Been searching for the best wet burrito in town. Hadn't been here in along time and was nearby for work so stopped in. Greeted and promptly seated. Order a chili colorado burrito ale carte and asked them to add some rice to the burrito. Food came out quickly and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Big chunks of beef and a tasty sauce. Perfect wet burrito. Chips were good but I dont care for chipotle peppers which were definitely in the salsa. Maybe next time ill see if they can give me some pico de gallo instead. Came for dinner and we chose a spot we never been to. Walking in, it was very dead. The music wasn't even playing. We assumed it was closing soon and we checked the hours and nope! Four hours left. Obviously we got seated immediately , the host and server were nice. We got the chili verde nachos for an appetizer. They forgot green onions, tomatoes, all the toppings for some reason and added a bunch of cheese. My man got the fajitas and I got the three item combination. Pretty good, regular Mexican restaurant. Nothing really unique though. The food tasted 10 times better as leftovers though. Even so when it was very dead, our server really took her time checking us out. I believe we waited around 15 minutes till she came back to us. Would we come back? Maybe not. But it was still good. read more

The whole fried fish was perfectly cooked. Crispy, crunchy, and a huge fish. 4 big tacos came out of that delish fish. My husband had the chicken fajitas. Yummy. Steaming hot and very flavorful. The rice and beans were tasty. We ordered a large guacamole, which came with flour chips. The red salsa is to die for. Ambiance is intimate. Quiet, soft music, which can change to upbeat. This place is FOREVER ensconced in my family. My nieces (who can't read yet ;,) call it "the bird" bc they look for the sign from the freeway! They also live pretty closely there to it as well. It's ALWAYS so clean, welcoming, like "coming home" every single time we go. I wish they would open a branch in San Luis Obispo (impossible to find what they offer here) and I have no problem saying I drive to Bakersfield every 4-6 weeks for facial & dermasweep and EVERY time, I try to close out my trip by taking my kiddos (adults) & neices to join me and then I know everyone is leaving happy & with full tummies! :D Sincerely, the 3 chicken enchiladas w beans & rice gang! chips & salsa are INCREDIBLE and so is the staff. THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! I was beyond pleased when I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday afternoon. Located on the corner off Real Rd and Wilson, you will find plenty of parking up front. The inside is super cute and has the hacendia design that transports you back to Mexico. Menu is extensive. A bit of everything which I loved. They have a bar and also serve cocktails and bottles beer. Service here was good here, food was out within 10-15 minutes of ordering. My server was kind and helpful. This time I decided to order a combination plate with a shredded crunchy beef taco and cheese enchilada and I loved my plate! The crunch taco was probably one of the best I have had in a long time. The enchilada was excellent. Overall my plate was a a 10/10. Overall, I already can't wait to come back! If your in the mood for great Mexican food, don't look any further. I hadn't been here in a long time and I was close by so decided to stop in for some albondigas soup. I was not impressed. 1st when the waitress was delivering food she was so confused as to which item she was serving was a cup, bowl or a Large. She gave my cup to my mom and was going to give me my mom's bowl. The soup itself was not good. It lacked so much flavor and even the habanero salsa didn't do anything to it. The meatballs were really small and looked almost black. Before this place was a great place to eat but this visit I didn't enjoy it and didn't even finish my food. I really want to give them another chance because I do like their food and maybe the day I went was just a bad day. It was really quiet and not a lot of chatter as we did go close to closing time. read more

Called to get information on happy hour. Male answered phone, I asked about their happy hour, he said- oh yeah happy hour.... Awkward silence... so I asked if it's from 3-7??? Said yes, oh sorry its from 3-7. Awkward silence... So I asked what drinks are on happy hour- he said margaritas, corona, and shots (well shots). Awkward silence, so I asked for pricing? He said $7 for margaritas and just hung up. I'm not sure why someone who works there (aka employee= definition) wouldn't just offer the information upfront instead of making me pull it out of them. I've been going to Don Pepe's for about two years and at this day we took my daughter and her husband for taco Tuesday cause they have three tacos and a margarita for $11.25 and I really like their fish tacos . Asked for a margarita and easy on the ice but it's was nothing but ice so I asked them if they can please not put so much ice in it and for some reason they get mad if you tell them be easy on the ice so I told her please on our next margaritas can you please be a little easier in the ice she said there's not much ice in there, but the glass was still over half full of ice. When she brought our drinks back there was only two cubes of ice in there and the margaritas were hot. She thought she was being funny but she was a very rude young lady then they wanna charge your extra for salsa and they also want to charge extra for the rudeness never going back there again. Also all the waitresses, but one are really rude. can't remember the one that took care of us that day, but she was the nicest one of all the waitresses there. read more

The chips and served warm and the salsa is fresh and perfectly blended with amazing flavor not to spicy. My favorites here are definitely the pork and cheese papusas and the cheese enchiladas. Came for the first time on Taco Tuesday  around 1pm, place is small but cozy and comfortable, they have a full bar and a couple of TV's for entertainment.  they where half packed when we walked in, greeted within a few minutes and seated, our waiter ( younger gentlemen with a pony tail) was very attentive and nice, Service for us was excellent the entire time. The Chips and salsa where good, salsa has a nice texture and was mild in flavor and chips are homemade and on the thinner side. I ordered the Tuesday Taco special. Tacos and a Margarita for 8$ and my mate the steak & enchilada with rice and beans combo with a gold Cadillac Margarita. I'm Not sure if i was supposed to get 2 tacos with rice and beans or just 3 tacos alone for there Taco Tuesday special( i see another reviewer got 2 tacos with rice and beans for her taco Tuesday special) But i got 3 chicken tacos with no rice and beans ( no biggie)  with a mango Margarita (flavored margaritas are not apart of there taco Tuesday special, but i was able to order 1 with my taco Tuesday special with an additional charge of .50 cents.) plus all day on Tuesday lime Margaritas are 3.50 and flavored are 4.00. NICE! Our food took around 20 mins to come out which is a sign of being made fresh upon order and it was, presentation was spot on. My tacos where great, a little skimpy on the chicken, but everything was freshly made. Chicken was seasoned nicely and tender, lettuce, onion, cilantro & avocado where all fresh, the outside tortilla was little crisped and the inside tortilla was soft and tender. My mates steak though was a little disappointment, in the pictures on yelp it shows a grilled steak with perfect grill marks and His was more pan fried looking, dull looking, it also lacked in flavor and season (i tried it myself),... my mate can cook a way better steak himself. But his enchilada was on point, the rice was fluffy and full of flavor and the beans where creamy and cheesy. All the margaritas we ordered where strong and good, especially the mango Margarita! It was blended so perfectly, a nice thick and creamy icy consistency. Perfect.  And to top it all off our bill for 2 meals and 3 margaritas was only $36.44, now that is what i call a special!  One of the better Taco Tuesday specials yet. read more

Ive been coming here with a few coworkers for either celebrations or farewell dinners and it's a great little hidden spot! The service is a hit or miss as last time we ordered in advanced and they had our food prepared but other times it's taken a while so it depends perhaps on the time of the day. You are given a bowl of chips and salsa while you wait for your meal. I ordered the seafood enchiladas and I thought they were delicious! My coworker ordered the chimichanga and she said it was plain. Overall good experience! read more
