Very basic but cheap and a nice dining area When I talk about burger shacks, this is the place that comes to mind. The burgers are straight up ground beef, the fries are bagged and the shakes use an off the shelf soft serve mix. It's not glamorous eating, but it's functional. I'm not opposed to this style of location, so long as they are priced appropriately and they recognize their limitations. Be nice, be quick, and make it just a little better than the rest and you can thrive. Server was very nice, location does look like much from the front but the inside has a nice appearance. The food is lackluster, exactly as presented on the menu. They do grill their buns in butter, and the flavors of their soups and fries are present and front facing. Burger was overcooked and unseasoned, hot dog was grilled well though. Easy fixes though, season the patty and 1 minute quicker off the grill and everything would be much better. it's actually pretty cheap as well.$5 for a foot long hotdog and $9 for a mushroom Swiss burger is pretty reasonable. They are not a fast food joint, but they are relatively quick and the quality is better than a chain as well. This is a spot that I would imagine a family would go to for that quick bite. It's basic but better than what you would get from any of the chains around. Price is good for the quality, and it's very much a burger shack. Go in expecting that, and you'll have a good experience. Just happening to be in the area, Zack's seemed like a great opportunity to sample this much praised establishment; and, so I did. Over the years, this not so much to look at address has housed everything from middle of the road diners to higher end restaurants; and, the impression I got when I entered was that each of them had left some of the decor behind. That being said, It was clean and comfortable, with a homey feel to it. The staff at the counter was welcoming and courteous, giving each of the steadily flowing customers her full attention. I ordered the double 'shroom burger and took a seat for what would a less than ten minute wait. Upon removing the foil wrapper, it was clear that the two prominent Patty's, inside a soft bun, would be enough to satisfy my hunger; but, knowing that there are plenty of unappetizing things that could fill my belly, the taste was my main concern. So, I bit right in. My first bite, and all that came after, proved each, thick, patty was packed with juicy goodness, but not so much that I would wearing it on my jacket. The 'shrooms provided a pleasant after taste, that couldn't be denied. So, why three stars? One word: mustard. With each bite, my fingers were coated in yellow, making me think I should have taken more napkins with me. The cheese, although plentiful, was rendered flavorless by this over ample condiment. In short, what started off ahead, ended in a mid place finish. At just over twelve bucks, before tip, the price seemed fair, considering prices these days. The staff was super friendly and partnered with a cute and comfy diner-like interior makes for a great quick eatery. We started with a cup of beef stew (homemade and delish) and a peanut butter milkshake. Very much appreciate the large pieces of pb cups in the shake - partnered with a large straw. Not long ago, I tried to visit Zack's for the first time at their old location, only to arrive and discover that they were in the process of moving and closed for an indefinite period. I'm not going to lie -- I was fairly annoyed at the time because I drove out of my way to visit and they didn't post that information on any Socials that I could find to give people like me a heads up. I learned last week that they were in their new Berlin location near Coles Road Brewing, where I believe a restaurant called the Cornerstone may have been. Since I was nearby, I decided to try again. I'm now a fan of their food. The inside is small, but nice. The outside at this stage is not a plus and they have temporary signage that is not eye catching. I assume that's all in process. I ordered a BYO double smash burger with Swiss and sautéed mushrooms, onions and chipotle mayo. The burger was huge and the patties were juicy. The burgers needed a bit more salt, but the cheese, onions and mushrooms were all very good. I'm fairly certain they missed the chipotle mayo because I don't see it in my pics and I didn't taste it. By the time I noticed, i just went with Ketchup. In any event, the burger was very good and had the potential to be great. The fries and my peanut butter shake were both good. The fries seemed a bit battered and cut to medium. The milkshake was handmade and tasty. It had chunks of PB cup -- I believe. I definitely recommend checking out Zack's at their new location. Lots of room for improvement here. Upon arrival, you realize this place is located in the back corner of a strip mall that looks partially abandoned in the middle of no where. Then upon walking in, this place seemed a little dark and depressing. Reminded me of when a store closes down for the day and they leave the emergency lights on to deter midnight robberies. They need to work on making this place more friendly and approachable. The person taking care of us came off as rude many times. Like at least pretend you care. We ordered this mushroom burger, a baja burger and some french fries. All were very good. Tasty and greasy goodness. Exactly what you would expect from a restaurant like this. In my opinion, you should just order your food at the counter and seat your self. That would be much more appropriate for this type of burger joint. The Zach burger had awesome flavor and a touch of crunch with potato chips on there. Yes I'm addicted to potato chips and apparently Zach is too so that suits my needs perfectly lol. The black and blue burger is fab too. The junior is good if you're not super hungry and the double has a second patty if you're hangry or just plain have a hankering to chow down. The onion rings were huge and tasty. The sweet potato friends were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside (in a good way). Will definitely be back to try more burgers and the list of milkshakes is calling my name. Salted caramel and Reese's?!? Yes please. Went to Zack's yesterday. Tuesday is BOGO burger. It's a little hole in the wall but a great find. I believe they grind their own meat and make the patties. They serve on potato bread rolls and make their own house sauce. If you aren't looking for it, it's hard to find. I recommend making the trip, it's much better than Burger King. read more

Looks can be deceiving for sure. This place is located at the back/side of a semi abandoned shopping mall and when we went inside it was a little on the shabby side, I will say this is during the takeout only, covid 19 way of life so it might be just how it is for now. Not sure so I won't judge that too much. I'd rather judge food anyways, and let me tell you this place doesn't disappoint. Three of us went and had our meals outside. My wife got a build your own burger (only thing we got in the group that was a little underwhelming LOOKING but she said it was great), and cheese shoestring fries which was great. Tons of cheese etc. Her brother got the Zack burger (obviously his name is Zack so he had too), and the Parmesan fries which I tired and loved. I grabbed a double good morning sunshine burger which is a burger with egg, bacon and a hash brown patty. Also had a normal size all beef chilli cheese dog. Both were as good as they looked. Three of us got milkshakes. One chocolate lovers, one peanut butter and a vanilla. All were excellent. We will definitely be back for more. read more

Definitely in my top 5 favorite burger joints around the country, the staff is friendly and loves to joke around! If you're anywhere near by within a 100 mile radius it is 100% worth the detour. Whether you're bringing your family or just coming in for yourself it's the perfect place to cure that afterwork hunger. My two personal favorites are the Baja burger and the good morning sunshine. Tonight we tried Zack's for the first time. We ordered several burgers and a variety of fries. The hand cut fries left something to be desired, possibly they just did not travel well. The sweet potato fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, salted well and not greasy- perfect!! The chili cheese fries were good. The high road burger was AMAZING, the burger itself was not dry and all the toppings complimented it perfectly. Definitely will be returning! OH and the milkshake was delicious. Also has Gluten free buns for those who are celiac or gluten free, and they were tasty not crumbly as other gf buns I have had. read more

First of all, my order took 45 minutes when I was told 15-20. Also don't even bother to order something that isn't on the menu. They get "overwhelmed" with big orders and never get orders 100% right. This hidden gem is fantastic! It's tucked around the backside of the ferndale plaza. They've only been open about a week. You order st the counter and they bring it to your seat. The burgers are delicious. I ordered the Jr mushroom burger and it was a substantial portion. The Reese's peanut butter shake is out of this world. The handcut fries were also good. We tried the regular ones. Next time we'll try the sweet potato fries. The staff was all super friendly. We will definitely be back again. read more
