Wonderful experience buying my beautiful convertible Beetle. Mike was awesome! Incredibly helpful and responsive to all of my questions, texts & calls in a very timely manner. The transaction was seamless, purchasing from out of state. Papers signed and car delivered to my home all within a week! Would definitely recommend and would purchase another vehicle from Mike in the future.

These were stand up guys. I made the drive up from San Diego to purchase the vehicle and they were hospitable, informative, honest and there wasn't any bs about it- just a quick, easy and pleasant experience. Also, the truck I purchased was 100% detailed and clean throughout. Check them out next time you're in the market!

This place is exactly what you think it is when looking up a review. It's just like every other private car dealer, slimey and suspicious. I came here to look at a car. It was outside ready for a test drive and I saw this as a green flag, it also appeared very clean but it was a scam. After I purchased the car I was told that "it runs fine, the car just sounds weird when it starts, oh and the cd player doesn't work." There were also things I did not notice such as the overhead being taped so it looks like its intact. Make sure when you look at a car here, to check everything because they will not disclose it. And of course they tell you how GREAT of a deal you are getting. Lastly, they asked me to write a review before I left... that's probably where they get these 4 and 5 star reviews. In summary, the car I purchased is old and I expect it to not be perfect, but I would appreciate the issues to be disclosed and not hidden. And every other private dealer works just like them, just be careful when purchasing and look inside compartments and stuff. I'd call them scam artists, but that's giving too much credit.

I have a van that I bought in this dealer 3 times ago and I have it in the deep dealer . with many problems ..and supposedly they didn't have any problem that had already checked it their mechanic Raul and now they don't want to answer ..be careful don't buy with these guys

Thank you Mike and Moe for a great deal and fabulous customer service in purchasing our vehicle with So Cal Auto! You are true professionals and we love our new car!

Great location for buying used cars, found my vehicle via True Car website. After looking through different websites Mike shot me a text message and established communication. Didn't feel pressured or hassled. Both Mike and his associates were very professional and courteous. They work very well with your bank or credit union, whole process took less than 24 hours, plus they take care of all DMV related issues. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

Thanks to Mike and Mo our daughter now has her first car! They were so great and patient even with all my questions and concerns. My husband and I both got to test drive the car which ran smoothly only one minor adjustment with the steering wheel but they sent it out right away to be fixed. All the cars are carfax guaranteed so we were able to view past history. Thanks again for everything she is so happy!

Mike and Mo took AMAZING care of us... in today's crazy car market, it was so refreshing to meet honest, knowledgeable businessmen who clearly love what they do. From test-driving to purchase, the entire process was no-nonsense. Looking for a good quality car... look no further, run (don't walk) to see these guys.

If you're looking for an easy car buying experience, with the cleanest well maintained vehicles look no further. Mike and Mo got me in a clean low miles, Lexus GS350 that had the cleanest carfax records I've ever seen. They even gave me way more than other dealerships for my trade, and made the process super easy. Will be going to them for my next vehicle in the future!

I was very happy with my experience here. I bought a 2014 Porsche Boxster a few months ago. The car runs great and was valued well; he really knows the prices especially for Porsches in this area. The process was very smooth with transferring ownership, paperwork, financing with the bank, etc. These guys know what they are doing and are honest. Thanks!

No pressure tactics, no surprise fees, fair pricing, and a quick and easy transaction. It's refreshing compared to the typical used car dealer experience, and I genuinely appreciated that. The Bad: I drove off the lot and immediately noticed two warning lights on the dash: charging port fault and airbag. You know how cars flash a few lights on startup and they disappear within seconds? That's what I assumed. Besides, you're spending $50K+ on a car and you don't expect to drive away with these active warnings. I simply trusted Zed on that. Both turned out to be real issues. $1,400 paid to fix it. During my inspection, one of the Falcon Wing doors hesitated when opening. Zed said it was probably the sun, shade, or dust interfering. I took his word for it. It wasn't. $650 quote from Tesla. One week later, a steering rack warning appeared. $4,000 quote. Total damage in week one: over $6,000 on top of the purchase price. My Take: I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't know about these issues. But either way, it's clear these cars aren't being thoroughly inspected before they hit the lot. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could, but $6,000+ in repairs within a week makes 4 stars hard to justify. Would I buy from here again? "Maybe..." But next time I'm bringing my own inspector, spending more time on the test drive, and checking every light, every panel, and every moving part myself. Bottom line: Good dealer. Smooth process. But do NOT skip a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Do NOT assume the car is in good condition because you're having a good experience during your time at the dealership.

