Food was extremely basic, expensive for what you get. I could have whipped it up in minutes at home and had more flavor.

Absolutely delicious!…read more I got a BOGO free burrito coupon from their FB feed, so why not? So glad I did! I had the spicy green chili burrito--delicious! Smothered inside and out with their very fine green chili. The tortillas seem homemade, it was fresh and good. My wife had the carne asada burrito. I got a bite of it and the beef is delicious! Such good flavors. I also had the pinto beans and rice, both are very good. The horchata, made with almond milk, was creamy and just the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. They serve flour and corn tortilla chips with three salsas. The chips were excellent. The flour chips are deep fried, really good. The red salsa was the hottest but not bad for heat. The green was good. Now the crema sauce was my favorite, it is really excellent. Nice restaurant, comfortable chairs, nice decor that goes along with their theme. Looks like a comfortable bar. Service was friendly and accommodating. I would like to eat here again and take advantage of the FB coupon for their tacos. Highly recommended! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

My SO was craving a burrito from here so I grudgingly went along for moral support, if not to eat…read more Based on my snacking off of his plate and perusing the new menu, I am bumping them up to 4 stars. The food is still very good here and some of my previous gripes are no longer an issue. I can now order tacos and burritos à la carte again. While there is still no way to go pick whatever salsa I want and the options are still more limited than before, at least they bring out 3 of my favorites with the chips now. The drinks are still just okay , a shadow of their former selves and I will never be able to accept the loss of my beloved watermelon margarita, the way they used to make it, but I will concede the drinks are decent. Service was fine. Parking is a hassle but that's just Sugarhouse. ‍ So yeah, I guess I'm back to "willing to eat here once in a while", from "I'm never eating here again". They even have a nice taco Tuesday deal which I may hit up in the near future.

I was pleasantly surprised by the decor inside, they have spent a great deal for this location. I ordered chips and salsa to start. These were not complimentary but when they arrived the salsa was fresh and unique. I was glad I ordered them. My wife chose the carne asada burrito. She raved about the flavor and could only finish half. I ordered a unique taco which had an authentic name this gringo cannot remember but it was built on a house made corn tortilla about twenty inches long and ten inches wide. Steak, Mexican cream, tomatillo sauce, freshly shredded lettuce and cheese. I've never had anything like it but it is awesome. The service was quick and efficient. Very delightful people. The check had included a 15% Service Charge so I was glad to see the options on the screen to add a tip began at a level that matched up with the service charge at a reasonable level. I only had one complaint, The music was a little loud. The sound system is great and I loved the authentic music but the baseline was pumping loud enough to hurt my ears. I'd recommend adjusting the volume or the mix to make it a little more comfortable. Overall I loved this experience and will definitely want to come again. No pictures, sorry.

I tried their enchiladas today and I'm not surprised that they were delicious! When you enter you are welcomed with a big smile from the staff. Will definitely come back and bring my wife. FAST review I may be…read morePuro Gringo but I know my Mexican food. We saw a post on Instagram about the Duckie drink at El Chihuahua, so had to give it a try. Food: interesting salsa, includes celery, tad too watery, but decent. I got the Chihuahua Combo which came with a Chili verde enchilada, beef enchilada and a chili relleno. Chili Verde Enchilada: the flour tortilla was doughy and I couldn't eat it. The chili Verde however was really good, with a nice picante spice. Chili Relleno was good, though the egg batter was a tad bit wet, maybe eat that first. Beef Enchilada disappointed as it was just ground beef. Overall the taste was good, just disappointed with some aspects of the dish. We got the Mango Duckie drink which was good. The wife doesn't like Mexican food so she got the adult version of chicken strips, which were fine. Atmosphere: loud, lots of TVs showing FIFA Word cup. Great Mexican feel. Everyone was enjoying the restaurant! Service: our waitress Deisy was awesome! Tips: get the Duckie!

I never wanted to write a bad review about a favorite of mine, but tonight may have curved our decision on coming here again. Our plates of food came to the table like slop. Our server barely asked how our meal was or if we wanted more to drink, and dropped our paid check off without saying thank you, come back again or kiss my A$$! The days of spending $100 on slop food and bad service has infiltrated El C and I hate it. We walk to come here from our neighborhood. I'd rather drive somewhere else new- and hope for the best. El Chihuahua.... Peace out
