A nice Diner located in a quiet south Durham strip mall. I recently went to Benetis for Mother's Day breakfast with my wife's family. We got there at 9am and were seated promptly and beat the big Mother's Day rush, which everywhere tends to be crowded in the area for Mother's Day. The waitress was very quick to get our drink orders, slightly a bit too quick to ask for food orders given the size of our party and most having just arrived. I got the steak and eggs with home fries and an English muffin. I split the blueberry pancakes with my wife since we both didn't want a full stack. For the price everything was a very hearty portion of food that made for solid leftovers too. Everything was cooked to specification. The food for the table came out relatively quick for a packed house on Mother's Day. It was a bit noisy at times but that couldn't be helped given how busy they were. A really solid breakfast spot for people looking for a casual diner atmosphere. read more

I don't think I've ever written a 1 star review for any establishment, and I'm sad to have to do it for Benetis, of all places. This used to be my go-to breakfast spot-- the food is decent and fairly well-priced. Plus it seems to be a family business, which I love to support. I was a regular and used to come most weekends and would bring any family in town here for breakfast. I will not be back. The last couple of times I've come to Benetis, I've noticed a difference in treatment from the wait staff (very curt manner, general lack of service/attention, and even some eye rolling). I didn't read too much into it, figuring things were just busy, and I tried again today. We waited to be sat, and wait staff didn't acknowledge us for a bit, which was fine (it was quite busy, I understand). There was one booth taken up by a staff member's toddler, and another staff member worked to clean it so that we could sit down. A waitress came over, stopped him, and actively told him not to seat us there. We waited for another table, even though the booth remained empty. My friend asked if we could sit at the booth, and the waitress told us "no you cannot." When we asked why she told us (rather rudely) "you always come here and stay too long." This was pretty confusing to me, because while we're regulars, we don't stay for hours on end, especially when the restaurant is busy. We will chat a bit if there are tables available, but again, we never stay for 3 hours on end or something equally extreme. Quite honestly, the service has been slow the last few times (which is ok, again they are busy and I understand), but that is why we have sat longer on recent visits. We work to tip well, always order the same things, and don't generally have a lot of demands. The statement is even more confusing because we've repeatedly watched single diners "take up" booths while we're there, including those who sit for quite a while after their meal is done to read, do tasks on iPads, etc. Regardless, the tone taken with us over the last couple of visits and especially today was extremely rude. As someone who has worked in food service, I can safely say that this is an unacceptable way to talk to or treat any customer. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. read more

I kind of want to gate keep because I like that I didn't have to fight the lines to get a table here but I know that would be cruel of me to do so. This place is fantastic! Family owned and operated. Service with top notch. The food, deliciously fresh. The space was clean. I don't have a single complaint. The California Benedict was perfectly cooked. They poached the egg just right so it drizzled down when I cut the yolk. Lots of places mess that up but not Benetis. They got that skill down. Because my friends classic eggs Benedict was also perfectly cooked. The home fries? Delicious. The fruit side? Fresh. The bacon? Crispy excellence. The sausage? Juicy and flavorful. Went there for the first time and was greeted by an employee carrying a baby in a sling. It was, in my opinion, just gross. Another toddler was also there running around. They went to the back area of the restaurant, not sure if they were in the food preparation area; if they were that is a health violation. Just the site of the employee carrying a baby was so off-putting I couldn't enjoy the food, which was acceptable but over-priced compared to similar restaurants serving the same type menu. When I was a teenager living in a small town, there was a local favorite called Wall's dairy. They made my favorite home fries of all time. Boiled perfectly then grilled. The only seasoning I remember was paprika. They had this perfect texture that I have not found in 40 years. Until this place this morning. The only difference is that these had skin on them which I don't mind at all. They were so damn good that everything else could've sucked and I still would've given them a four star. No onions, no peppers just perfect, red potato Bliss. I got the Benedict. It was good, but not very warm. And they were a little bland. I noticed that about the potatoes too even though they were so good. Then I realize that the cook appears to not have added a bunch of salt, which is a wonderful idea so we can add to our taste. I'm not supposed to have a lot of salt so I didn't add any. If the Benedict was hot I think they would've been better, even without salt. White staff was attentive and pleasant, and the place was very clean. If they were closer, I'd probably be a regular. read more

