My husband wanted to buy a whole fish to cook but we couldn't find anyplace close. I came across the whole fish fried that he loves at Guadalajara's so we decided to head to town to try it. We used to get the fried fish at the San Pedro Ports of Call which was amazing but the whole place is gone so we had to find someplace new. We were greeted as we came in and shown to a table. Menus were given and drink orders taken. We already knew what we wanted so ordered. Hubs got the fried whole fish and I chose the grilled fish-since I'm trying to eat a bit light. Somehow, the words mojo de ajo came out when she asked if I wanted a sauce. How bad is a little garlic butter? I chose the salad over beans so I figured it evened out. Right? We sipped margaritas and they were really delicious. My filet meal came out so we both started eating the salad. The salad was very fresh and tasty. They had a squeeze bottle of ranch but I preferred a squeeze of lemon and a shake of salt. We shared the filet which was crazy good! The sauce was so unbelievably flavorful! I've had this before in Mexico but this was the best. We were three quarters done with my meal and were still waiting for the whole fish. The whole fish finally came out and it was also delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly. Though, one side was seasoned while the other wasn't. He lived the refried beans. My filete came much sooner that my husband's whole fish. I know it takes longer but they should start it before the filets. This is the only reason why I took off one star. The food was delicious and the service was great. We waited a bit for them to take our payment-but we just went up to the front desk to pay. We will definitely be back. They have so many other wonderful selections that we want to try-though it would be hard to not get the fish dishes! They were that good. read more

If you are looking for delicious authentic Mexican food, great service and festive ambiance then you have come to the right place. We came into town to visit out friends and they recommended this joint. We were pleasantly surprised when the atmosphere and cool decorations, truly made us feel as if we had already crossed the border to Mexico. There was a live band playing mariachi the whole night (Saturday). Everything we ordered was amazing, from the Guacamole, the ever so refreshing Michelada, fried red snapper, steak and fajitas. You cannot go wrong with anything you order on their menu. It is pricey but it is only because the portions are super big and can be shared by two easily. Service was great, our waitress was extremely attentive and frequented out table all through out the night. My only complaint is that the music was so loud that we had to shout to hear one another. Great enchiladas. Loved the chips and salsa. They put refried beans on their chips. They give you a red salsa which is kinda spicy and a green one which is milder. I had the enchilada plate and loved it. Wife had shrimp cocktail and a lemonade. The Bill was $30. That probably would have been $50 at Jalisco's. The waitress did a great job. Food may seem pricey, but you get generous servings for sure. Service is somewhat lacking, but maybe it's because it was a Sunday and Sundays happen to be busy. We were asked to move to accommodate a larger group; my mum was stepped on by our server who didn't even notice, muchless apologized; and when we asked for a refill of the small bowl of chips with refried beans, they served us another small bowl, but instead of the smooth, refried beans that topped our first batch, we were given a heavy lump of overcooked, crusty, refried beans. Note so self: don't ask for refills on chips. My parents were pleased with their appetizer of 6 yellow peppers stuffed with shrimp (they got 3 fried and 3 roasted). My sister ordered an Imperial Valley creation: The Special Quesadilla (no longer on their menu, but still available). Basically, ooey, gooey cheese inside a light, flour empanada that's then deep fried. Very tasty, especially with their roasted homemade salsa. Must try. You can even request it with asada meat inside n_~ Parents were happy with their entrees: campechana cocktail and shrimp soup. My sister had the beef soup, and I had the 3 machaca tacos plate: be warned, its more like 3 mini burritos...and yes, they use flour tortillas. I wish it said so on the menu because I prefer corn. Horchata is homemade. Good flavor, but a tad bit on the sweet side for me. Overall, the food is good, but service leaves a bit to be desired. read more

