Pache Tamale Pupusa Atol de Elote Rellenitos
    Jane B.

I visited this bakery with my friend and it was such a chill experience. It's in an inconspicuous spot on Beverly Blvd but once you see it, it's hard to miss. Parking is plenty on the street across from it. Just make sure to check the times for street sweeping. Once inside, they have a little market area on the left where you can purchase snacks and drinks, in the front left is their bakery items and the right is where the food buffet is where you can order combo plates. My friend and I ordered the Rellenitos-mashed plantains stuffed with sweet black beans (make sure to ask for Crema! Sour cream!), Pache-potato tamales with pork, pupusa with pork and cheese, a Concha, and 1 Atol De Elote. The Rellenitos were so yummy! They were fried to perfection with plenty of sweet black beans inside. Adding the sour cream with it added a savory kick which I really enjoyed. Pache-I have never had a potato tamales before so this was a new experience. The texture is very interesting. It kind of reminds me of silken tofu with a grit to it if that makes sense. Smooth but with a bite. The tomato sauce on top was the perfect balance of sweet and sour and I really enjoyed that it wasn't salty at all. It had a good amount of meat inside as well. Pupusa with pork and cheese-this was my favorite! It came with this red sauce and pickled cabbage of sorts and it was the most delicious together! The flavor of the sauce balanced out the cheese and pork and the cabbage added a lovely texture. Concha-sorry for no picture but it was very good. It's smaller than the Mexican concha's that I grew up eating. The bread was not as sweet which I liked and I enjoyed the texture. While chewy, it had a fluffiness to it. Atol De Elote-this drink was at the perfect temperature to enjoy. It had chunks of corn in it as well. The taste reminds me of a corn porridge but less sweet. It's more of dessert drink for me!

The food was really good I came 2 days in a row! I'm a no-sabo kid so the ladies were really friendly and helpful with my ordering. The rice and beans are on point the chicharron is amazing and the sausage is a must order with the salsa and onion. Will be back again.

Not the friendliest but the food is good. Beans on point. Chicharron and tamales are really good. Bread is also good to have on the side of your tamale and black beans. Good food definitely recommend this place. The ladies are quick in here so be ready for what you want.

She took me here. The place was very clean and tidy with a lot of different types of sweet treats. I was there for one thing only. I did ask the gal working if they were made that day and she said yes. We ordered a raspberry, an orange, a coffee bean and the popular mango. This was my 2nd time trying these and our hopes were high BUT the raspberry was just awful the filling was strange and it had just raspberry jam inside,I dint eat it. The mango was okay so we shared that. The coffee bean was just awful as well so we didn't finish that either. The orange was the best of the group but overall just a disappointing experience once again because these are not cheap. I'm starting to think I might just have to give up my journey to find these although there are some places in Vegas that look promising. I don't think Reno has any bakeries that make these. They look so beautiful but the taste is a let down.

There were endless selection of salt bread and different flavoured buns which all looked delicious. As we were browsing and deciding, the lady at the counter was kind enough to offer us a sample of the butter rice cake. The butter tteok tasted pretty good on the spot so we bought a pack of 5 back home along with a hot and spicy salt bread and corn soboro. The butter rice cakes were already cold and hard when we got home, the inside was dense and chewy in a bad way. I didn't want them to go to waste so I tried reheating them in the over for a few minutes. It was warm but the texture never recovered, everything just got more dense and hard. The hot and spicy salt bread looked like a winner, but when we bit into it, the bread was just crunchy and overly buttery without a lot of flavour. The inside did not have the soft pillowy texture you'd expect from salt bread. The filling was a budget hot dog and some corn mixed with mayo. We cut the bread in half and my boyfriend said his piece had way too much mayo and mine barely had any. I grabbed the corn soboro thinking it would be delicious since it was corn season but was the most disappointed by it. I reheated the bread again to get the cookie top to crisp up. The soboro top didn't have a lot of crunch or flavour, it was just a layer of sweetness with no texture. The corn cream filling was not good, the corn was dehydrated and had no flavour at all. It honestly tasted a bit like canned corn that's over baked, I ended up scooping it out because the bread was better without it. Maybe it's better to go earlier when the baked goods are fresh and eat it there instead of taking it home.

I would still give this restaurant chance, especially since their baguettes and pastries are delicious. Disappointing. Sadly not what it used to be. Bottega Louis WAS our favorite go to restaurant when we visit LA. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We ordered the Louis Salad with blue crab and Croque Madame. While the salad was as delicious as I remembered, the Croque Madame was completely undercooked and the bread was soggy. We returned the sandwich as asked them to grill it longer. It took so long to recook that we had to leave and they gave it to us in a togo box without even an apology. Even the bread that they serve with the meal has gone downhill. We ended up buying a baguette. At least the baguettes are still decent. But overall a disappointing lunch.
