The chips were cold and greasy, tasted old. We ordered the fish and the shrimp tacos. Both were extremely greasy. There was thick greasy batter on the fried fish and the shells were dripping. We usually come to this restaurant as the service is always great and the food is okay. But today, was the worst. Waitress sat us in a part of the restaurant that was supposedly "cooler" and it was very suffocating and just so uncomfortable. Whatever we brushed it off as we thought it would get cool, it didn't. We ordered a carne asada burrito and got chicken, we had to stand up amd chase the waitress and request our order to be done correctly because the 2 waitresses had wandered off to god knows where. We also had the carne asada torta and it was soggy, filled with onion and the avocado was brown and unappetizing. The only good part was my sons quesadilla and fries. We also had no refill at all so there's that. Will not come to this place again. Remodel all you want but you need new attentive staff and a new chef. Guadalajara's is known for the excellent food, and they do not disappoint. Their staff is equally excellent: very friendly and attentive. The food here is a little pricier than your average Mexican food place, but well worth it. You definitely pay for what you get. Do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. read more

On Friday June 28 my husband and I visited this restaurant. I asked the waitress for a pineapple mojito and she said "if it's not on the menu we don't have it." Well she decided to ask someone else and was told that the restaurant did have this drink. When I ordered my meal I let her know that I didn't want sour cream but I wanted pineapple pick and another sauce. Well, when she brought my meal out there was sour cream on top of my cabbage touching my avocado. I asked for more cabbage and avocado and she charged me for it insisting that she didn't hear me say "no sour cream." She said she could not remove it from the bill and that she would get the manager. The manager came over and after I explained why I shouldn't be charged he happily removed. Worst service ever, the carne Asada quesadilla my wife ordered looked like they cleaned the grease off the grill with it. Horrible presentación and greasy as eff. Never refilled or even asked to refill drinks. When we asked if they could correct the food issues the cook seemed to get upset patted the grease with a napkin and sent it back to us. One of the best Authentic Mexican food restaurants in El Centro. The lunch special prices are great for the portions they give. I got the mole, which was delicious. It was a sweet and spicy. I came in the day before Mother's Day and when I saw the parking lot I was expecting it to be packed and busy but much to my surprise, in a full room, our party of eight was seated quickly. All of our food was delicious and this was one of the rare moments for me in a Mexican restaurant to have a waitress who was fluent in English and Spanish. This is a destination place if you love mexican style seafood like i do. When you arrive you will notice no seafood smell- a great sign your in for fresh food! We began our meal with a seafood appetizer plate- one of the best i have ever had - and generous portions! The Guadalajara lobster is over the top... heavy garlic and butter infused with the head stuffed with shrimp. The stuffed tilapia is out of this world- easily the best fish dish i have ever tasted. Stuffed with shrimp wrapped in bacon- yum! I have eaten in places charging 5x the price for meals but the quality and creative recipes offered here far outshine them (Specifically the highly touted Blue Point restaurant in san diego pales in comparison- my $17 seafood appetizer at Guadalajara cost me $90 at Blue Point for a fraction of the food- and the entrees here are better too!) The Friday night live entertainment and inexpensive beer and margaritas add to this family businesses appeal. We will likely hire a limo next time to take the 1.2 hour drive from San Diego to El Centro to experience what is the finest Mexican seafood restaurant in southern California. When i read reviews about service being bad here i wonder if my experiences are so positive because i go on friday and saturdays? been back two more times this week- so good- the bacon wrapped shrimp is out of this world. This is thee place for lobster- i cant get enough of the garlic/shrimp stuffed whole lobster! I wish yelp allowed multiple reviews... I keep returning and have never been disappointed. read more

A Mexican restaurant that places emphasis on seafood and still caters to the traditional carvings of other simple delights such as quesadillas and tacos; some with a seafood twist. The service here is excellent, though sometimes it seems like they are trying too hard to be overly friendly. The environment is outstanding, the food is delicious and it is conveniently located. Just say NO to the flautas. I ordered the chicken flautas off the lunch special. They weren't flour, but corn tortillas. Very poor quality corn tortillas. Half of each flauta didn't have meat and the parts that did have chicken was a very small amount and dry. The beans were good though. read more

Had to make an account just to say that this place is GREAT. I and my family had went to celebrate here this weekend hoping for the charro but sadly did not come we still had a great time!! Food was excellent we had lobster which was excellent! The waitress recommend this fillet filled with shrimp and my wife loved it ! Very delicious. Not only was the food great but the waitress Lesley was on task. Always smiling and very polite. Left very well satisfied! But hope to see charro soon been going for two weeks and still haven't had a chance to hear him sing it's been a while. read more

After searching for a restaurant online, this place looked like it was the perfect place to go for some good Mexican food and a big margarita. I was right about the food part but that's IT!!! If you are coming here for a good cocktail, you will be sadly disappointed. The margarita I ordered had no flavor and it didn't taste like there was any liquor in it. I then ordered a Cadillac margarita hoping the get the flavor I was looking for. Nope! It was the same drink with a tiny watered down shot on the side. The server was pleasant but not attentive. The chips and salsa they served when we got there was enough for 4 bites --totally disappointed but the fajitas were delicious. I'll never go back but it's El Centro, can't expect 4 stars read more

Don't get how some people like the food at this place. Must not have any taste buds. The first time I went there was bad enough over a year ago, but my husband wanted to give them a second chance... YUK! Our table was sticky (should have been a big tip off). I don't usually write reviews but I must in this instance because I am disgusted that they choose to serve food that has obviously been re-cycled from other days, weeks? that could potentially get people sick. We were there on a Saturday so I am guessing it was leftovers from the previous week. The server suggested the mixed fajitas, hmmmm wonder why. Could it be they had leftover cooked chicken and carne to get rid of? I was the sucker who ordered it and out came a literal "hot mess." Not only was it burnt, the beef so tough it could not be chewed or cut with the knife they gave me, the chicken was old, the veggies questionable. GROSS is not the word. I only tasted three little bites and then told my husband there was no way I was going to eat what they served me. I ate one flour tortilla and the side green salad just because I was hungry from not eating all day. My husband ordered the Chile rellenos which were soggy and bland. The salsa was watery and flavorless, couldn't even taste garlic. I wish I would have asked for the owner and refused to pay, it was that BAD. We were charged nearly 50 dollars for food that was I inedible. Went away feeling ripped off, angry and still hungry. Suggestions: Clean, serve hardworking and hungry customers FRESH food and get a new cook. Will not be a three-peat customer. read more
