The location is very quaint looking, and has a lot of great space, however parking is horrible. They have only 7 parking spots in their parking lot, and the street parking is non existent, due to construction going on outside. I came here with a larger group of co-workers for lunch. We were able to order downstairs and they brought all the food up, however the food was not cooked all that well. This was a Wednesday afternoon (1130-1pm) when we arrived. Some of my party ordered the "Maybelle's Pastrami" sandwich...however it was extremely over cooked. 2 people ordered the '1200' pulled pork sandwich, however it was completely dry and it required a huge amount of extra sauce to make it edible! I ordered the TREYmendous burger Medium rare, however it came out well done. Since we were limited on time and there was a long line ordering food still, we were left to eat what we had, however it was one of the only times i didn't finish a burger. The staff was definitely quite nice and apologized for the food; however didn't do anything about it...which left a sour taste in my mouth for this location. Due to the business being very busy, they may have slacked on our orders, but it was enough for myself and our party of 10 not wanting to go back. The price point is also highly agreeable Service: 3/5 all of the employees were lovely but the service was questionable at best. I had a reservation for Sunday brunch, but there were no hostesses so we waited for about 15 minutes before being told that our table had been ready the full time. We were also told that somebody would come to the table to take our orders because we had reserved a table, but that never happened so we eventually just ordered at the counter. This place used to be excellent. I don't know what happened. I ordered a salad there for curbside because I may have Covid (on my way home from testing). When I called to say I was there to pick it up they told me to go ahead and come in the restaurant because they are short staffed. Kind of defeats the purpose of curbside. Especially when I'm just trying to keep others safe. They eventually brought it out but I got home to discover there's no dressing for the salad. I had to swing by Durham today and decided to pick up some food before heading back. I found Grub online and the food seemed appealing so I went ahead and ordered a breakfast plate with some coffee. I placed my order at 12 PM and got there a few minutes later. I ended up standing around in line waiting 45 minutes to get my food. When I finally got home to eat, I realized they had completely forgotten one of my sides and had gotten one of my other sides wrong. The only thing stopping me from giving this place one star is that the food I did get was tasty, as was the coffee. Quality wasn't the problem. The problem was I paid 14 dollars to get less food than what I paid for AND the wrong side after waiting for 45 minutes. I was really disappointed. I hope today was just a bad day for Grub and that your experience is better when you go, but I will not be returning for a while. read more

Excellent restaurant. Went here for lunch & got the breakfast platter. I don't like eggs & they were able to substitute them for grits. The breakfast potatoes are the best I've ever had. The inside is a bit small so we had to sit in their heated outdoor patio. the parking lot is also very small but we were able to get street parking. Tried this place based on Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint! The grit bowl was flavorful, the sausage was spiced well and the warm cinnamon roll was delicious! Tried a latte and a California Sunrise and enjoyed them both. The fruit was juicy and there was no melon mixed in (which made my husband very happy). The staff were all wonderful. Swung by for a quick dinner to check out the new addition to Durham. It is owned by the same partners that own Nosh, and in full disclosure I am not the biggest fan of Nosh either, though I like it fine. You order by waiting in line, but there isn't a lot of space for people to line up (unlike Bull City Burger) so it can quickly get out of the door. There was a lot of asking people in line to shuffle around to accommodate people that were coming into our group, because they wanted to make sure we ordered together. It was a fairly chaotic process that seemed to be leaving the crowd confused. I ordered the fried chicken salad and honestly it was a disappointing. Small strips of fried chicken and only scant portions of the toppings that were advertised. I didn't get to check out the beer garden upstairs which is probably going to be a place I enjoy going to, but as a dinner it wasn't the best experience. I do wish them the best, and given they just opened I am sure they are still working on their menu and trying to smooth out the ordering process. read more

Cowgirl bowl is the best breakfast dish I've ever had in Durham. So incredibly well balanced. I was shook when I took my first bite! The brisket in that bowl... WOWEE! Compliments to the chef. A hit! We had friends visiting us, so we chose Grub Durham to sit outside and grab a bite. Unfortunately, the upstairs deck was closed for a private party that evening, but the staff was friendly and we found a place to sit in their outside patio. The BBQ was delicious, beers nice & cold, and the prices were really good -- we all had something different for dinner and ate every last bite. ;) We'll be back for some more GRUB soon! read more

I have been back here twice since my initial review. First, food took forever and came out cold, with the pastrami lacking flavor. Second, I arrived at 145pm on september 17 and stood around waiting for someone to come to the register to take my order. We ate here for breakfast before heading over to Duke. The line to order downstairs was long until a manager came and took over and it starts to move. I had the grits bowl with the red sauce and turkey sausage and a fried egg. I loved everything about it, except the cheese grits. they seemed a little runny. I would have rather it had the potatoes instead of grits because it was too much. We sat outside as well and really loved that because the weather was great. It was a great atmosphere though. The food is amazing. Fresh, perfect portions. The pastrami sandwich was our favorite. The butter bean corn salad is DELISH! The mojitos were refreshing. My personal favorites are The Tiny and the Buttermilk Flapjacks, especially if you're looking for some heavy carb options! My only reservation with this place is that the wait can be crazy long on weekends, and it isn't unusual for the line to order at the counter to stretch around the entire restaurant. I ordered pancakes and my husband ordered eggs, hash browns, etc. they did have southern cooking options for those interested. You ordered at counter then chose your table and they brought your food to you. The place is bright and clean. There is seating available outside, inside, at counter, tables or booths. Several large screen tvs were broadcasting news on upcoming sporting events. My pancakes were light, fluffy and delicious! My husband enjoyed his breakfast as well. Portions were generous. I love this place!!!! The only bad thing about it is the parking!!! I had to park down the street just to make sure I didn't park in front of a tow away zone. So walking in you order your food and for dine in you get a cute chick table place holder and you find your own seat. I ordered a beet smoothie, and the Slammer. The food here is fantastic and affordable. I went once with a friend and bought my family back the next week. The food here is always fresh. I loved that my strawberry pancakes had cut strawberries cooked into them and not preserves or anything artificial. It's a nice atmosphere, however the only downfall is the limited seating. If it's a nice day you can sit outside if the few tables on the inside are occupied. If not, I would try someplace with a larger space. read more
