Verde chicken enchiladas.
Lori P.

First experience here. It was amazing! We ordered mixta pupusa, carne en su jugo and we even added enchiladas pollo verde to go. Everything was hot and flavorful, no hot sauces needed. Restaurant is very clean and we had fast, friendly service!

Top is cheese pupusa and the bottom was one of their pupusas especiales (chorizo and cheese)

I got pupusas! Very cheap and delicious!! If you're looking for pupusas you can definitely count of them being BIG and full of flavor! I did DoorDash and picked it up myself. Very simple and easy process. Was greeted and treated kindly. Will be coming back soon!

Amazing!! One of the best pupusas in Bakersfield, they were delicious and affordable. The enchiladas and chilaquiles, were delicious. The room was a little bit stuffy, but other than that the service and the food was all fantastic!

We were looking for something a little different in downtown Bakersfield. We heard good things…read moreabout this place with the name gringos can't pronounce. ;) When I asked the server about the name, she said she thought it was a city in El Salvador. Later, because I needed to find out, I turned to Google and discovered that the name is reserved for the older generations of Salvadorans. I took this to mean it was more traditional Salvadoran food. It is a simple dining area with an open layout. Our server came out quickly, but because we needed more time with the menu, we asked her to come back. That took a while. The food was good and the portion sizes were ample. I had the Pachuga de crema. It comes with rice and beans. The beans had a different, thinner texture. I had some of the salsa to add a bit of flavor. Everyone at our table ordered something different. Everyone enjoyed their food. If you're looking for Mexican food, but want something a little different, try El Cuscatleco.

We wanted to stay downtown and were craving papusas. After weighing several options, we landed on…read moreSabor Latino. None of us had ever been, so we had no idea what to expect. This spot was tucked away, and I'm told the building was formerly an iHop? However the chairs looked like they belonged to an Asian restaurant because they had an image of ramen on them. There was plenty of seating and plenty of screens to watch games or telenovelas. When we stepped inside we were immediately greeted and asked to sit anywhere. (We were greeted in Spanish, and it seems like that was the primary language spoken there. So if you're not that fluent in Spanish, be prepared to either bring someone with you who is or brush up on the basics.) They got us menus and we were able to get what we came for -- PAPUSAS! They gave us complimentary chips and salsa while we waiting. And brought out two tubs of condiments for the papusas -- salsa de rojo y curtido (a pickled cabbage mixture). These tubs were huge, but were perfect to pass around the table. I ordered the papusa loca, which was truly massive and did not disappoint. There were peppers in it, but it was the right amount of spice. Really enjoyed it! Go give the a visit!

The food was so fresh and tasty, really affordable, and came with incredibly big portions of salad and sauce. We came late in the evening and were the only guests, but the service was quick and the music was very catchy, and we had a great time. This is a new favorite in town for sure!!

First time trying this spot just a bite after work with some good company…read more Walking in you're greeted with seat yourself sign lol. Plenty to choose from. Customer service is great but the waters were a letdown. I forgot what mine was called, but it did not look like the picture I had seen posted in yelp. The restroom was very clean and spacious. The music gave the establishment a great vibe. I ate a fish eye for the first time!!! Not a bad taste it's like nerve if you've ever had menudo. The fish was huge and juicy just full of flavor. The rice and especially the beans were very savory. Im not a big fan of popusas, it's just not my thing but these weren't bad and the cabbage topping was very well executed along with the sauce it comes with. So for the first time I have no complaints regarding the popusas toppings. The sauce they use for my land and sea plate was so delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly along with the shrimp. I would try this place again maybe ask for more chicharrón in my pupusa and less cheese, even though I did order my pupusa with easy cheese. The chips and salsa also tasted good. I only gave this place a 4 because of the aguas other than that food is great.
