I wouldn't recommend GT cars to anyone. I was highly interested in a 2017 Buick enclave that I saw advertised by Guillermo (Gil) on Facebook. The pictures looked beautiful! But after I saw the car in person i realized the pictures were edited. I took my boyfriend and father in law. My boyfriend does body work, and my father in law is a mechanic. So they instantly saw the flaws it had. The car was dirty, that was a flaw I was willing to look past I actually had a detailer ready for when I got back home. The price was good, but it had a whole center console missing, with a pillow cover. the screen was cracked. The headrests actually had screens in the back, 1 of them worked and the other didn't and he said that's why he had covered them up and didn't advertise the screens because 1 didn't function. Mind you, these may be flaws others are willing to look past, but I'm the type of person that wants quality. there was many more flaws in the interior that's to much to mention, and the exterior had dents that aren't noticeable in the pictures, the tires were super old, it had oil leaks, and like I said more things I won't mention, all minor things I guess but when u add it up it comes out to atleast 3k more.. His advertising makes it seem like the cars are nice, it isn't until you get there that the flaws are revealed. And I drove all the way down there from Indio. A lot of these reviews are great and everyone says how " honest " he is, but an honest person wouldn't falsely advertise. He didn't reveal how the car was " not perfect " in his words, until we got there. He seemed like a nice guy, even when my boyfriend and his dad were expressing their dislikes, Gil said how he didn't take it personally, that he isn't attached to these cars. needless to say, Gil blocked me on facebook after I decided not to make the purchase. So make sure if u guys are interested in cars from this place to take ur own mechanic and don't just buy impulsively because the prices are great but you get what u pay for read more