Food is pricey for the quality. I ordered the mixed fajita's and to be honest you can get better fajita's at any chili's location. Surprised with this location being so close to Mexico that the Mexican food should be above par but to my disappointment it was not. On the plus side our server was great and the restaurant is huge so if you have a big group they will be able to accommodate almost any size. They served the garnish in two plastic ziploc containers with plastic spoons. The rims of the containers had crusted food on them. We didn't even open them for fear of what might be inside... I wonder how many double dippers this has been served to. The ramekins they served the lime and lemons in were still dirty. The curtains were covered in stains and the plates had food encrusted on them on the bottom. I ordered the Machaca taco's and they were straight garbage. The only saving grace was that the meat was okay in flavor, but mostly because it had been soaking in vegetable oil, I'm guessing. Their margarita's had ZERO alcohol in them. Those got sent back. The server took FOREVER and the food took even longer to come out after we ordered. The restaurant wasn't even close to busy. Needless to say you don't want to come here! After we placed our order we watched two other tables that came in after us receive their food before us. My kids fell asleep before they got their dinner. went there the other day. they said they open at 11AM and I got there 5 till and the gate was locked. at about 11:05 an employee showed up and let us in. Strike 1. we sat down and the group I was with all complained that the seats were so worn out it felt like we were siting on opened toilet seats, lack of , comfort Strike 2. we got the menus quickly and that was nice. after about 30-40 min. the waitress finally came to take our order. after waiting a very long time, we finally got our food, I had the machaca and eggs breakfast. it was well made but nothing super. after being served I had to ask for utensils, and a straw for my dring. (should have been provided before the meal was served.) Strike 3. the waitress waited over 45 min to see if we needed drekins to be refilled. Strike 4 time to pay: my meal cost 9.50 according to the menu, add another 2.85 (way to much for Ice Tea) the total should have been 12.35. she hands me a bill for 19.00. I asked if this included the tip and she said no.. Strike 5. I never got a receipt , never got a bill with my specific order on it. WTF are these people doing? are they not trained at all. well they were pleasant as they ripped me off and and gave me the worst service in the Imperial Valley. would I recommend this place, not on your life.! in summary , having crappy service and over charging me was enough to turn me off 4 ever. read more

Absolute deplorable treatment . On June 6 2019 , we ate there , after eating they mopped the tile in front entrance , didn't have a sign and my friend had a terrible fall . Instead of asking if hurt , employee immediately starting blaming us for her wet tile ( she had mop on hand ) we asked for manager , she said they didn't have one on site and she didn't even know his name . We left name and number at cash register asking for a call from owner or manager and have not received a call . Last night was the second time I've been here and it seems to me that they do much better at certain things than they do others. Sea food is clearly their strong point but their Margaritas are WEAK and the beer on tap was warm and flat (which they seem to be aware of), so opt for shots and bottles of beer. My wife has ordered the fried Red Snapper twice and both times it was great. I've had the Ceviche tostada, fish tacos and the little chiles stuffed with shrimp (Gueritos rellanos) and they were all good. I'd say its at least worth trying out if your interested in having Mexican seafood. Service was also a 3 out of 5, not really remarkable either way but not bad. read more

Stopped in here while traveling through and was nicely surprised! I had the shrimp tacos and was intrigued when he brought five bottles of sauce and two plastic containers with cabbage and pico de gallo to the table. It was obviously a 'do it yourself' kind of meal but it was actually really good! The shrimp were not deveined and the tiny bowl of chips didn't do justice to the two yummy bowls of salsa, but the waiter did box our food up for us. A friend recommended this place because we have both spent time in Mexico & know our Mexican food. They brought a sample of their homemade Mole' at our request & was so amazing, levels of spicy flavor & chocolate like I had in Oaxaca, the capital of Mole'. My husband and I go periodically, he really likes the shrimp cocktail. My issue is they still use lard. I am a vegatarian and I recently went to give the new vegatarian dishes a try. I struggle to find dishes here that are meat free. Well I order veg enchaladas and it comes with beans and rice- the beans they put on the table chips with salsa are made with lard ( I know because I asked the server ), so when my order arrives I asked if the beans on my plate were the same lard beans served on the chips, YES! " WELL THEN NOT VEGETARIAN AS ADVERTISED RIGHT"?!! The chips are fried in lard as well. We came to visit El Centro and stayed with a friend of mine. Came here to dinner on a Saturday night with a party of six people the ambience is very nice and very original Mexican-style there was a singer performing that night and the place was not too busy. We were seated in the room next to where the singer was performing and it was still too loud to the point that it was kind of annoying The food appetizers and the drinks all came out in orderly fashion they were all excellent quality and absolutely delicious. Service and staff were also good and the place was generally kept very clean. I am writing this review as I am walking out the door of this place. I can 't give a review on the food here though. Reason is , I never ordered. We walked in and lady at the register told us to sit where we like. We sat down at a table that looked clean but upon sitting down I realized it was filthy. Food every where. No plates though , which meant the bus boy took the plates but never wiped the table down. We have been here ten minutes waiting for them to clean the table, let alone take a drink or our actual order. Mind you the whole time the lady is still sitting at the register on her phone. My family and I are big fans of Guadalajara's and eat here often. The campechana's are loaded with abalone, shrimp, octopus, and scallops. The lobster has a delicious and delicate sauce that seems to include shredded crab meat -- delicious! My husband and I went with some friends on a Friday night. We order two sodas, two "large" cocktail shrimp and the aguachiles as an appetizer our bill ended up to fifty-nine dollars. The cocktails were delicious, the aguachiles could have been better. The service was fast but NOT attentive, we had various servers helping out, and we had to run after any server to get refills. Atmosphere was good due to the mariachi guy singing but the place is to small for the guy to be singing with a microphone, we could not hear each other with his singing.
