Ok, so I came back to sample another menu item and the experience wasn't as good as the first time... at all. I ordered one of their combination plates (chili relleno, enchilada & tostada) and offered to order something else after hearing the mother and daughter verbally going back and forth over the chili relleno. I only fluently speak American English and very little Spanish so I obviously could have been wrong in what I thought I heard the women talking about. Regardless, the younger one at the register (with a little attitude in her tone) grabs the menu and points to what I ordered and says something like 'you order, si?' so at that point I'm kind of like 'what the... ?' Anyway, took my combination plate home. The beans were really good and the chili relleno was pretty good as well. The other items were good; but seemed rather average in flavor. Both the tostada and enchilada were chicken which I didn't ask for, nor did anyone ask at the time of me placing my order. I felt like they looked down on me for not speaking Spanish... in America none the less. It's great to see that this restaurant is still in business and survived the pandemic. I first came to La Roca when it first opened and last visited on May 2021. Definitely a hidden gem in Redwood City. This place has better food than any of the overpriced Mexican restaurants downtown. Traditional Mexican dishes served with hand made tortillas. Some of my favorites are the enchiladas rancheras, caldo de res, milanesa and any of the shrimp dishes. Be ready for a long wait as they have limited number of staff working. Be patient; it's worth the wait. Call in order for take out and give about 20 mins to pick up. read more

What a great Mexican restaurant, is a very small place in Redwood City but it's food is amazing! I order Chile rellenos in caldo that comes with hand made tortillas and my partner ordered enchiladas rancheras with chicken. Both dishes were very delicious. read more

ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND! The food is very tasty. The caldo de pescado is very good and their chicken tacos are also delicious. They make fresh handmade tortillas and aguas frescas such as tamarind and pineapple which make the this place even better. The staff is very kind and helpful. There is also easy access to parking. The shop is closed for indoor dining due to COVID but it looks very clean inside and staff is wearing their masks. Will definitely keep coming here! read more

Great combo fajita! We got the chicken and shrimp. It was terrific. Lots of meat and shrimp. The food is cooked and made on the spot. The beer selection is great for Mexican choices. TV was on soccer. The music was on Spanish channel. Great experience! We loved our meal. Very well cooked. Plenty of parking. Well priced. Staff was friendly and helpful. Went there for Dinner with my Wife and Baby, was only 3 tables for the whole restaurant not a rush. Server rolled her eyes when we sat down. She told us they are 7 plates behind so we choose to stayed. 38 minutes later I went and asked about the food and they said the food is going to be ready when is gonna be ready. We are paying for food and service and the menu prices are not cheap. If you can't handle three tables please close your doors or make some menu changes so your menu is easy to execute and you don't waste peoples time. read more

HEY! Their shrimp pasta is AMAZING, I totally agree. Their fish taco were really good too, and they were VERY friendly. One point off for their strange teriyaki fajitas....NOT.VERY.MEXICAN. Otherwise...a pretty great place to dump some change. read more

Utterly disgusting. Had them through a Waiter.com delivery today and it was terrible. I normally give the benefit of the doubt to delivery but there were some egregious errors with the food. I ordered Chicken Enchiladas with rice and beans. The refried beans had a funky fish taste to them. The rice had crunchy bits. The Enchiladas were not cooked to the point where the cheese inside was not melted and had no meat or sauce. Instead a bland fried chicken leg had been placed on top of the dish. I can forgive a delivery dish not being perfect when it arrives but this dish was barely cooked. I would not recommend them for dining nor delivery. Im giving them 3 stars because the service and the pineapple agua fresca were good. But my huevos rancheros were not what I was expecting. If I'm not wrong they are supposed to be 2 eggs on top of tortillas with salsa. Instead I got 2 fried eggs with some bell pepper on the side with rice and avocado. Great Mexican! Very casual atmosphere futbol on two screens. Excellent salsa - good and spicy. Zopitos were like mini Indian fry breads with juicy chicken - tasty. Chili verde had a great fresh tang. Had a FANTASTIC experience at this spot. Sure. Some of it was the company. In addition to the really tasty food and fresh ingredients... As always.... It was the 'little' unexpected things that counted most. How the server returned with the 'baby' Corona and the 'baby' Mexi-cola to ask which ones we really wanted... because he was unsure on the size order and didn't want to ass-u-me. How he stayed on top of our drinks throughout the meal. How he surprised me after inquiring if I wanted corn or flour tortillas and I responded "flour please"... he asked... "You want the pre-made or fresh ones?" Then I'm like... "You serve homemade tortillas? HELL YEAH!" Brutha just grinned that knowing grin and heads off to the kitchen.... How my Snapper arrived sauteed' to PERFECTION. How I inhaled five tortillas in a row... and without missing a beat and I get another tray of five, hot off the griddle homemade tortillas sliding onto the table just as I'm finishing the last bite of the last tortilla.... How he brought two lollipops with the check... different flavors... and when he noticed soon after my company didn't pick up theirs.... kindly asked "You want me to go get you another flavor?"
