This place was great! Not fancy - at all! But great Mexican food. Great selection of plates - beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, fish and veggies options. Everything we had was delicious (see pics). We tried the Asada with Shrimp, Enchiladas and Chile Verde Plate. Salsa & Guac were also very tasty and the complimentary grilled jalapeños were a nice touch! Guad is a great casual dining option! The food is great especially the fried ice cream!! It is pretty well priced for the portion sizes, and although it's more take out/fast food style you can still order drinks. The staff are nice and vibes are laid back. read more

Your meal begins by placing your order at the cashier station and then finding a table. Chips (called totopos in Mexico) and salsa were very good, but not provided free as is typical at Mexican restaurants. I had the seafood campechana with cuttle fish, mussels, and shrimp and it was good, but would have been better made with Mexican ketchup, which is a bit sweeter. Just happened to find this place as I was going for a ride on the motorcycle. The atmosphere was pretty cool. It was weird place an order at the counter like a fast food. After doing so, they brought the food out to my table. I had the enchilada plate. The food was really good. I was just surprised at the small portions I got considering the high price I paid. While taking our order the guy at the counter kept stopping to talk to the bother waitress. Rude. They had people in the restaurant with a dog. Gross. My husband had chicken fajitas and the vegetables were hard and not cooked. The beans were unsalted and the rice was flavorless. I had chili rellano and it was cold and tasteless. It depends who's cooking on that day! I always ask for Chimichangas and I have to ask them to put the sauce in a little cup, because they drown the Chimichangas and it makes them Soggy. The Chile Rellenos and Enchiladas are also to soggy when they shower them with sauce. However, communication always works. read more

No bueno. I've lived in SoCal most of my life and have hung out on the Baja peninsula for many years. I've traveled to a few cities in Mexico and really find Mexican food to be my comfort food. We are full-time RVers and travel all over the Western states in the almost 4 years we've been on the road. The food doesn't have to be over the top or edgy. I prefer honest ingredients, that are so well prepared, you feel the love and magic in it. I always judge good Mexican food by the way they regard one of my most favorite dishes, Carnitas. Oh, and beans....I love refried beans, and not everyone does these well. Here is what worked: Ample parking Open on Sunday Easy to order and pick up Food was warm when we arrived back to our RV to eat. Here is what didn't work: The food. My carnitas were so dry and flavorless, my entree was inedible. The rice and beans didn't have any flavor. It's a rare occasion where I vote thumbs down to give a place another chance. We were only in town for a few days and only had a few times to eat out. We can't risk this twice. This place is rated "Best of Taos, 1st place" in the city dining guide. It was an unfortunate and disappointing miss. If I was eating in the restaurant, I'd have sent it back and ordered something else. read more

We really enjoyed our experience here. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 6:15, but we only had to wait a couple of minutes to order our meal. We ordered a full size platter of vegetable enchiladas... Christmas style with both red and green chili sauce, we also ordered a homemade flan. We sat outside on a patio. First, we locals call it The Guad! It is great, the people who run it/ own it are great and it is delicious!!! You order at the counter and then they deliver your food to your table. They must have bought their silverware on sale because I have never used a worse fork in my life. The clincher, however, was the WINE Margaritas. Seriously??? Good Mexican restaurant that serves so authentic Mexican food. I have been here before a few years ago as one of my friends recommended this place. I even ordered the same thing this time (Shrimp La Diabla) as last time's experience was so memorable. Apologize if I spelled the name of the dish wrong. Basically it was a shrimp in a very spicy and creamy red sauce. I don't recommend this for people who don't do spicy though as it has a kick there but I loved it. The Gua and chips were yummy and fresh. The pork Canitas was a little too dry so I won't order it again. Once you order at the counter, pay and get the number. Food will be served at the table. Just rolled into town this afternoon and was wondering where to eat. Asked the staff at our hotel and they all said this location. We asked about fish tacos? Again, they said this location. They were 100% right. Food was amazing. Staff was friendly. We ate outside under the umbrella while it rained softly. The fish tacos were so yummy! The guacamole- heavenly! This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Taos. Service is always friendly, food is consistent. This is my regular hangout in Taos. My favorite is fish tacos. Really love the flavor of this tacos. How does this little Asian lady know about Mexican food anyway? Not sure but I cannot find any better fish tacos anywhere...
