We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, and this spot was recommended as a casual, walkable option, so we decided to check it out. I love a good wing place, and based on the reviews, this one was known for its wings. I ordered 6 Habanero, 6 Jamaican dry rub, and 6 Lemon Pepper. The Habanero wings had just the right amount of sauce without being soggy. I also asked for their 911 sauce to dip my dry rub wings in for extra heat. We shared an order of fried mushrooms and a plain salad. Since it was the off-season, the service was excellent, with lots of teamwork among the staff. A quick heads-up--there's only one bathroom, no outdoor seating, but plenty of parking. Overall, I'd definitely come back and would love to try their sandwiches and burgers next time! read more

The wings are outstanding, they can't get any better! I love the relaxed atmosphere of this place, the employees are also great. It is nothing fancy but the atmosphere is very comfortable. We enjoy the Boro, whether we come for dinner or just drinks. Usually we order boneless wing baskets, which comes with fries and coleslaw for $13 or burgers which are less than $12, depending on what you get. We've only had one instance of not so great service, but the many other times have been consistent. We enjoy sitting at the bar when we can because the people are so friendly, bartender included. We were kind of upset (our fault) to walk in when they were shooting darts, because the bar area was packed and there was nowhere to sit. We sat at a table and the ambiance wasn't the same. This is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat. The wings are to die for...get Hot Works sauce and you can't go wrong. The Go Bleu balls are fabulous. There isn't a thing on the menu that isn't delicious. they make great Boli's, burgers, and have a fabulous chicken cordon Bleu sandwich. Service is always on point, given with a friendly hometown feel. In May of 2017 I lost my mother, I got the call at the Boro minutes after Dee took our order. She was so compassionate and kind-hearted as I told her I had to cancel our order after the devestating news. That was a Friday morning. Two days later, as my mother-in-law was in town to help with the pending funeral preparations, she insisted my husband and I go out and take a break from the emotional hell I was partaking in....we ended up at the Boro. The moment I walked in the door Dee immediately came over, gave me a hug, and sent her condolences. The bartender and I began to talk and she had lost her mother six years prior. It was so comforting to hold a conversation with her and feel like I wasn't alone.....to this day over a year later....when entering the restaurant we all say hi and it feels like home. They may never know how important they were to me in that moment, but I do, and it keeps me coming back. We love this place. read more

I've never been here and I was so excited to finally try it. I am a big fan of "Dive" bars because they usually have really good food and good prices. I decided to try the wings and a beer because I wanted to see how their wings compared to other places. They were okay. The prices were good for what you get but I don't think the wings were AWESOME though they weren't bad. They were meaty and crispy but I'd like them to be a little more crispy. The sauce options were great but the flavors I tried, along with the others I tasted from my table, to me, were a little bland. The restaurant looks like a dive bar but is very clean and more spacious than I thought. The service was friendly but reallllly slow. It took us forever to get our food and longer to get our check. There weren't many people there when we were there so I am not sure why this was. Overall a decent place, not one I'd run and jump to, but not something I'd run from. Gotta be honest, some of the negative reviews of this joint had me and my wife worried. And, I must say, they couldn't be farther from the truth. Went here last night based on the fact the wings here got voted best in PA on MSN.com and we were gonna be in town visiting family. We arrived around 6pm. The lot was full but we procured a space quickly when someone else left. So that's something to keep in mind, the parking lot is small. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our drink orders and brought them back quickly. We threw in an appetizer order (Boro fries, fried pickles) and told our waitress we needed a few minutes more for our order. Our waitress came back and we put in our order (shrimp basket, cheese flatbread, 6 mild wings, 6 lemon pepper wings, 12 hot wings, tomato n crab soup, sm Caesar salad). Our waitress was thorough and asked if we wanted different sides/sauces with the different orders, which I appreciated. She came back almost immediately with our apps and soup and salad. The apps were hot and tasty. The salad was cold, fresh and crisp. The soup was amaaazing with lots of chunks of tomato and a nice crab flavor in the background. Our meal was equally satisfying. The shrimp basket was huge. The pizza was reportedly delicious. I couldn't decipher exactly what my daughter was saying about it with her mouth full of pizza. Now the wings. Some of the best I've ever consumed. They're huge and crispy and done just right. The mild wings were almost too hot for my MiL, but she said she liked em. My wife got Lemon Pepper and said they were delicious. My Hot wings were excellent. Sauce was awesome. Perfect heat. These wings sit right up at the top my list. My wife even had to concede that the sauce matched her favorite hot wings at Captain Larry's in Baltimore. Our waitress stopped by several times to check in. She was never pushy and always available. Around us were groups of co-workers and friends getting together after work, a few other families and other regulars. I never felt unwelcome or uncomfortable. The staff was constantly buzzing around helping out customers, cleaning vacated tables and delivering orders. The place was clean and comfortable. Mix that with the amazing staff, great beer selection, and always tasty food, this is definitely my favorite go to bar in the burg and surrounding area. Apparently Boro's is not keen on interracial relationships. My wife attracted significant glares from those at the bar and the staff the moment we walked in and all the wait staff literally turned around to ignore us. After at least 2 minutes of having to stand in the entry way of the almost empty pub, a waitress finally decided to acknowledge us and told us we could sit in the back. After we finished eating our mediocre wings, another apparently regular patron who was very inebriated, came boldly back to our table. He slapped $50 on our table and then passionately offered profanity laced apologies on behalf of the restaurant. He said the restaurant and the local area do not like interracial relationships and asked if the staff were making us feel uncomfortable. He was very distressed and embarrassed by the restaurant's cold shoulder towards us. His heart felt yet volatile emotions caused us concern for our safety and seriously gripped my wife with tearful fear. We accepted his generosity, paid our bill with a generous tip, but left with haste to avoid any further contact with him or staff. We won't be back again. #RacismSucks read more