Ok, so I bought a car from Ron on November 1, 2016 but was slacking on posting a review til now. I contacted Ron at GT Cars Inc. in mid October, explained that at the time I was in an open bankruptcy looking for financing on one of his Subarus. He explained that he could work with me once the bankruptcy discharges and to call him once it does. Score 1 for GT Cars Inc. since Ron was straight up with me to wait until discharge (I had other places tell me they could help me only to be denied with multiple inquiries). Score 2, he was willing to let me take the vehicle to a mechanic for a pre-delivery inspection. I had been looking at a 2009 Subaru Outback on his site for the few weeks I had to wait until getting my bankruptcy discharged and was eager to come check it out. So late October I got the discharge and went to go see Ron and the Outback, which I wanted for our family rig. Good thing my husband measured our dog to make sure the cargo space would be tall enough for her to sit comfortably - because it was just barely too short. Other than that it was a great used vehicle with low miles and a clean, well service documented carfax and limited engine and transmission warranty. So once we knew the Outback was a no-go Ron saves the day by informing us that he has an 06 Forester in the back - right on! He wanted to make sure that we understood that it was not ready yet - and explained what still had to be done. We walked to where it was and even though it was dirty and the bumpers still had primer it was like the clouds opened and the harps started playing! Yay - it was exactly what I had been looking for, even better with Ron explaining that the head gasket had just been done and all the details that went with that! Absolute score! So after the weekend and waiting for proper documentation on my end and for him to finish getting the car ready, we were able to pick up the car. It cleaned up real nicely and besides minor expected things on a ten year old vehicle - I am super satisfied with the vehicle and the service we were given from Ron. Ron made all the difference in the world between other places that were willing to finance me. He was a professional, which is hard to find anymore. The manner in which he explained the vehicle as well as the condition and features of the vehicle itself also far exceeded any of the competitors' value on customer satisfaction. In the end, I didn't even get the pre-delivery inspection done by a 3rd party - I felt that confident about the car and GT Cars Inc. I am completely satisfied with the terms of the loan, down payment, monthly payment amount and the price he gave me. Interest is on the higher end of the competitors' but I was so impressed with Ron's straight forward professionalism and experience that interest was not a priority. He explained how to lower the interest rate in about a year after making on time payments. Awesome, Ron - we could use all the credit tips after the bankruptcy. Ron also reassured us that should we need any service we could come to him. I live about an hour drive away, but I know I will use him in the future. Thank you Ron! Do NOT buy from these crooks. We bought a car from some guy named RON here at gt. We drove the car and it seems ok. we looked at other cars but decided to buy from gt. The salesman said the car had a warranty and we felt comfortable enough to pull the trigger. BAD mistake. Three weeks into ownership, the car was having issues. my husband contacted "ron" and he said bring it and he'll adrdess it. It took a coule of weeks as "ron" claimed to be out of town. The car was finally brought in a ron didn't fix anything. He told my husband to take the car else where and the warranty doesnt cover it. So low and behold, we are now owners of a car that chronically leaks and a sketchy a/c in the california summer!. It was my first time buying a car and I fell like they just took advantage. Do you research or just save your time and money and go to a real dealership, they buy most cars from auctions and half ass inspection. This review is after almost two years of dealing with Ron and Dale and their little GT cars inc. I knew I should have drove away when I arrived because I saw Dale speeding down the street in the car I was there to look at. His excuse was that it was just wanted and he wanted to dry it quickly. They sold me a used 2006 legacy GT with problems to start with. I was told over the phone that the turbo was replaced and I have a voice of dale saying that. The very next day I had to take it back for repairs. At this point the car still has a lot of mechanical and transmission issues I bought it with 128000 miles and now it has 131000 since I purchased it in June 2008 it is now Jan 2020 and I have since put another 3 thousand into it and I still need to repair more. These crooks took their money and ran I've tried reaching out to the both of them and nothing at this point I am currently looking in legal action because I cannot afford repairs after repairs and still make payments on it. The day GT cars close their doors for good, I will throw a big party in celebration. I will make it a yearly holiday for myself and to those that have been screwed over by these two I invite you. Potential buyers beware! Waste of time. No business ethics. Dealer will sell car out from under you without your knowledge. He's shady! I went to look at this vehicle three times all the way from Pomona to Newport beach. If that doesn't say "I'm interested" I'm not sure what does! I was absolutely interested, however, the transmission clunked very hard when it came to a stop. He was lucky I came back a third time! The owner, bonadfide clown, Ron, said it ran fine...l i a r ! (strike one). I gave them a couple of days to fix it then agreed to come back and drive it again. I did a second time and it was still a problem. Then, the owner, Ron, drove it himself and agreed it was a problem (what was he doing, or intending, before that, that he didn't know it was a problem?) so, he agreed to take it to Ford to have the computer reprogrammed. I came back a third time from Pomona and it was fine. I told him I was interested and agreed to buy it and we shook hands he also agreed to have an updated navigation system installed, since the ad said it had a sun roof (another lie), which, it did not have. he tap danced around that too. (lie number three). But, I thought that was a fair trade in lieu of lowering the cost and he offered to put gas in it. He said he'd have the finance company call me the next day, which they did. sounds like a sale to me! I was approved for the loan within an hour and the old slimy fucker sold the car to someone else while our transaction was pending! - bad car-ma Ron! - don't trust this idiot. he cheats his sales people too. - want's them to do work outside of sales at his lot for free while he's on vacation. Aand, from reading the reviews, on cargurus.com, this isn't the first time he's done this. Well, what a surprise! To justify selling the car, he whined about "having to make a living" while practically yelling at me on the phone, for who knows what, to justify his fucked up guilty ass actions, I'd say maybe it was his conscious if i could be sure he had one. If he was worried about losing another potential buyer, if i wasn't interested, all he had to do was call me and ask if i wanted to move forward with the deal (after all I had just been there the day before...it hadn't even been 24 hours!) and politely tell the other buyer he had a sale pending and to wait another couple of hours or so for the approval. I was simply waiting for his loan company to call me back. if the other buyer was that interested (which, he obviously was), he would still be interested in another couple of hours! So, if this is the way he handles his "thirty year business" (he'll brag to you about being there thirty years, BFD) then imagine what else he won't tell you as you're signing papers for his used vehicles that he doesn't even realize have mechanical problems. don't trust him. I hope the new owner enjoys the fruits of my patience waiting for the car to actually be sale-able! Because this douche bag, RON, would have sold it as is, (and clearly, that wouldn't be the first time either) or, maybe not at all, so, he should be thanking me, because he wasn't even smart enough to know something was wrong with it! These guys are really nice and approachable, but they're selling lemons instead of cherries. Bought a 2009 Subaru Forester this past summer. The vehicle had less than 60k miles on it. I paid 16 grand. I should have paid the extra $$ for an extended warranty, but I was sold on their integrity with a handshake and a thought that because of my military service they would come up good. Unfortunately this vehicle has been nothing but a headache. Took it to an alternative mechanic whom diagnosed it with leaking head gaskets. So I took it back and they said they would fix it but I have my reservations. The vehicle misfires still. Faulty spark plugs of which they said they fixed. And if that wasn't enough problems for a newer used car the AC compressor went out after 3 weeks of owning and I don't even use the ac. Price quoted to have fixed..$1100. I kept trying to inquire with them. They never returned my calls. So do yourself a favor before buying from these guys and look elsewhere. My trust in people has been greatly tarnished by Ron and his team of chop shop work standards. read more

