I was hesitant to try this place because I usually don't like Mexican food from restaurant because the taste is never authentic but this place is pretty close. Oh no, far from fresh, microwaved rice, beans and cheese enchiladas. The chicken Soper was eh, brown meat chicken was dry and the carne asada taco was a 2 from a 5. Tried their horchata and Jamaica waters and not good. They're not fresh, the lady mentioned they're made out of powder. All in all I will not be coming back. Nice restaurant, friendly service, bland food. I had a carnitas super burrito and, other than the affordable price, was pretty disappointed. It was smaller than my gf's veggie burrito, had only a tiny dab of what can only be called not-sourcream, with no avocado in sight, and the carnitas was dry and unstimulating (although I recognize that it can be a difficult meat to get right). Second time there, the first time was pretty good and we we're actually excited to have good mexican and convenient. Tonights experience was exactly the opposite. Not only was the food poor, but the fact that we told our waitress how un edible the steak was she takes it and wrapps it up in a napkin and throws it away. One outspoken critic of this place, Mike G, based his review on a single dish. I don't find his take credible, especially after having had several dishes there myself that were superb. Seafood is really clean on the palate; presentation and service are very, very good. I took a friend from Puerta Vallarta, who was bowled over by the fish tacos. My family and I have been eating here for a long time. I like the location because it is well lit and in a safe area in town with lots of free parking. Also its next to Nob Hill supermarket and since we do a lot of shopping there it is also easy to go over to Guadalajara Grill for a quick bite to eat. Their Mexican food, menu, and cleanliness are excellent. I love their giant burritos packed with anything you want. And my kids love their enchiladas and tacos. One of my favorite things is the amazing salsa bar that they have, thats included with any meal for free.Their homemade salsas and condiments are the best i've had. They always get the orders out quick,efficiently, and correct. Additionally, many times we are on the run and I like that we can call in our order and its almost always ready in 10-15 minutes. Otherwise, we really enjoy how big the restaurant is and how they have so many tables that it is always easy to find one. Their servers are always friendly and provided excellent service. This is by far our favorite Mexican Grill in Salinas for all the reasons stated above and I would highly recommend anyone to try it in heart beat. Oh...I almost forgot. Their prices! Are easy to afford with such a great value for the high quality food they serve. read more

Incompetent staff, very slow service and with a flare of racism . We are bi racial couple who recently visited this dump. The place was practically empty and we were ignored for 25 minutes! When I got up to complain I was told that they forgot about us! Really, how do you forget about your customers especially when you are not busy! I spoke to the owner as he was flirting and socializing with his staff, and he was not too concern and appeared undisturbed by my complaint. I've experienced slow service and mediocre food at this location in the past when I attended a work lunch ! There are much better quality restaurants like el charrito with outstanding food and excellent service ! Don't bother going here unless you love junk food, poor service with undertone racism! read more

This is great! We eat in or get takeout at least 2x a month. Waitresses are attentive and the food is really good.

I use their take out and have been happy with everything I've tried. The taco salad (w/shell on the side for take out) and the shredded beef super burrito wet are the favs. Great service and very nice. read more

I'm a local but ate here for the first time a week ago when some family was visiting from out of town. We wanted to try something new and were near by, so we went for it. First thing I noticed was that we were the only Mexican customers in the restaurant. Right off the bat it told me this was not an authentic Mexican restaurant. I was right, I guess they have to please their clientele and all people have their opinion on "authentic", especially I whom had just got back from Mexico (not a tourist place) a few days ago and had handmade tortillas everyday for 2 weeks! Anyways, food was bland, with no spice or finger lickin effects going on. We had the molcajete which was small and smothered in what tasted like canned tomato juice, not impressive at all! The other party asked for the dame thing and 2 sopes. They thought they were ehh, ok, but not full of flavor either. Drinks were ok and so was service. Overall I wasn't impressed with the place and may only go back upon others request. read more

When I used to live in southern California I had my favorite mexican place and I thought I will never be able find one here, but when I tried this restaurant it was pretty close. This is a go to place for me for great Mexican Food. Its consistently good with great burritos, tacos and I love their salsa bar where you can realy load up your burritos with great toppings. I also like the fact that I can call in my order ahead of time and they actually answer their phone, speak and understand English plus your order is their waiting for you when you get there. Its my favorite place to go in Salinas for lunch. It really clean too which I can't always say about other Taquerias around town. Also its in a safe well lit area of town with free parking where you don't have to feel like your car is going to be broken into. Unfortunately you always have to think of this in Salinas. Mexican food is the best. At this joint, the grilled fish tacos are Outstanding. As good as it gets Mexican rice and beans. The pork tamale was excellent; the masa had the right texture with a mild but excellent sauce. I like to go here all the time. The chips are ok. Salsas are a specialty with a whole bar of them to choose from. Portions are large but they happily provide take home boxes and takeout orders. You gotta try this one. read more