I was a bit disappointed with my last experience here. My boyfriend and I got a large order of wings for takeout, 36 wings, to be exact. We asked for them to be extra crispy, garlic parmesean and old bay flavored. It took about 35/40 minutes for the order to be ready. The wings didn't seem crispy at all, they forgot the old bay, and they only gave one container of ranch for dipping, which was definitely not enough for 36 wings. That being said, the wings definitely were still delicious, but it was disappointing to not get what was ordered. The price was definitely reasonable for the amount of wings as well. The bar area was pretty loud and rowdy like it was the last time I was there. Granted, I feel that's typical at most bars on the weekend. It took an unacceptable amount of time to get the attention of anyone behind the bar so we could pay for our order. I witnessed a bartender try to multi-task, which caused a pitcher of beer she was filling to start overflowing for a fair amount of time. Thankfully, dinner out with my husband for the first time since the birth of our son was not ruined by the experience, however I should have known to look elsewhere when we arrived and were unable to find parking. One definite positive, the service was pretty good. The girls were attentive and helpful. Given the parking situation, I thought the place would be crowded, but there was no wait for a table. We ordered 18 medium wings, 18 teriyaki dry rub wings, the stuffed pepper soup, fries and a couple of beers. The price of the wings are by sauce, so we couldn't do a larger (and therefore less expensive) order of wings and split the sauce, 1/2 and 1/2 the way we like to do at Underdog Sports Bar and Grill. It was my first time eating a dry rub wing. I liked the concept, but the teriyaki dry rub was not flavorful. It was almost like eating naked wings. Huge disappointment. The medium were good, but not any better than those at other establishments. The boro grill is my favorite bar / restaurant in Hummelstown. I frequent the establishment 1-2 times a month. The food is very good and the atmosphere is festive. I find the waitresses to be above average. TVs galore to watch your favorite game. They have always changed the channel for me when asked. Here is my breakdown. The bad. The parking is limited and you may have to park elsewhere and walk. This does get annoying at times but it is a popular hangout. The waitresses will only allow you to sit in the big booths if you have a party of 5 or more. A booth can hold 6-7 people. Not really a big deal for me but wanted to include this in the review. The good. The wings are very good and rate high in general. I prefer the hot and blue. Mmmm yummy if you like hot sauce mixed in blue cheese. Try the boneless wings as well. I was pleasantly surprised with the cheese-steak and fries as they exceeded my expectations. The real shocker is the Stromboli. 2nd best in the area.