Avoid!! If you absolutely MUST buy from them, pay the money to take the car to ANY OTHER mechanic first. The only money they put into a used car is a wash and oil up everything. When I bought a car from them the "smog was done," yet the check engine light came on 3 days later and it suddenly needs a new cat. It "runs great" yet the steering and suspension is shot and must be replaced. Had the car for 3 days and the cost to me has tripled. I dealt with Ron and Frank and they taught me a valuable lesson about never trusting a used car salesman. I know why they have been in business so long, idiots like me. read more

Could be worse, but there is a reason people don't trust used car salesmen. I bought my car here about a year ago, upon purchase they stated that it had all maintenance done and it seemed too good to be true but given their prices, I decided it was worth the chance. Within the first month of ownership I had weather strips fall off, a bad battery, bad o2 sensor, followed in the next several months by a bad alternator, shotty wiring along with some blown hoses, costing me thousands. I also found that whoever was the previous owner had spilled pop all down inside the dash, but don't know that I can blame them for that, although it would have been nice to see an effort to clean aside from vacuuming made. I love my car but don't think that given the chance I wouldn't have passed on it knowing what I know now. For the price I ended up paying I could have gotten a much newer model. These guys, while nice, should NOT be charging dealership prices for the cars they sell. And I would only purchase from them again having a knowledgeable mechanic for the make and model come along to check out the potential car. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GT CARS!!!!! I purchased an Audi A4 from them two weekends ago and was assured that their onsite mechanic had looked the car over and everything was in good order. I immediately brought the car to Audi Carlsbad where they provided me a long list of items that needed repair costing $4,800. I knew, going into the purchase, that the car was 'as is' would need some repairs, but not $4,800 worth where a vacuum pump, front axle, control arms, etc. Furthermore, when signing the sale papers they agree to cover 50% of certain repairs. In response, GT said that Audi lied to me and that the car doesn't need most of the repairs. He has not followed through on the agreement and now I am paying out of pocket for $4,500 worth of repairs. read more

Bought an 08 Impreza from Ron last Friday, and on my way home to San Diego, the check engine light came on. I pulled out my code reader, and got a Catalytic converter Low Threshold P0420 code. So naturally I call Ron, and let him know what has happened. He tells me to bring the car in Monday and he'll replace the cat.... FOR FREE. I'm not sure if anybody knows this, but Subaru charges 1200$ plus labor for the oem cat replacement. So I was pretty surprised he said he'd do it for free. Ron is a true business man that just wants you to have a nice, reliable used car.. He is a man of his word, and a very trustworthy person. If I could, I'd buy all my cars from this man. read more

