I think. It had chunks of cookie dough and large swirls of fudge. We were quite happy and intend to return if we're back in the area. read more

Everything was cooked well, and great flavor overall. Very standard meal, but it was high quality. The food came out super quickly as well. My friend got the Reuben, and I took a bite. I found Studio Grill on Yelp on a business trip to the Kalamazoo area. Was looking for a highly rated spot that offered some healthy options. Cutting to the chase: I'll be back. Highlights - Server was super-friendly and checked back three times to make sure everything was "magically delicious." Her words. Everything was indeed delicious. - Owner stopped by also to ask how things were, and stayed for a short chat, during which I learned that they get all their bread and buns from a local bakery. The marble rye bread I had was outstanding. Thick, tasty, and had perfect texture. - Quick. I was in and out in half an hour, which was important today. I had the omelette of the day, egg white with Italian sausage, mushrooms, spinach and feta. It was perfectly cooked. Not runny and not brown. As mentioned, I had the rye toast and could've probably finished half a loaf of it. The fifth star is reserved for my next visit when I sample one of their burgers. read more
