I have been here more times than I care to admit and will continue to come back. It's so good. Their green salsa is amazing, their habanero one is spicy and delicious. Wait time:I came here on a Sunday afternoon. Our wait time was about 40 minutes. Food is Great . Customer service Is really terrible . Many times that I come the workers seem to be having a bad attitude. They get upset for everything . ( example - they get upset for asking extra napkins , asking for extra sauce to accommodate my meal . Management needs to talk to employees or hire better people . The service was not great but they were fast. Food came out quickly. we both ordered the Chilaquiles birria. I had verde my coworker had rojo. Presentation is cool, and they bring cream to the table and add it if you want. Taste was delicious. The black beans under the chilaquiles were really good. More onion on top would have been good, even better some pickled onion would be amazing. We also shared a blueberry tamal. It was so good! moist, not overly sweet. Prices were pretty good. This place was overall ok. I had high expectations and some were met, others weren't. It is one of those restaurants where it would be worth coming at least once to get some decent Mexican breakfast. This place has a cute atmosphere, but unfortunately, the experience falls short. The café de olla had an unexpected licorice flavor, almost like an absinthe aftertaste, which was off-putting. I ordered the taquitos de papa, and they were served in a plastic container that looked like it was reused from a takeout order. All the toppings, sauce, sour cream, and lettuce, were sitting at the bottom, leaving the second taquito soggy and unappetizing after the first bite. I couldn't even finish it. The chorizo con papa was average at best, though at least it was served on a real plate. My suggestion: if your concha is plated, all dishes should be plated. Came here with my family and was told it was a 30 minute wait time, but instead we had to wait in the scorching sun and were seated almost an hour after. My egg was undercooked (ordered it over medium and it was over easy), and the portion of meat was minimal (not enough to be charging $6 extra for it). A family member ordered the menudo and it was bland, lacking of that authentic menudo flavor. I looked over to the side and the table next to us also left their chilaquiles and menudo half full, surely they were disappointed with the lack of flavor. I saw many negative reviews before going and gave them the benefit of the doubt, but was sadly disappointed. They should focus on seasoning their food more. Do not recommend. read more

Service was okay, we had to ask for utensils as well. The chilaquiles had really good flavor--my mom was impressed! The red sauce wasn't too overpowering like at some other places. I didn't really like the sopes, they tasted bland. Be aware they are not traditional French toast so don't expect the fluffy ones you're used to. Horrible service!!!! We arrived and there was no one ahead of us. The lady kept telling us that they were cleaning a table for us for over 30 minutes. During that time she kept seating people that were arriving after us. We had a party of 6, the other parties had 4 and even 5. At least 8 parties got seated that arrived after us. I kept going in to check and at one point there was a large table and she said they were going to clean for us. When I checked again, they had sat other people and said they were going to wait for other people from another table to leave. This restaurant is so good. I do not understand why it has 3 stars instead of 5. Yes if you go on busy days there is a long wait time but that is in any other restaurant that is popular. To me they deserve 5 stars because the food is delicious and the service is great. I have been there 2 times and both times we had a great service. First time we did wait like 40 minutes but it was so worth it. Another time we only had to wait 10 minutes. The coffee is good and perfect pair with the pan dulce. We also tried the tamales and they were delicious. We have tried the chilaquiles for breakfast and the birria plate with hand made tortillas and OMG! I am severing the food just thinking about it again. This is a great place to eat definitely not for big groups unless you are willing to wait because it is a small restaurant but everything inside is beautiful. Heard the hype about this restaurant and had to come check it out, our first time here. I must note, I will always be critical of mexican food, as I will always compare it to my mother's but, I will do my best to be fair. We ordered a pork tamale, it was OK. I ordered one enchilada with extra salsa and a flour tortilla. Unfortunately, the enchilada was not fresh, tasted and looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The salsa for the enchilada was extra spicy as they added slices of jalapeños. Sadly, my one flower tortilla was burnt - not good at all!!! I then ordered a corn tortilla, which was much better. Hubby ordered bierria tacos, the consume was greasy and the tacos lacked flavor. The Horchata was good. Our waiter Edwin was excellent and took great care of us! I'm sad to say the restaurant name is deceiving as it doesn't feel like "abuelita" was in the kitchen cooking.