At this point the staff is like family, we've been coming for so many years, to the point of seeing their kids grow up! You'll always be greeted with a smile, great service, and the food is consistently delicious! Weekends are busy and sometimes there's a short wait for a table. Weekdays have a steady flow too. Friends rave to me about this place and they were correct. It is a diner type place, lots of tables pretty basic. The menu is very extensive with many food choices to include breakfast and lunch. So many good choices!! I went with a combo scramble and asked for my English muffin a little crispy. It came out perfect! The scramble was hot and so delicious. I didn't have to add anything to it! Including the side of hollindaise sauce! The potatoes had a lot of flavor too. The servings were big and the prices were very reasonable. Once our plates were served the server didn't return until she brought our tab. That was a bummer. But all in all the food is great and a must try! read more

Was looking for a breakfast place nearby and this shopping center has a few gems, so we wanted to try this. It's Greek food mostly on the menu, but they had breakfast tacos (and other breakfast items) so they won me over. Upon entering, they have lots of seating but the decor isn't too exciting. Kind of more like a diner feel... the couple we were seated next to were loud and obnoxious (speaker phone conversation while eating, why?) but can't let that ruin your food. My boyfriend and I ordered breakfast - him with a Spanish omelet and me with the veggie breakfast burrito. He enjoyed his food though never received his English muffin. (I say we don't need the carbs so it's okay, haha). My burrito was alright though pretty bland. The eggs were pretty runny on the inside which I'm not a fan of, but I still ate it. The home fries were decent, though I prefer mine crispier. The waitress was very nice and kept checking in on us, refilling our drinks. As we were leaving, we chatted with the woman at the register for a bit who said she was the one in charge - very nice lady who's passionate about the place and making sure people leave happy. New and improved! New Ownership! Now called Benetis Breakfast Grill. The business was closed for several months as they remodeled, reorganized, and really spiffed up the place. The new owners have worked here for years and know the business and have kept the menu basically the same. We have been back 3 times since the reopening and love the new and improved facilities. And the food? Outstanding, I didn't think it could get any better, but it is to die for. The Greek omelette, (our favorite) is full of flavor and healthy goodness. Lots of Spinach, tomatoes, feta, and olives. Home fries on the side are just plain delicious. Go to the website to see the updated pictures, and current menu...much better than those on Yelp. We had a delicious time at Benetis for a weekend brunch! My husband got the John Wayne Skillet (home fries, sautéed with a veggie medley and cheese, topped with two eggs). It came with a side of English muffins as well. I got the Dublin Benedict because I can't resist a good corned beef hash and haven't had it in an eggs benedict before. The coffee was nice and strong and you get free refills. Service was a bit slow but they were super busy, so it was understandable. I appreciated that we were able to sit outside and eat though for a second I thought they almost forgot about us. After they took our order the food came in a timely manner. I ordered French Toast I appreciated that they brought warm syrup! The food was really good but I found a small hair on my food. Things like this happen sometimes. When I told the waitress about it, she immediately asked me if I would like for them to remake my dish. I really appreciate that they owned up to this and offered to make it right. I don't expect restaurants to be perfect, but I do appreciate when they acknowledge if something isn't right. I also love the family atmosphere. This restaurant has a great reputation for their tasty breakfast meals and good customer service. They did not disappoint with my meal and experience. When my boyfriend and I first arrived it was pretty crowded, so we asked if we could sit at the only table they had outside. They said yes, and wiped down the outside table for us right away. They have a wide array of pancake and waffle flavors to choose from and our waitress was friendly and patient as I decided what to order.I ordered the banana nut pancakes with bacon and eggs on the side. The food came out after a 15-20 minute wait, and was delicious! My boyfriend ordered French Toast with eggs and bacon. He found a short hair on top of his butter ball on the French toast, but not anywhere else in the food. He told our waitress and she apologized and immediately asked if he wanted them to remake his meal. Since the hair was on top of the butter and he noticed it before eating, he declined. He put the butter in a napkin and ate his meal which he enjoyed. I also appreciate the familial atmosphere. There is a wall in the restaurant with images of family members of the employees and of local customers who have been going to the restaurant for years. I went for lunch and ordered the lamb kabob. The lamb was tough and chewy. The rice was good, the salad was decent. But, the thing that got to me was one of the servers was on speaker phone for probably 80% of the time we were there. She literally was cleaning tables and lifting a stack of plates with the phone in her hand. And she refilled someone's tea with the phone in her hand and someone talking on the other end. As a kicker, someone else got a call and must have felt comfortable enough to answer a call and put it on speaker after seeing her for so long on her phone. Nope, not going back. read more

