Hello people........ As you guys already know, I do not post a whole on yelp and if I do. That means the place was either really good or really bad.......in this case I have to say. This place was extremely bad, went there today at 11am this morning 08-22-2026. Me and my friend went there as a first timer, and ONLY went there because of there high ratings, huge mistake. When we got there, seats were limited so we had to wait, the cashier told us, in order to reserve or get seated, we would have to order our food first, before we even got seated.....mind you we are waiting for a table and they wanted us to order food to get seated. Who does that!!! They also said if we don't order and if someone comes in and orders food and waiting for a table they would get it before us, wowwwwww really!!!! In any restaurant, customer service should be priority, especially if you want them coming back. Not here, customer service is beyond poor and I am ONLY giving them a 2 stars because the food was just decent, not wow factor and not a disappointment, but it is overpriced, see my receipt I posted and you be the judge. So in conclusion, if you do decide to eat here, DO NOT SIT down when you arrive, they WILL not come and take your order as you have to order your food at the cashier first then you can sit. I don't like complaining, but damn what a disappointment. I seen this place on Instagram and thought it was going to be good! But I was wrong, hugely disappointed. Aside from that, they make you pay first! Maybe so people can't complain of the food! I got the chilaquiles which look like they are just chips with tomato sauce, which costed 17$ alone, and the eggs or meat cost more to add! WTF! We came to Guajillo restaurant on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in hopes of having a wonderful lunch. We were greeted by a young man who offered us to sit down so that we could stand up to take our order at the register later. After we ordered and proceeded to sit down again, we were presented with our sopita roja con Chilaquiles. Huarache was dry and has maybe 2-3 frijoles machucados. While enjoying our food another worker came by and took one of our plates with food in it before we were all finished. Not only overpriced but they take the food back if you don't eat fast enough. Found myself here on a sunny Sunday with the most amazing plate of chilaquiles and a mango margarita that really sets the tone for the rest of the weekend. Guajillo has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants. The food is consistently delicious and the new alcohol portion of the menu is going to be a mainstay. The food is served "en el estilo de Mexico DF" and has delicious flavors and spices. I have tried pretty much the whole menu, but the showstopper is the chilaquiles topped with carne asada and two eggs. It is next-level, authentic and tasty. The ambiance is festive and there is always a good-sized crowd, but the staff is friendly, courteous and finds a way to keep everything moving. Honestly it feels like a second home to me, and they know a lot of their customers by name. Just an incredible group of people. The salsa is the secret weapon. I come weekly for it so I can have table salsa at my house throughout the week for my own meals. I have brought several friends here, and they have rave reviews as well. Simple and effective process to keep food coming out quick and burning hot. Casual indoor setting with seating for small to mid size groups. The menudo is bland, or from a can, or too much hominy. He said, hominy?? Menudo doesn't have hominy. Only pozole has hominy. I said, well, all the menudo I've ever ate had hominy in it. Even my grandma made menudo with granos. He said, "No, no, no, no. El menudo no lleve granos. Con grano ya no es menudo. Y tampoco le pones cilantro." I said, okay, well now I gotta find a spot that makes Menudo without granos. I called Guajillo to as how they make they're menudo. I asked if it was made by hand, or from a can. They said house made. I asked if they make menudo with granos. They said, "Noooo, menudo no lo hace con granos." I said, ok, I found a place to try. They seem promising so far. We ordered our menudo. I ordered mine with pata and he didn't. The soup came out and the broth was a rich, deep, red color. The panza was soft. The pata was cooked perfectly. Ooooo it looked and smelled so good. It looked like it was going to be some of the best menudo I have ever had. I added onion and oregano and I started. So delicious! The pata and panza was amazing. I buttered up my homemade tortilla with some salt and I ate that with the menudo. Guau. The hot, soft, hand made tortillas and butter were incredible. I ate half and then traded with my friend for half of his huarache with asada and over easy egg. That was so good too! First time here. We saw a Facebook reel by ErickSabill0n. I recommend you arrive early and be prepared to wait as the food is prepared fresh, including the tortillas. I had the bistec ranchero, and my partner had a huarache with eggs over medium. He told them it was my birthday, and they brought a flan with a candle. We also had two pieces of Mexican sweet bread and coffee. We enjoyed everything and had leftovers for another sitting. We highly recommend this place. I don't get it WHY restaurants say they have cafe de olla and it's cafe with cinnamon. Please google Cafe de olla and see the big difference. Food is ok, not a big deal Service- you order and pay . The people here are rude. My mom a 79 year old woman who has a hard time walking and standing was not allowed to sit before placing her order. My brother was in line to order the food, but the guy told my mom to get up a leave the seat for other people. How inconsiderate of him. The chilaquiles here are very popular, they are quite delicious, I usually get the green ones with the carne asada and sometimes eggs over hard just like I like it. The tortilla chips are just right not to soggy, they are fresh and crunchy sometimes, the salsa is flavorful its a hit or miss on the heat, sometimes its a little too spicy for me but its still delicious. The steak ranchero is pretty good, that is the hubby's favorite along with their fresh made tortillas and the sauce is just right. French fries are good nice and crispy as well. This is definitely our new favorite spot. Im surprised they didn't have a Yelp page for this location (South Gate) I didn't know there was another location in Huntington Park but in my opinion this one is better and there is definitely more parking spots here. read more
