Wedge potatoes topped with bacon, a spicy chipotle aioli with a side of sour cream, guacamole, and salsa verde to make it the perfect appetizer. I loved the House Made Cioppino. You never know what you'll get when you order huevos rancheros at a restaurant. Crockett Covina was pretty good. The eggs were dithered in green sauce and were well prepared. There was black beans and guacamole with hash brown on the plate. The pickles onions were spicy and bright tasting. We sat at the outside patio which was pleasant. Portions are huge! The fish and chips (friends got it with soup instead) was not your ordinary 2-3 fillets in heavy batter. Instead, it was one huge fish battered in panko crumbs which gave a better crunchiness to it without being super heavy. The clamp chowder was not your Campbell's out of the can. It was creamer without being too rich. The tuna melt was good on ciabatta bread, but the filling kept falling out. The chef came out with cookies for the kiddos which was nice. Excellent food! Quality, taste, presentation! They take pride in everything they put out and have a diverse menu from pasta to ceviche, to Mexican. All of it good and good service too. My faves are the chicken enchiladas verde (3), goat cheese salad with or without Frilled or fried chicken served with homemade bread. Their fish n chips feature a long generous breaded filet with perfect fries. Finish off with the best brownies or chocolate chip cookies you'll find. 5 Stars - Worth Every Penny After the initial sticker shock, once the food arrived it was clear why the prices are what they are -- absolutely worth it. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and vibrant, the fish tacos were downright divine, and the Eggs Benedict was outstanding. Even the scrambled eggs were delicious, which says a lot about the care they put into every dish. We're so full we're heading out for a walk on a nearby trail to recover -- the best kind of problem to have after a great meal. What a lovely find on our over night adventure. We needed something to fuel our upcoming hike so this is where we ended up On the way out to the George Miller Trail. The only times I'm ever in Crockett is if I feel like hiking in either Crockett Hills (rare lately after a dog attacked me) or Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline (often because I can grab a cocktail at the Warehouse in Port Costa). Regardless I usually find myself driving past the town center except this time I decided to make a stop at this cafe that I last recall was a friendly taqueria named Judy's Place. That was a couple of years ago. Now it's become a kinda hybrid diner/burger/pasta place which certainly makes for a unique menu. I've stopped by a couple of times, and I have to admit the food fell a bit short each time. On my first visit, I tried the $13.99 Big Blue Wedge Salad, which was indeed a big plate with plenty of iceberg lettuce, crumbled blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, chopped green onion, and bacon bits. First issue is they don't consider the fries to be part of the order but rather as a side dish when they are literally part of the name! So you have to pay extra for any other side. Round Two of Crockett Cocina Review Two days after having Crockett Cocina I had return to try out the Fresh Clam Chowder. I will say that their Clam Chowder surely tops Boudin Bakery which also surprises me because they offer it in a bread bowl. I did love the Clam Chowder that was served at Crockett Cocina. Even the bread that was offer with the Clam Chowder was good! I can see Crockett Cocina being the place to be at when you are in Crockett even if you live there or visting. After getting a suggestion for a small restaurant in a small town of Crockett, I felt I had to check it out. Use your gps to get there because just getting off the freeway and trying to find your way to the restaurant is a little confusing. Crockett was known (a long time ago) for the C&H Sugar Factory. Crockett Cocina is next to a gas station and kind of near John Swett Highschool. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and it's very casual. You order at the front register and they bring the food to you. The service was very good. They are friendly and polite. The restaurant is clean and the decor is warm and inviting. The menu is eclectic even though the restaurant is kind of Mexican. They serve burgers, Mexican food, pasta, jambalaya, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, seafood ( fish n chips, cioppino, grilled salmon, calamari). I ordered the fish n chips which isn't like your typical battered cod. It's a big fillet that's floured, egged and panko'd so it's lighter. The portion was big and sat on a bed of fries(but you have a choice of fries, garlic fries, clam chowder). It comes with tartar sauce, lemon, and cocktail sauce. My wife had the street tacos which was delicious and you get three. I enjoyed the fish which came out hot and crispy and moist. I heard the clam chowder is good and I kind of want to try their cioppino. I definitely recommend this place since they offer such a diverse menu. They serve breakfast only on the weekends. I stopped by Crockett Cocina after work yesterday. I had this place in my places to try. The reviews and photos of the food was helpful in figuring out what I wanted to try. Crockett Cocina is a cute, small, hole in the wall type of restaurant. It's located on Pomona Road, right off I-80, in the seaside town of Crockett. There's street parking only. When I arrived, someone was leaving and was able to take a parking spot in front of the restaurant. I ordered the Js JR burger, garlic fries, and hibiscus aqua fresca. I 1000% enjoyed every bite and sip! I honestly have no complaints. The garlic fries were thoroughly cooked, hot, and had a generous amount of garlic. My burger was also thoroughly cooked, hot when served, and well seasoned. The hisbicus aqua fresca was refreshing, and almost tasted like grape juice. I ate in; my food was brought to my table when it was done. The man taking my order was helpful and was helping the staff cooking food as customers came in to either pick up orders or to place an order. The menus are on paper without photos, but, it's okay . Yelp had really good photos to help a sista out with deciding on my meal. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. I definitely will be returning!