Benetis is a gem, and just sitting in there you can tell how appreciated it is by so many people. It is a decently sized diner, perfect for a casual weekend breakfast with family or friends. The food is great: generously seasoned home fries, crispy bits all over the corned beef hash, and creamy, softly scrambled eggs with cheese mixed all throughout, just as requested! I love that they offer a great value with their many meals, but the senior menu is particularly perfect for bringing my Grandfather along! The servers are so friendly, and remember their customers, even those who are relatively new to the establishment, and the service is very quick. This nice place was almost a 5 star for me...There were 15 of us here for lunch. We had notified them ahead of time, so our tables were ready when we walked in the door. Very well prepared. This restaurant is breakfast and lunch only and is closed on Tuesday. I sure wish they were open at night...The menu is a good variety of breakfast foods, including frittatas, but they have salad, soup, sandwiches and Greek food too. Don't overlook the daily specials. All sounded good. Plenty to choose from and they have kids and senior menu's. I got the Greek Platter and added gyro meat to it. It had hummus, pita, tzatziki, spanikopita, a big salad, and grape leaves. The gyro meat was flavorful, the tzatziki tasted home made, the salad was fresh and the spanikopita was done well. The grape leaves were not the best and VERY cold. Might have been ok if they were at least room temp. Next time I will ask that they be heated. Others got a wide variety of food and they were still cooking breakfast items at 1:00. Everyone in our group left happy, some with to go boxes. The tea was good and our glasses were kept full. The service was kind, polite and professional, even with our large group. The place was clean and there is plenty of parking, as they are in a strip mall just off 55. The portions are huge, the staff is friendly. My family and I are regulars at this place to the point we are almost family. My family has been dining here ever since my children were toddlers and now they are High School and college students. Whether you dine here for breakfast, lunch or dinner you can't go wrong. The Gyro or Gyro platter is very good and one of my favorites. The breakfast menu is very nice with eggs served the way you like them, nicely seasoned home fries, fluffy waffles and you must have one of the breakfast scrambles. That's why my family and many others keep coming back for more. Since Benetis is so popular, trying to get a table for breakfast or brunch may be a challenge but well worth the wait. And they love children here!!! I think they still have pictures of our family on the wall and some of our kids' drawings from years ago. read more

The food was good! For lunch today, we both had frittatas. My Pa-ta-ta Frittata was loaded with well-cooked home fries, onions and smoked sausage. My friend liked his Nero Friatta and said the sausage was really spicy. He also liked his side of home fries. My side of fruit was a little different, but fine--a bowl of grapes with two chunks of pineapple. I would like to give Benetis a 4, but many of the ceiling tiles were stained, and the ceiling vents, which were over tables, were clogged with dust and dirt. The back of the restaurant was messy, too. A broom and dustpan were in full view, and boxes and miscellaneous items were scattered around the bar and hallway. The service was very friendly and efficient, though, and our water glasses were always full. read more
