Empanadas were yummy! 4 minutes to fry so wait was quick. The dough/crust was tasty, but a bit greasy. Fillings were also tasty. Shredded chicken had great flavor. Seafood consisted of chopped up large pieces of octopus, shrimp, and calamari. What's even better was they were surprisingly still good when microwaved the next day (was too lazy to heat it properly). Definitely dip with lots of sauce! at one point i was on a empanada roll and wanted to try all of them! Until i ate an empanada from somewhere that cracked my wisdom tooth! i was so traumatized from that whole ordeal that i just completely gave up eating it. That all changed when i tried Guaiqueri maybe a month or two after my mouth healed. Their empanada's weren't oily and hard (even if you air fry it later if you even end up with extras). They are mostly pop up and you'll have to check their instagram for their schedule. Most of the time they are at some kind of farmers market somewhere. Last time I contacted them they were only able to provide food if you met them at a market, now they do catering orders. Yay! They have a minimum order of 12 - let's face it, you could probably eat 12 by yourself - so we were all in. They bill you for half the order when they take it, and the other half once it's delivered, which I just loved, because that means we're all on the same page. Obviously, the empanadas themselves were delicious (not to mention sizeable), but even more importantly was the amazing customer service and overall communication. The first time I tried these, I drove to her place in Waikiki to pick up. Since then, she's expanded and does meet-ups all ova da island. This is great, since I'm rarely in Waiks, anymore. The owner does a fabulous job of keeping her IG up to date, with different flavors, specials, how-to-order, and meet-up locations and dates. The most recent time we ordered was for the Salt Lake meet-up, and it did not disappoint. Side note, these are best enjoyed fresh (obviously), but if you're taking them home, they taste just good if you just throw them in the air fryer for a little bit. So far, my favorites are the shredded beef (a classic, pretty much stays on the menu) and the chicken with cream cheese (a special, but it's recurring). All empanadas are not created equal, so here's what to expect with these. Each darling is pretty large--I'd say about as large as my hand. That said, one person could probably eat 2-3 and feel pretty satisfied. The dip that comes with is very refreshing, tho I'm most of a heat person, so I wish I could have this plus something spicy. Speakin' of, I know she has recently added another special to the menu, a spicy shrimp, so of course that's the next one I'll be trying! It has just a hiiiint of sweetness which is so subtle you might almost miss it, and I love it. You can choose from different flavors like chorizo, shredded beef, chicken, black beans & cheese, ground beef, cheese, etc. She also makes this AMAZING green sauce (it says on their instagram that it's called Guasacaca) which I just can't explain in words with how good it is. first time trying Venezuelan style empanadas and i was not disappointed at all! super easy to order online and select when you want to pickup, and quick no hassle curbside pickup too. you just have to plan at least a day in advance to get your order in. and if you dont/cant drive out to waikiki to pickup there are also random days of the week where they do pickup in other areas at 5pm. so i highly recommend following GE on instagram so you can be up to date on new flavors and pickup locations i wanted a good variety for my first time so i got the spicy chorizo & cheese, ham & cheese, and the spicy shrimp since it featured Celines chili oil. all of them were super good. while i am not a fan of corn tortillas (because theyre dryer and crumblier and i dont like the texture), these are nothing like that. the corn dough is thick and has a slight crunch from being deep fried, but its still a bit on the softer side and has a nice texture. its not flaky crumbly like a cuban style empanada thats been baked. the guasacaca sauce added a nice refreshing creamy flavor to the hearty empanadas. ham & cheese is definitely a good option if youre tentative about trying these out, just be prepared for gooey cheese to run out as you bite/cut into it! and i think out of the other two that i had i like the shrimp one the best, so i'd definitely recommend getting that one. cant wait to try the other options! theyre also super nice, so customer service gets 5stars too! very genuine and appreciative of your business, and delivery with a smile! plus follow up DMs to thank me for ordering and that they were happy i thoroughly enjoyed them. and i did. i inhaled all of them lol read more

I've enjoyed many an empanada in South Florida, and was intrigued by a review of Guaiqueri Empanadas I saw somewhere a few weeks back (HAWAII Magazine maybe? I don't recall now). At first I wasn't quite sure how to order. I couldn't find the business in Google Maps. Their Facebook page has a link to a website - which in turn has no info and only has links back to their Facebook and Instagram sites (I'm not on the latter). So I just shot a message via Facebook Messenger inquiring where the business was and how to go about ordering. I was informed of the pickup location (outside a condo in Waikiki) and to just go about my order via messenger (their daily menu is posted on their Facebook page). For a lunch for two at Ala Moana Park, I chose two cheese empanadas, two spicy chorizo empanadas, and two of the "daily special" chicken and cream cheese empanadas, and confirmed a pickup at 1:30pm. Payment was quick and easy via Venmo. At 1:30 I picked the empanadas up right on time, delivered in a smart-looking box accompanied by napkins and 3 tubs of Peruvian Green Sauce. And off to the park we went. Not knowing which empanada was which, we selected the two closest to the lid opening, which turned out to be the most basic of the bunch - the cheese empanada. The shell had a hint of sweetness, which perfectly accompanied the delightful, crumbly white cheese inside. We next devoured the chicken and cream cheese - even better than the first! The perfectly-fried shell was different for this empanada - more of a cornbread-type crust, which paired wonderfully with the chicken. And despite the varied flavors of both the crusts and fillings, the green sauce worked perfectly with all! We each had a spicy chorizo empanada awaiting us - but we couldn't. These things are pretty big. Delicious. Filling. And unless you're starving, two is more than enough for a meal. So we took the remaining two back to the condo, did some beach time, some pool time, and had the last empanadas for dinner. The chorizo was tasty - I wouldn't call it "spicy" myself, but quite flavorful. I'm excited to see how it pairs as a "chorizo and cheese" special this weekend. Prices are quite reasonable ($4 for the basic menu empanadas and $5 for their specials). Getting full on delicious food for under $10 is almost unheard of in this town! So, 5 stars - definitely recommend. It's strictly take out, obviously (COVID or not) so you'll have to make your own beverage plans.