I have purchased 2 cars from Ron at GT cars and I've had all work done on my vehicles with him. My 97 Mazda pickup just hit 238,000 miles and hauled 11 heavy loads to Lone Pine CA up El Cajon pass this past month. Yes we have maintained it well through GT cars, and it runs as good as new today. I commute now from Lone Pine weekly with this great vehicle. Just had the air conditioning redone since I'm in the desert, great job, ice cold. My other car is a Mitsubishi Outlander I purchased from Ron. It is at 240,000 miles (I bought it at 42,000 miles) and we have had all work done by Ron and his staff. My wife's car died and was not worth any more money for repairs. We found a low mileage 2002 Toyota Highlander at GT that was in our price range. We drove to GT and met Ron and were impressed with his "no nonsense" approach. He was very helpful, but not overbearing...and definitely not the typical used car sales guy. We really liked the car. It was clean and had a good Carfax history...and more importantly, we felt like Ron was a trustworthy businessman, so we bought it. We liked the fact that GT included a limited drive train warranty, as well. About a week after we purchased the car, the check engine light came on. We took the car to Ron and he found that a couple of the sensors in the exhaust system had gone out. This was not covered by the warranty, but Ron offered to split the price of the parts and do the labor without charge. This kind of service and integrity are hard to find. We've had a couple of other issues, as tend to come up on older cars, that were not covered by the warranty...and in every case, Ron has stepped up and helped us with discounted parts and labor. This saved us a LOT of money. So while the car has had more issues than we would have liked (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5), we couldn't be happier with the service and responsiveness of Ron and his team. He has returned our calls promptly and never makes excuses. He always says he wants us to be happy with our purchase. My car wouldn't start this morning and after AAA jumped my friend recommended I go through them for the battery replacement and the quote for the battery and labor was cheaper than the cost of just a battery from O'Rielly auto parts. Dropped the car off and replaced the battery , changed the oil checked out the alternator, washed the car and replaced a burnt out light in the front. All this in one day at a very reasonable price and I hassles. So far I'm very pleased and plan on taking it back very soon for brakes. I would have paid at least double through the dealership. By the way it VW Jetta and this is the first time she has been anywhere but the dealership. They also said I could stop by whenever I needed to check the oil and they'd do it for me. I bought a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS from GT Cars December of 2014. The vehicle had around 112,000 miles on it. One of my primary concerns when buying the car was wether or not the Head gasket had been replaced. It is common knowledge that on old Subaru's the head gasket will fail at around 120,000 miles 99% of the time. Subaru's are a great car as long as this problem has been accounted for and fixed. When i purchased the vehicle, Frank and Ron informed me that the Head gasket, as well as the timing belt had been replaced by them personally. Similar to other reviews previously written, we payed close to dealership/high blue book prices for the vehicle, thinking it would be a good investment given the extra work that had been done to the car. One year later and roughly 10,000 miles more, i was left on top of a winter pass 250 miles from home on the side of the road in 10 degree weather. My head-gasket was blown and i had to put over $1200 into the vehicle to repair it. If you are unfamiliar with head-gasket replacement, a correctly done job should last somewhere around 100,000 miles. After taking the car to a Subaru dealer to do the job correctly i found out the following: The head gasket had been replaced, but it was done so very poorly. The gaskets that were used were cheap aftermarket gaskets that lost their seal. And the heads themselves where torqued so loosely that they could be moved with a push of the hand. The mechanic also found broken bolts attaching the head to the block. The timing belt however, was done correctly and not in need of work. The quality of work that was done to the car was sub-par at best, and the prices charged for the vehicle in hind sight were much too high. read more

READ THIS: I have always had horrible associations used car dealerships. I have bought my last 4 cars through private parties. This time around, GT Cars popped up when I was searching for a Forester XT. Couldn't find anything decent on Craigslist as it's somewhat of a rare car. So I decided to go down and at least check the car out with these guys. I was kinda surprised when I talked to Frank and he said to go take it for a test drive and see if I like it. I did and ended up buying the car. HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART... I started to smell and see smoke soon after buying the car. I brought it back to them pretty damn frustrated as I felt like, what I was afraid of (getting ripped off), was about to happen. Talked to Ron this time and he said they did a head gasket job on the car before (which they had already told me) and that maybe there was an issue with the job. I was fairly pissed as I was sure they would tell me they could fix it for a great price but I would still end up putting down more money. Turned out there was an issue and it needed a whole new head gasket job (not cheap). When I picked up the car the next day, Frank apologized for the issues and said he sold me the car under the assumption it was running fine and that I didn't owe them a dime. I was taken back (It's not often integrity manifests itself in business these days, especially with the stigma of a used car lot.) I bought this car about 6 months ago and am driving it happily. Nightmare Experience! they are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. terrible mechanics and show no integrity . I bought a car from them and they said it was in excellent condition. Literally, the very next day the engine light came on. i had to take it back over 12 times with them promising that they will fix it and every time the car came back the same or worse. the engine eventually went bad completely bad and they kept it for a total of a month and a half saying that if i pay for half the engine they would replace it. I shelled out half the cost of the motor just to have it returned to me still not working. Then i found out from another mechanic that the engine was never replaced at all. they eventually decided to no longer honor their warranty with me and now I'm going to have to go to small claims just to get my thousands of dollars back because i needed the engine replaced by an outside mechanic. i was trading them from my totaled Honda that was in an accident and they fixed and put on their website without mentioning that it was totaled at all, pretty sad for the person who will find that out after they sell it to them. One more thing. they treated me very different as soon as i bought the car. they were rude, aggressive and sometimes just never returned my calls. read more

I bought a 2007 Subaru Forester from GT Cars in July. Dealt mainly with Frank, who was communicative, attentive and fair. I had a third-party inspection done at South Coast Subaru before my purchase; the report said that the head gaskets needed to be replaced (which is common for this generation of Subies at 100k miles) and a bunch of other stuff. Frank took care of it at no extra cost; have since put 4200 miles on it, and it's running great!
