We were seated in a corner spot by a bucket and a mop and a public used bathroom. Staff would walk past us with buckets to bring down to the basement right behind us. Really don't think this should be a table option. Food was edible, nothing exciting. Staff started vacuuming right near us as we were eating. Went to drink my water and my lips met a spider on the edge of my cup. Had to spit it out. Staff was fine. There was a whole dispute with the party before us saying that they couldn't be seated if their whole party wasn't there yet, even though they kept a saying that they were all present. read more

We came in for Sunday breakfast and were initially seated as a party of three. Two more friends arrived about 15 minutes later, and we were told they couldn't join our table. The restaurant was not busy at all, and the booth we were in could easily have held four people, plus a chair on the end for our fifth. Despite this, they said no. I watched them seat another party with two adults and a high chair at the end of the table -- clearly the same seating arrangement would have worked for us, so it didn't appear to be a fire code or safety issue. We chose to give up our table and wait for a larger one. While waiting, we briefly brought our drinks to the lobby, but were told they couldn't leave the table, so we returned them and waited again. Awkward, but manageable. Once reseated, service was inattentive -- I was passed twice for a coffee refill even after trying to get attention. Not terrible, but noticeable, especially since it wasn't a busy morning. The food itself was good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere and our company. Overall, decent breakfast, but the combination of inexplicable seating rules and inattentive service makes it unlikely we'll return. read more

Not very many opt for breakfast in Hastings but we found this one and we're not disappointed. Service was always good and the food was also good. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary food wise but we ate there 3-4 times while hunting in the area and had good experiences every time. Recommend. read more

Fall color tours are a must in SW Michigan as we all say farewell to Summer and her right fair greenery. We drove to Hastings, Mi via Chief Noonday road and our Fall color cravings were satisfied. When we rolled into town we chose the Riverwalk Cafe for a quick lunch near the Titabawase (sp?) River. The cafe is a modest and attractive blue diner that seems to attract blue collar folks which is a good sign of solid food comfort. My SO chose the Classic burger while I chanced the cafe's Rueben. Our friendly waitress promptly took our order and we turned our gaze beyond a wide window to the color riot surrounding us. Our sandwiches were good. Hamburger was well done and could have benefitted from some medium-rare juiciness. My Rueben contained chunky corned beef that was claimed to be house smoked. The lightly applied smoke did not conceal the great taste of brisket! Our generous portions of house made chips were tasty and mindfull of a togo box. We took a moment to cross the street to gaze at the passing waters and take our ease for a moment then moved on to the next adventure! SWEET! read more

My food and my waitress were great! But I did feel uncomfortable with the fact I came with just me and my kids and my husband called me and asked if there was room to join. There was an extra seat open at my table so I said yes. A different server then approached me and said next time if my party isn't all here yet I shouldn't have been seated. I told them they were all here I didn't know my husband would be joining me it was a last minute decision. The server then told me well my server is now being yelled at about it because if the party wasn't all here I shouldn't have been seated. I stated again I didn't know my husband would have been joining me and that I was sorry. Made me very uncomfortable and I wanted to just tip my waitress and leave but I stayed anyways feeling uncomfortable. read more

Came on a Saturday morning, did not have to wait much longer than 15 minutes and got our food right away .The food was very good. I got a meat lover's omelette. The homemade strawberry jam was great! Service was great too. My only disappointment was that the coffee tasted like an ash tray, it was hard to drink. read more

Stopped in for breakfast last Sunday - our own bad timing had us coincide with the after church customers. Place was packed with a wait to get in. I tried the Southern Benedict. The poached eggs were overcooked, as the yolks were cooked solid. Quite easy to do when a kitchen is as busy as it was! The sausage gravy was NOT the typical all gravy with no sausage. It was great, although it could use a little sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes. The hashbrowns were good. The biscuit base for the eggs was good. My husband had the Meat Eater's omelet. He says it was very good. The rye toast was great marble rye, but was merely warmed, not toasted. Another shortcoming that can be attributed to being so very busy right then. It cost a bit more than a diner breakfast, but it also has fancier menu items than a diner. We will be back. read more

Tried it for lunch . I had the chicken sandwich with coleslaw. It had HUGE BREADING around chicken with a bit of coleslaw. I picked off the entire heavy breading. I would not recommend this at all. Service was good, new updated restaurant decor was nice. Don't think we will be back. read more

i went here yesterday afternoon and let me just say, this visit single-handedly saved my life. i walked in not expecting much, but sat down and gave it a try anyways. i mean, i was reluctant to taste the product of the place who overtook my dearest mills landing. i had a hard time parting with it. but when the waitress asked how my afternoon was going, i knew that i had judged too harshly. the environment that i was seated in was absolutely perfect. the joy of this establishment has brought forth an incandescent glow. the birds are singing. i can see colors more vibrantly. my skin is clear. and why, you ask? all because of that damned turkey avocado wrap. i've never had anything better in my entire life. i wish that i could bathe in the fresh ingredients, i wish that i could turn it into a human, because if i could, then he would be my dream man. i would do dangerous things and trek the most treacherous of slopes, for just one more bite. i will be dining here again. and again. and again. until you get sick of me, and even then, i won't want to stop. my life has been forever changed. i wish to birth my eighth child in the kitchen of your establishment read more

Been going here for about 2 years and after today's incident I will not be coming back. Order has been messed up the last few times, making extra trips to go get the food I originally ordered. Maybe try someone different behind the phone that can actually comprehend and understand what the customer is ordering. We had a decent, though not phenomenal, breakfast today. A little on the expensive side, and they upcharged for every little addition (a dinky cup of salsa cost 50¢ and $1 for onions added to hash browns). For that reason it is unlikely we will return. read more
