Traditional Filipino dishes [Vallejo CA]…read more We were in the area and were looking for a place to eat preferably serving Filipino cuisine since we have limited options in Roseville. Hubby found this restaurant and so we drove to the place. First thing you'll notice once you enter the restaurant is the warm temp inside - no AC but they have electric fans going on. To the right is a long shelf with a variety grocery items while the table seating is laid out in the center. TV was tuned in to a channel playing a Filipino movie. This is a "turo-turo" style food ordering, meaning no table service instead you go to where the dishes are cooked in large portions (which is towards the back of the restaurant) and you choose which ones you want. We ordered: Pork Sinigang - a little too sour for me but this is a classic Filipino soup with pork ribs, vegetables, and tamarind broth. Bistek (beef steak) - thin slices of marinated beef before smothered in a deeply savory sauce and topped with golden-seared onions Pork Adobo - classic Filipino dish of pork simmered in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic Kaldereta - goat meat stew I didn't try the kaldereta but all the other dishes were good and delicious. You will definitely feel the Filipino hospitality here. Street parking. Maraming salamat! Review #3929

Although the selection was limited, each dish was tasty. Based on the location I suspect this place services local Filipinos the convenience for some goods. The space has been configured with table to sit and enjoy the hot and flavorful eats. The owner was very helpful identifying the dishes and served us with a big smile. A neighborly customer boasted about the catering and especially the crispy pata dish. We look forward to stopping in again when in the area.

Just about everything here is made to order (fish, wings, pretty much the whole menu), so patience is part of the deal when ordering at the counter. If you're in a hurry, calling ahead or using DoorDash is always an option. For lunch, I ordered a 2-piece catfish with collard greens and candied yams to dine in, plus a chicken wing and fish combo with fries to go. One thing I really appreciated was that they didn't fry the to-go order at the same time as my dine-in meal. That meant everything was piping hot and fresh when I walked out the door. The catfish is my usual go-to and it never disappoints -- perfectly fried, well seasoned, and consistent every time. The kind of seasoning that makes you feel like someone's uncle back there is cooking from the soul. The collard greens are tender, flavorful, and always hit the spot. And the candied yams? Honestly more like dessert than a side -- sweet, comforting, and absolutely worth ordering. Yes, it can feel a bit on the pricey side, but the quality and flavor make it worth it.

Everything was cold and the fillets looked identical in both orders and they were not labeled. Ontop of that both orders were not hot or fresh out the grease the flavor was there but it was cold to the taste. And no corn bread after we asked for it in our order instead 2 slices of bread one for each order we could not make a fish sandwich with that . Im not sure wat the hype is about this place being fresh and hot we didn't experience anything like it i guess . I don't think ill be back .

The dish was unique and quite tasty. The lumpia shell thin and crispy, filled with a delicious salmon and crab concoction, and drizzled with sauce on top to add just enough flavor. The wontons are addictingly crunchy without any grease, and the sauces have a lot of sweet and savory flavors. But the portion of fish has shrunk significantly since I first ordered them about 3yrs ago while the price has moderately stayed the same, around $20. The most recent purchase was at this week's Nihonmachi Fair in Japantown in San Francisco. I was looking at other people's orders to see the portion size of fish. Well, I didn't want to look creepy anymore so I stood in line to buy my own. As I waited in line, I remembered the scant amount of fish when I got them at the Union Street Festival. But I enjoyed the flavors and textures. Well, I got about 6-7 small cubes of tuna. The avocado was slightly frozen, but I didn't mind that too much because of the hot weather. And the other flavors and textures were consistent like before. I know that costs are at an all time high, and the price point for selling food should be reflective of those costs, labor, permits, etc. And I know vendors are cognizant of what price points will be attractive to buyers. But seeing the small amount of tuna is still nonetheless disappointing. Yet, out of all the street festivals I've been to, I don't see a product similar to this one. So it's possible I'd order sushi nachos again, but maybe without fish at all since it's the cheaper price point. I may get more bang for my buck if I bought sashimi elsewhere to add to the nachos. Cash is king but they also take Venmo and credit cards.
