We have gone to Growing Smiles for every visit since my 4.5-year-old daughter started needing dental care. The staff is welcoming and patient, the office is clean, and scheduling is easy. The exam room has a TV on the ceiling so kiddos are distracted while dental work is being done. Kids also get a token to use for a prize once the exam is complete. Standard cleanings have gone really well. Recently, my daughter fell off of her bike and landed on her face. Everything seemed fine until two weeks later when one of her front teeth started turning gray. We called the office and were reassured that all should be fine, teeth bruise, and as long as long as she is not in pain and her gum looks ok we can wait until her next exam which was only a week and a half away. Growing Smiles is such an amazing pediatric dentist! We just brought our son here for his first dental visit and were so pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Everything about the office is super exciting and inviting -- especially for a two year old! I don't think he felt an ounce of fear. The dental hygienist did a great job showing him the tools and being so patient with him. It warmed my heart to see how much they truly care about the kids. They have tvs on the screen, which I think makes for the perfect distraction. He flossed, got a cleaning, and then our dentist, Dr Shah, came in and looked over his teeth and gave us some tips/tricks for brushing with a two year old. This place is amazing. The staff is all helpful and kind. They charge you but insurance mails us a check to cover most/all of it depending on what we did. They're clear and up front about payments. We see Dr Ashley and she is so considerate and patient and knowledgable. She is calm and understanding when my kiddos get nervous and she works with them, talking to them to help them calm down so they are happy throughout. Every staff member has allowed the kids to be themselves and ask questions and move about and generally still be kids during their appointment. My kids would want me to mention the gold token they get at the end of every appointment - even when they had to take a break - with that token they buy a bouncy ball or a ring or some other trinket from the lobby. It's really important for me that my kids don't fear the dentist, and both my kids have no fear. My 7 year old has seen Dr Ashley every 6 months since he was 3 years old. My daughter has been going and watching her brother since she was born. read more

My kids beg to go to the dentist! The bouncy balls, the "kid money", the play area, and, best yet, a TV on the ceiling! From the moment you enter, the front office staff is welcoming and helpful. The dental assistant, highly recommend Tyler, know all the best train show, princess stickers, and right things to say (i.e. want me to show you on your stuffed animal first?). But, the best part, is when the dentist comes. Dr. Michael is a child whisperer. I recently took my 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old here in the last month and they both had their teeth cleaned and checked. I have been trying with my regular dentist for my 3.5 year old and she wouldn't let them see her teeth so that's when I started looking for pediatric dentists. My 3.5 put up a fight and it took 2 staff and the dentist to clean and check her teeth. For 1.5 year, I was able to hold her down myself while the dentist worked on her teeth. My favorite part is that they are electronic. I needed my 3.5 year old's dental exam docs for her school and they were able to send me a PDF form via email on the same day. My kids' large pediatric practice associated with Lurie's would take days before they send me a copy. My kids' favorite part is getting the golden coin to use the gumball machine for toys and trinkets. I am no longer anxious about taking my kids to the dentist, thanks for Growing Smiles. read more

The dentist told my wife that based on our insurance, a certain procedure will be 100% covered. This turned out to be false and we ended up with a bill that was 5x what we expected. Although they acknowledged that the doctor told my wife the incorrect information, they would not help with the cost. That being said, my daughter and wife were happy with how they were taken care of which is the most important thing. But, don't expect to get accurate insurance information from them. read more

So happy with this practice. We live in the south loop, but make the trip because we like it that much. This was the first time my 15 month old son ever saw a dentist. I was so nervous! But, the staff, technicians (Priscilla!), and Dr. Reena were fabulous. I can go on and on about how kind they were and comforting. They made sure my son felt comfortable with songs and a lullaby show playing on the TV. They showed him all the tools and gave him lots of little trinkets to keep his hands busy. At the end of the visit, he even got a nifty little certificate and a book about taking care of your teeth! He had pretty bad staining and Dr. Reena had to use additional instruments to clean it off and they were so accommodating. She was super rude and although this place may have great dentists, they will never be seen if the person who answers the phone is rude. They only take Delta Dental as an in network provider. Everything else is out of network and needs to be paid up front and later reimbursed. I can't rave about this place and the staff enough! I took my petrified 4 y.o in for a cleaning today, and though she screamed bloody murder during the cleaning, Miss Glenda (the hygienist) and Miss Kristen (the dentist) were amazing. They made me feel better about how difficult she was, and even managed to still get her teeth cleaned, though it took all 3 of us! :) However, for the slightly less petrified children (really, for all) this place is equipped! Cute and inviting lobby and toy area, tv's on the ceiling to play your child's favorite show while they get their cleaning, stickers, a coin after to "buy" a prize, plus adorable stories about your child's favorite fictional characters who have also had their teeth cleaned in their office. Though my daughter is a difficult patient, I felt assured she was getting attention and that I was in the right place.