Intake manifold flap was faulty and had to be replaced. Tires had to be changed and all brakes needed maintenance only a few months in. Etc. I accept that I bought this car "as is," but I was told certain things worked, and given representations about the cars condition, such as "It's been well-maintained..." and they were blatant lies. I ignored other reviews and purchased my dream car from OC Autosource...a Bentley Continental GT Speed "Limited Le Mans Edition" (#7 of 48) coupe. Though the car had been in his hands for weeks, he apparently never bothered to have a mechanic look at it. I paid for a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) after buying it (my bad, don't make this mistake) and learned the truth about the car. The front grills had sustained damage, breaking off the tabs that hold them in place and subsequently been GLUED back on. The front left wheel had a crack in it which caused the tire to steadily lose air pressure, ultimately triggering an alert on the car's dash. This alert effectively froze the computer, making it impossible to use the navigation, listen to music or do anything else. I returned to the tire shop 3 times for refills, seven days later the alarm was triggered again, On my third visit they discovered the crack in the wheel. The exhaust system was loosely hanging on...missing brackets that secure it and prevent it from hanging low. The car has a 20 speaker, $7500.00 sound system but the blown speaker in the dash made it painful to use...like nails on a chalkboard. When I provided Tony proof of these flaws, he assured me he would make good on the repairs and "..do the right thing" and I believed him. I had everything fixed at a cost of $2637.79 (parts & labor) and now enjoy driving the car. Weeks passed and Tony never contacted me until I posted a review and filed a BBB complaint. 24hrs after posting my initial review & filing a BBB complaint, I got reimbursed the total amt for the aforementioned repairs. But because Tony asked me to "...remove all the negative you put out there" I feel this was mere damage control rather than his desire to do the right thing because I received more messages from him within 24hrs of posting my review than I received in the preceding 4 months.. I promised him an honest review on my first visit to OC Autosouce & that's what this is. I always keep my word. If you intend to purchase a car from OC Autosource, I suggest you demand a PPI be conducted before you buy. Have the cost of any repairs necessary be deducted from the purchase price and handle the repairs yourself. JMO...I could be wrong.

The online listing made the car sound pristine, but in person, it had a long list of issues: broken trim, missing parts, mismatched tires, rusted rotors, and a non-functioning rear screen. These flaws weren't disclosed in the ad. Worse, the dealership attempted to charge $5,500 for paint protection, theft deterrents, tint, and other add-ons that were never discussed beforehand, despite claiming "no hidden fees." Their fine print later revealed these were pre-installed and not part of the advertised price. I waited more than 20 minutes to speak with a manager after raising concerns but willing to negotiate, but no one followed up, so I walked out. This place banks on uninformed buyers accepting inflated prices and vague add-ons. If you're a serious buyer, read the fine print, ask hard questions, and be ready to walk. UPDATE 6/28/25: After buying the same make and model at a different dealership -- one with FAR better integrity -- I want to reflect back at my experience at this dealership and their practices. First, salesman wanted me to negotiate on the final price, not the vehicle price. That's a classic dealership tactic as it protects the sticker price for their metrics, have an easier time hiding add-on profits, and it creates a false impression of flexibility. Ultimately, this is bad for the buyer because transparency is lost, it protects their margin and limits one's leverage. I knew that's what they were aiming at, so I held the line on only negotiating on the sticker price. Again, LOOK AT THE PICTURES AS TO WHY!! In spite of what I just said, he proceeded with the oldest trick dealerships do: "cool-down" or "sweat-you-out" tactic. This is done to make one feel uncomfortable or impatient with the ultimate goal of getting one emotionally invested in staying and "finishing the deal". By doing so, they wear you down so that you're more likely to agree to their numbers just to be done. There are other reasons too but this is a big one. ~20 minutes of waiting, I told one of the salesmen that I've been waiting a while for the manager and will leave in 5 minutes if he doesn't arrive. True to my word, I left. I never heard from them after that (they had my contact info) which tells me they would rather wait for a less informed, emotional buyer to foolishly agree to the unfair price of this car AND overpriced mandatory add-ons. Here's my take away from this dealership: 1) High-pressure, low-integrity dealership model: They prioritize margins over relationships with a focus on flipping cars at inflated prices. They also rely on delays, confusion, and "manager invisibility" to outlast smart buyers. 2) Poor reconditioning = Cut costs: The car's condition (damaged trim, mismatched tires, rusted rotors, broken screen and so on) says they're not investing in inventory. They're pushing it out as-is and hoping no one notices. 3) The "Fool Tax" strategy: the biggest one for this dealership. They keep cars on the lot long enough to find someone unaware or emotionally invested. I was never their ideal buyer. I was informed, direct, and clear. PLEASE TAKE MY EXPERIENCE AS A WARNING. AVOID THEM. I AM SPEAKING AS SOMEONE WHO DID NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM. IMAGINE HOW I WOULD FEEL IF I DID. UPDATE 4/1/26: Since my visit, California passed SB 766, aimed at deceptive practices like misleading pricing and add-ons, the same issues I and many others have raised here. After 10/1/26, dealers engaging in those practices will face greater scrutiny. If you believe you were misled or defrauded, consider filing a complaint w/ DMV Investigations and keep all documentation. In Jan 2026, Yelp placed a "Suspicious Review Activity" alert on this dealership's page (see pic). Read it, then look at how many good reviews come from accounts with 1-3 total reviews here, versus those with a much longer review history. Draw your own conclusions. IF YOU FOUND A VEHICLE YOU LOVE AT THIS DEALERSHIP, PLEASE STAY AWAY!! THEY WILL USE YOUR EMOTIONS AGAINST YOU.

