I just tried Grunow's Kitchen for the first time an hour ago. It was so good that after I gobbled down my food I just had to jump on here to let you know how good it was. I got the steak kabobs and my two sides were mixed seasonal vegetables and broccoli. The steak kabob flavor hit me hard with the first bite. The meat was seasoned so well! The two sides were delicious and I liked the variety of the mixed seasonal vegetables (yellow squash, zucchini, grape tomatoes, red bell pepper, and asparagus). It's cute that they even have a garden on the side of the restaurant. I think I will come here weekly because I can't wait to try every dish that they have! read more

We tried Grunow's on a whim. Didn't know what we wanted for dinner. My wife was more skeptical. We were pleasantly surprised. My wife LOVED her chicken wrap. "It was to die for" and I really enjoyed the Parmesan flounder. Sweet Potato fries were awesome especially with the special sauce. I dined here with a friend last week and all the food was amazing. We started with the portabella appetizer, thinking it was just going to be one portabella, but it was 3! I dont even like mushrooms normally, but it was delicious. I ordered the blackened salmon for my entree and the seasoning was so good it made my mouth water with every bite. It came with rice, which I wasnt expecting, PLUS 2 sides. I was so full and almost couldn't eat it all. The grilled veggies were cooked perfectly and the sweet potato had cinnamon and a honey butter on it. So good!! My friend said her beef kabobs were perfect, not chewy at all. Shrimp and chicken Alfredo was to die for, perfectly cooked chicken and the entire dish was well seasoned. It has fresh asparagus, mushrooms and red peppers. It was a slow evening when we arrived. First time there. Had the steak kabob with sweet potato. Bites of steak, pineapple, green pepper & onion were on a skewer. 2 small kabobs were served on a small serving of rice. The steak was really tender and very good. Wednesday special was $9 sandwich/melt. The other meal was the CBT sandwich. It was enjoyed and had fresh ingredients. I could write a book about how happy I am about Grunow's kitchen! The food was absolutely amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious! I asked if two menu items were gluten-free, and I was told the ENTIRE menu is gluten-free! You have no idea how happy that makes somebody that has a gluten allergy! I got to eat a delicious cookieh,s bread pudding, have a bite of my kids pasta gotand I to eat parmesan crusted flounder which was delicious, and some delicious firecracker shrimp! They were all gluten free!! My kids even like the cauliflower mac and cheese!The staff was very friendly and attentive! The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The only thing that comes to mind when thinking about this restaurant is their furniture, and oh boy it was nice...but that begs the question, if the only thing comes to mind about a restaurant is their furniture then obviously that doesn't say much about their food. My wife ordered the eggplant entree and they said it came with pasta. We thought it came with pasta as a side, but the whole dish was pasta with tiny little pieces of eggplant. Also the entire entree was served in the small salad-sized Corelle bowls, which is not acceptable for something that costs $14. WOW! Entire Menu is Gluten and Nut free and 95% organic. The food is delicious and plentiful. The owner came out to say hello which was a friendly touch. One of our guests has celiac disease -- so this is a perfect location -- and everyone really enjoyed their meal. Even the simple side salad with a roll was amazing. The sign is a little difficult to see -- but this restaurant is worth looking for. Cute interior and beautiful garden exterior -- and even the bathrooms were clean and beautiful. Amazing wonderful fresh food. We are on our boat here in Yorktown. We ate two nights in a row, what we had: Shrimp Cobb Salad, amazing, wonderful mix of greens, shrimp fresh and cooked perfect. Balsamic dressing fabulous. Grunow's Club, lot's of meat, layered wonderful bread! Side salad, best we've ever had, nice greens mix, grape tomatoes etc. Then next night, Grilled Portobella...wow, potato soup - so much cheese and chunks of potatos; Grilled chicken salad, balsamic again of course. They are promoting fresh products but their shrimp scampi shrimp were frozen. For the area this is not the best choice to use frozen. Also, prices are high for the amount of food you get. It's ok to want to be healthy, but you have to give people food. If I'm going out to eat I want something one I can't cook at home and two worth my dollar. This place at the moment wasn't it. I would suggest switching from micro-greens for a garnish to chopped herbs. Micro-greens are hard to clean and pose a high risk for food-borne illness. Lastly their dishes they serve food on are something I would use in college not what I except at a restaurant with the price tag as theirs. They have a great concept, but need some work. read more
