The second time I went, my Carne Asada Burrito was full of fat and gristle, I chalked that up as a one off experience. Went again tonight, and it appears that the fat and gristle wasn't a one off problem. It blows my mind that these small shops don't make sure their food is top notch. This place isn't that bad. Their burritos are huge. Ordered a carne Asada burrito and I wasn't able to finish it and finished it in two servings and kept me full. The burrito itself was good and tasteful. My wife ordered their rolled tacos entree, and was cravings tacos so she decided to try that, as she ate it, she mentioned the taco itself was pretty bland and tasteless. We love it here! Lately they haven't been getting as much char on the steak as they used to, but it still tastes good. They also recently changed their red hot sauce to have more chipotle flavor, which I am not a fan of. It still tastes good, but not as good. I hope it is just a one off change and not permanent. Unfortunately, I am hesitant to go again bc the employees don't wear masks so I don't want to go inside and in the drive thru lane they asked me to pull into a spot that was behind my car and diagonally the opposite direction of the way my car would be facing approaching it. The GualBertos chains are some of the few places that are open 24/7 in this area. The service is always quick and the cashier are mostly helpful. They served great breakfast burritos and carne asada nachos. This time I tried the carne asada fries. The meat was tasty and all the condiments were fresh, but I wish the fries were fried longer to be more crispy. read more

Christmas Eve, Independence Day, a birthday, a child heading off to college, a child coming home - all great occasions for our favorite meal. We also appreciate the restaurant's generous hours. We've sampled all the Mexican restaurants along 12600 S and consider Gual Berto's chile verde the tastiest and most authentic. Serving sizes are generous as well. read more

We've both eaten in and taken out from Gual Bertos and on both occasions, we've enjoyed it immensely. I think that there Carne Asada burrito is outstanding, which is typically my point of comparison for all Mexican restaurants. While not as good as Santana's in Joshua Tree / Yucca Valley or Robertos Taco Shop in San Diego, it's still pretty good. Not open 24 hours a day even though they won't remove their sign. On the back side of the building where the drive-through begins it shows, "new hours." They close at 2am now. Not a huge issue, but when I arrive at 1:30 am since I'm working at night and they had decided to close early for the second time on me, I've decided not to return. I asked at the window why they were closing early, and they told me they didn't want to work this late especially if nobody has come for hours (mind you, there was a recent customer directly in front of me driving away from the drive through area with their food ). This restaurant obviously needs a customer service improvement especially via reliability. The food is kind of hit and miss. I usually have liked to get one of their huge burritos. I got their steak Quesadilla before and recommend chicken or just cheese over it since the steak quality lacked. Rancherito's down the road is much better and way more reliable. They were open both times this place decided to close early on me, it's brighter, cleaner and overall more customer focused. read more

The food is great! I have been eating here for 6 years and have never been disappointed. The last time I was there, the owner was quite rude though so I am only giving 3 stars. He wanted to charge extra for the items normally found on the toppings bar that has always been free. Due to COVID-19, they cannot use the bar and have had to ask for them. This is one of the original BETOS that are all around. I specifically like this one! The crispy chicken tacos are almost a secret menu item but are one of the best!
