The Eagle Hotel is one of those places that does exactly what it should and does it well. While it's now owned by the Funk family (who have several restaurants in the area), the Eagle has stayed true to its roots. The menu hasn't been overcomplicated or reinvented, and that's honestly part of the charm. If you've been coming here for years, it still feels like the Eagle. We came with a group of eight, ordered food and drinks across the table, and everything came out impressively fast. Drinks were quick, food followed right behind, and nothing felt rushed or sloppy. The wings are a standout. They still do wing nights, and you can tell they take them seriously. They use Bell & Evans wings, which are locally sourced and it shows in the quality. We had the sweet heat bone-in wings, which were perfectly cooked with great flavor, and Thee FEHO boneless wings, which were also excellent. We also ordered the flying eagle fries hand-cut fries topped with cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. Comfort food done right. You can choose from hand-cut, curly, or extra crispy fries, which is always appreciated. The space itself is small but comfortable classic small town bar vibes with exposed brick, a cozy dining room in the back, and a relaxed bar area up front. It's not fancy, and it's not trying to be. It's just a good place to hang out, have a few drinks, eat solid food, and actually enjoy yourself. Overall, this is a dependable, low key spot with good food, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We've been here many times before and will absolutely keep coming back. Classic bar feel with above and beyond food and service! Came on a weekend for lunch with a large group. Our server was really great and got us our bloody marys quickly. Shared an appetizer of the pirogies, which were simply perfection. Excellent texture on the fry and the sauteed onions added so much flavor. Decided for a healthier fare, the salmon caesar was very delicious. It was quite a large salad and as you can see in the picture, there was a nice size of salmon. Growing up in this area, I never had much more than the wings and I was never inside until last night. There's a small parking lot I believe, but we wound up parking along the street. Upon entering it's a bit tight as you walk in the bar area. There's plenty of seating however throughout. Our server was really nice but you could tell she was a bit overwhelmed. She did her best to accommodate us throughout with refills, etc. My one son got a kids meal and it was a smaller portion than most places I've been to. For the most part this place is a great find. The food has been great, and there are different deals throughout the week. The best night so far is all-you-can-eat wings on Tuesday night for $20. Sat down on the outdoor deck. Very cool little area. The waitress gave us the menu and another paper showing todays specials. I saw the stuffed chicken breasts on the specials. I knew I wanted it, so I didn't even look at the main menu. When I ordered she says "oh the stuffed chicken breast and (another of the four specials) aren't available." The FreHo is not what it used to be. Ive been there twice in two weeks. The first experience was good food but horrible service. I met my hubby there with some work friends; he ordered an appetizer and the kids meal so that it was ready when me and the kiddo arrived. Everything was great, until the server never came back to take anyone else's order. My husband asked for salad dressing which took roughly 20 minutes to get and by then, everyone was done eating. So he asked for a box, and ended up waiting roughly 25 minutes for that. So we gave it another chance and met an old group of friends thinking we could eat, chill, and shoot the crap but that got spoiled quickly by the same server. She brought the food out and waited over 10 minutes to check on the food. My husband's burger was not cooked correctly nor was any of the other burgers however my husband is the one who spoke up. She offered to send it back and since everyone was just about done eating, my husband opted not to get another sandwich made. We paid full price for the meal and the burger sat. When asking for a box, instead of getting it at time of bill delivery, I had to remind her to bring it (for my food). She said thanks everyone and I again said, I still need a box. Local place with great food. The menu was an interesting combination of bar foods and restaurant foods. Whatever your taste you can find something appealing. My girlfriend described her rueben as the best she's ever had. Even though we live 45 minutes away, she declared she wants to go back soon. They offered a variety of cheeses to complement my burger, which was good. The negatives - portions on the fries seemed small and parking was tricky. Also, the friendly staff kept up a frenetic pace due to the special that night. Tuesday was all-you-can-eat-wings; "busy" is an understatement. I have not been here in about 12 years. Thankfully I arrived on the 11th anniversary of the current ownership and received the 11% discount. A veteran-owned business, the Eagle Hotel gives service members and vets a 10% discount all the time. The barmaid was useful but not overtly friendly but everyone else was. Owner Mike explained the history of the establishment and fellows on both sides of me pointed out their favorite drinks and foods. A member of the golf trio offered me some of his hand-cut fries ( very good ). My sandwich was tasty, my Yuengling Premium was cold ( soon to be serving Golden Pilsner ) and I enjoyed reading the scrolling upcoming events on the flat screen. I had a truly enjoyable lunch and will return soon - hopefully for an event. I think this is one small pub that is secure from the hordes of attorneys that scour the fertile fields of Pennsylvania trying to buy up all the PLCB licenses for use at Wawas, Sheets and supermarkets selling takeout beer. Oh my. Me and the wife decided to try this place out tonite for the first time. We got a full order of ribs, cheese fries and half a dozen mild wings. The drive wasnt bad, staff was friendly and waiting for us when we got there (covid take out). I was skeptical of this place, but i sure as hell arent anymore. This place has hands down the best ribs in the area. I usually only ever eat half a rack and save the other half, but i couldnt stop myself with these and ate the whole thing.