I even have him ON VIDEO stating that there were no mechanical problems with the vehicle. Now that I have the car and the problems have continued, he completely denies ever saying it. The second I drove the car off the lot, the check engine light came on. I immediately contacted them about it, and instead of properly diagnosing and repairing the vehicle, they simply RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT like that somehow fixed the problem. They told me that if the light came back on, they would fix it. Well, BOOM -- the check engine light came back on, and the car was having serious acceleration problems. I brought the car back to them, and they claimed they had "fixed it." I drove home from the lot and the ENGINE STALLED. The power steering went out, and I nearly crashed. This was not some minor inconvenience -- I was put in a potentially life-threatening situation because I was driving a vehicle that I was told had no mechanical issues. They took the car back again and claimed they "fixed it" AGAIN. I got the vehicle back, drove it for maybe 2-3 days, and BOOM -- the check engine light came back on. Then the engine died again. When I tried starting it, the entire vehicle was shaking violently. I called them immediately to explain what was happening, and instead of taking responsibility or trying to help, they told me it was MY problem and THEIR problem was supposedly over. It gets even worse. I was told they hoped I would break down on the side of the road. I was also threatened and told that if I came to the business, they would "kick my ass." Seriously? THIS IS NOT HOW YOU DO BUSINESS IN AMERICA. If a customer buys a vehicle from you after being told there are no mechanical issues, and the vehicle immediately develops serious mechanical problems, stalls while driving, loses power steering, and repeatedly throws a check engine light, the responsible thing to do is address the problem -- NOT threaten the customer, intimidate them, deny what was promised, and tell them it is their problem. I have video evidence of the salesperson telling me there were no mechanical issues with the vehicle, and now he denies saying it. At this point, this isn't just about buying a bad car. It's about the way customers are treated when they come back with legitimate safety and mechanical concerns. I strongly recommend anyone considering buying a vehicle here GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, have the vehicle independently inspected before purchasing, and document every conversation and promise made by the dealership. Needless to say, the only reason I would recommend buying a car here is if you want to spend your time dealing with mechanical problems, threats, intimidation, and potentially taking the dealership to court. Absolutely terrible experience. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle or an honest dealership.

Phillips Auto is on PCH across the street from Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. Parking is easy…read more The property is clean walking in the jewel box of collector's cars. I was nervous as I arrived alone and every past experience with dealerships has been abrupt & rude and had felt like I got had at some level. The day before, I had consulted with Carmax who offered $1,900 less than the online Kelley Blue Book offer. The week before that, a friend offered to help me sell my Jeep but he tried to get me to sign my title without a date saying that's what all sellers do in advance of selling cars. (Never sign the title until the money has been surrendered to you and the buyer is standing in front of you. I felt betrayed and disappointed by the so-called "friend". I had already contacted a shop owner & friends who only purchase Jeeps. They all wanted to buy my Jeep but times are tough lately & no one was liquid to purchase. I'm telling you all this to let you know how discouraged and roughed up I was feeling by the time I arranged my appoint my for Phillips Auto to see my Jeep. I am spreading the word now that your experience with Phillips will also feel great. You will be greeted in a friendly, professional casual manner. I finally met the affable Andreas (who had been communicating with me about my Jeep I was thinking of selling) and the impressive Bianca who feels like a friend from the start. She is in charge and you feel comfortable and charmed and informed. Both are kind and efficient while appraising my vehicle. Bianca's experienced eye and candor helps the checklist go fast. Their offer price was transparent and fair; very close to my Kelley Blue Book estimate. Bianca is prepared and lets you k is what she is thinking & openly helps you along with understanding the process. I chose to finalize selling my Jeep to Phillips because they gave me a fair offer and did not waste my time. Also, there was no pressure; they gave me the time I needed to call a couple friends' approval to hear their thumb's up. I got free water & a peaceful environment despite other customers & representatives doing business. The showroom is busy but not loud or bustly. Yes, I could have gone privately to sell my Jeep. But I had to get real with myself; I have never sold a vehicle privately before & my Jeep was older & would need time & investment of staging it well to sell it in my own. I did not have the knowledge to do all the trudge work necessary & not the time to meet & haggle with prospective buyers when Phillips has the staff & equipment to pass the Wrangler along to someone who would be just as happy with it as I have been driving it. The paperwork was quick. Phillips will do everything needed. All I did was sign & cancel my car insurance--and that process was not as nice as selling the car, wouldn't you know?! (I certainly felt taken advantage of by my car insurance later that day. That is a different and not as cheerful of a Yelp review & I have been with the same insurance company for 40 years.) Phillips treated me better on our first transaction than my long term insurance agent. Phillips Auto even provided me a complimentary Uber ride home. The wonderful element about Phillips is integrity & decency at this family-owned dealership. My car insurance franchise is also family-owned. Mind boggling with how wonderful I regard Phillips Auto. I'm going to keep referring all whom I care about to do business with Phillips Auto. Bianca is stellar. Please tell her you read this review. She is great people!!
