Maybe a sign for Californians to stay out! Haha. Even though my clutch gave out, I was able to drive the car all the way to Eugene and pulled into the Fred Meyer off the Beltline. My girlfriend was already in town and stayed a few houses down from the shop, so I gave Autobahn Imports a call. They quoted me a solid price, and told me it'd either be fixed the same day (Friday), or will be fixed Monday. Unfortunately, my transmission was having some issues separating, so we'd have to wait til Monday. I felt a bit bad calling and bugging them to get an update, I really wanted to drive around the Portland and Washington area in my car, but they updated me with every call. I was able to get my car back Monday with no issues other than my speedometer not working. I didn't notice this until I took off for a drive to get some food, and was able to get back before they closed. They checked the plugs on the VSS, and it looked fine. Unfortunately, we couldn't give it a better look. They were closing, and I had to drive home that same day. The clutch got a good break in on the way home though! However, I did take the VSS out and noticed it was missing the little key inside that spins. So the key may have came out when they took the VSS out, or it somehow disappeared on its own. I went ahead and got a replacement at home, and it's fixed now. Overall, great service and great price. They also gave me the car a courtesy wash. I highly recommend them.

Unfortunately they forgot to screw the window control panel back in for the driver side door. Popped out after trying to pull the window back up while driving. Surprise! Rearview mirror wiring harness was also loose. Grease on the seat. I get shops are dirty, but maybe wipe up after? I fixed all these issues after the fact, but triple-test everything as soon as you get your car.

I'm new to the PNW, so color me surprised when I turned on my outside car's heater and got hit with…read morethe distinct scent of zoo and port-a-potty. Yup. Rats had moved in. This being a time-sensitive matter, as rats could end up chewing through wires the longer they live in your engine compartment, Sun Automotive thankfully made space for my poor car the same day I called. They kept my car for 3 days and were able to work it in around other customers. They found the nest in my heater box and removed it and sanitized everything and changed the air filter where the rats had started another nest. After all of that, they sprayed herbal rat repellent and sent me on my way. They're pretty expensive, the rat repellent they sprayed was about $140, but they do good work, communicate updates well, and they worked me in same-day when other mechanics I called quoted me a whole week out. Overall, I'm very pleased that they were able to get the rats out before any more damage could occur. My car is now safely in a garage, so this will hopefully never happen again. I plan to return to Sun Automotive for regular maintenance.

You might see some positive reviews and that's only because the people that are writing them still don't know they got ripped off. I arrived in Eugene OR five years ago and the engine light went on in my SUV. I happen to be near an auto parts store and knew they had some testing device. They said they I needed some part replaced, I don't remember what it was called now, but it was $200 and easy to install. I didn't buy it then but went to Sun Automotive on Rustic Pl., to get an estimate to fix it. they looked me in the face and said it was gonna cost $900. I told him how the auto parts store said it would only cost $200 for the part and that would be easy to install. but Sun Automotive said the auto parts store didn't know what they were talking about and to replace it would be very difficult to get to. I suspected a rip off and went to a different auto repair company down the road. Not only did they tell me it was easy to replace that part, but when they checked out the car, the only thing that was wrong was that the gas cap was loose. I'm telling you folks and I have nothing to gain for making this up. These are conniving thieves. BUYER BEWARE !
