We heard about Village from the SF Chronicle article. Since it's right down the street we decided to meet a friend here before a show. The servicers were warm and friendly. We weren't clear if we needed to order at the bar or wait for our servicer. We ended up ordering from the bar. Upon leaving we did see a small sign, that says Order at the Bar and Bust your own table. I don't think we busted our own table... sorry . They may want to make that sign bigger and have a couple scattered around the space for clarity. We had already had dinner, so we just ordered the cookies which was awesome, my wife said it was too sweet for her but I loved it. It came out warm, which was a nice touch. The only thing that could have elevated it was some vanilla ice cream. When our friend came, she wanted a glass of bold red, but the red they had by the glass was a light red blend, she tried it but it wasn't what she was looking for; so we had to buy a bottle so she could get the red she wanted. I do wish there were a few more options by the glass because we were just meeting up and didn't really have time to finish a bottle, but we sent the bottle home with our friend. Overall, the space is nice, clean, modern and there's an outdoor area that will be really nice when it gets warmer. Our friend is from out of the area and she had a hard time finding the spot because it kind of looks like a house. This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and I am so happy to have another spot to go to in Vallejo.

Awesome spot. The vibes are on point, the wine is great, and the vinyl music sets the tone. Tony at the front is awesome and makes you feel right at home.

Every food item I had was amazing. My favorite snack was the olives! Sweet, crunchy, and spicy all at the same time. The servers were attentive and super sweet. The whole vibe in there was laid back and cozy. They have good wine prices in my opinion

So happy Village has opened! Sharing a wall with Personal Space art gallery (also high on my VJO favorites list), Village is already attracting Vallejo's diverse community of artists, writers, musicians, and other interesting, engaging people. The small plates, made with locally-sourced ingredients, are a real treat: pho-flavored potato chips were a delightful surprise (yes, tastes like the soup broth!); charred olives with chili crisp are a yummy starter with a glass of white wine; white bean dip is silky smooth and comes with a colorful variety of veggies to scoop it up; savory lumpia with lettuce wraps, sprigs of cilantro and mint, and dipping sauce have a nice, spicy kick to them; the cookie I had for dessert was big in size and flavor. They have a good selection of wines by the bottle, and two by-the-glass wines -- a white and a light red. I'm hoping they will expand their by-the-glass offerings, but I'm happy with the two they offer, and no doubt my friends and I will be sharing each others' bottles. I also enjoyed the house-made bergamot shrub from their non-alcohol selection. OK, yeah, so I kinda pigged out, but the prices were quite reasonable. Village's vibe is exactly what I was hoping for. Unlike bars, Village is the kind of place that I, as a woman, feel comfortable being there solo as well as with friends. It's a space that inspires conversations with strangers while also allowing you to quietly enjoy the scene and the music (all vinyl records, yay!) with your bev of choice. Plus the Village team are wonderful -- attentive, warm and welcoming. The kind of people I like to be around. It takes a Village -- yet another reason why I'm so glad I moved to Vallejo.

Starting with the Mt. Beautiful Estate Sauvignon Blanc, found this good. It's good, but not great. It's a decent wine but I think there are other more interesting Australian wines out there. The Rabble Rosé from Paso Robles was crisp with just an edge of tart. Like roasted strawberries, if that makes sense. And the Seaglass Riesling from the central coast is now a fave. It's a sweeter wine and a good end to a tasting, for sure. Glad I explored that one. It far exceeded my expectations. The vibe is good. The team is wonderful, caring and attentive, even if their internet went down and they weren't able to process cards quickly. They kept their frustrations focused on the tech and their attention on their customers. And the people who come in - there for a good time. This was our first experience here. We'll be back, for sure!

I was not allowed with my 5 month old baby to have a glass of wine in the patio. I was told there's a "no under 21" rule that apparently includes babies. That honestly didn't make sense to me. this is an infant, not even eating solid food yet. I've been to wineries in Napa with my baby and never had an issue, so this felt unwelcoming. This felt like a made up rule to protect non-mother customers, and Benicia is known for that. Horrible. What made it worse was how it was handled. The waitress(blonde, short hair mid-aged lady) came off rude and said, "no under 21, sorry--unless it's a dog haha," and then told me I could go to the taphouse on the corner. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. I even tried calling afterward to speak with a manager, but no one answered. Overall, it left a really bad impression, and I don't feel comfortable coming back after this.

When I was with a banquet group 2 years ago, I again requested inclusion of Eggplant Parmigiana to no avail. The main reason for 2 star D- rating is my experience this past Mother's Day. I was again with a banquet Mother's Day group, same group of people as before. The salmon was a bit above adequate & the service was OK. The salad was decent but again a skimpy amount. I made the best of their dessert choices as they didn't have any of my favorites. What I really didn't like was the exorbitant price: our bills were $84.00 each for a chintzy amount of adequate food! They might as well have said, "This is a stick Up!" Their priority is clearly profit over & beyond Excellence & Quality. As I don't eat a big amount, I typically have left overs to take. Not so here. They gave the bare minimum per quantity, we had to negotiate practically to get enough bread! Bread! We'll guess what. They won't be getting any more of my "bread" and in fact I'll encourage the organizers of the family to pick somewhere else next time with a more reasonable cost or at least commensurate quality for the price. Nice view there still...Too bad I'll just hike past there...

I really enjoyed my scallops and the roasted vegetables that came with it. Well prepared and fresh. My mother did not finish her entrée. She felt that the Mahi Mahi was too salty. However, she had given up salty foods for awhile so it is more than likely a change in palate for her. They were out of creme brulee so we skipped on dessert. Very nice view. Nice old restaurant with great character. I would give this place another try to see if it was just an off day or not.

Unfortunately, the festival did not serve any liquor so we decided head down to the local bar before we enjoy the festival and all the food it had. We walked into the bar, and it felt like the establishment hasn't changed a bit. The ambiance is the dark speakeasy bar feeling. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a super nice bartender who made some delicious drinks! Back in the day there used to be brunch and a bigger food menu but they have stopped that. The buffet I guess was a waste and a lot of food didn't get eaten. They used to have a make your own Bloody Mary bar, but didn't see that either. The only reason why it's not a 5 star is the old furniture... I used to love sitting on the sofas for a cozy feeling but they look pretty beat up now... just makes things look a bit dirty. We ate two servings of bread an do bitter while we waited for the entrees. The filet was tender and seasoned well in addition to being cooked a bit over medium, had a large portion of spinach and mashed potatoes, and came with the same red wine reduction sauce as the mushrooms which we found a bit odd. The minutely seasoned halibut has to have been the tiniest piece of fish we've ever seen served and only had six small potato quarters and like 6-7 stalks of asparagus with it. Overall, we ate everything because of the small halibut entree, but will most likely not return. I suggest the owners have more than one server on a Friday night, For everyone's sake.

You start off with a sliced bread thats warm straight from the oven and is presented to you with a secret homemade sauce that was super delicious. If you love garlic like myself, you will be scraping that sauce till its gone. We got the calamari to start with and share and I think that was the best calamafi I've ever consumed. I usually dont like the firm texture and fishy flavor of some calamari but this was super tender and super flavorful without the fishiness. A really great starter to share. Their mussels were HUGE though so I got kinda turned off from that (just a personal thing). Everything else was amazing and you also get a choice of soup or salad before your main entree which is a great format for eating.
