Have been coming here for years as it's one my Salvadorian brother in law's favorite restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and the pupusas are delicious! Today the service was a bit slow. Not sure why as the restaurant was almost empty. It took quite a while to receive my Shrimp Cocktail. The appearance was appealing and generous, the flavor was good but it was almost lukewarm. The octopus was in large chunks and a bit tough. I was really in the mood for a cool refreshing meal. So a bit of disappointment from my expectation. I do like most of the food I have tried here, but I won't order this dish here again. Its one of those hole in the wall places that just have your jaw drop whole drooling. We got the pupusas lunch special, I normally get the queso ones, but they had so many more options then other places. The con todos are beyond delicious, my eyes were bigger than my stomach, I was only able to eat one. They also had specialty ones with asada and chicken shrimp. But those aren't part of the special. They do charge extra for more cabbage and salsa, but I get it. Definitely coming again to try the other pupusas and all their other menu items. Oh also the Pupusas con todo came out beyond hot and had me gobbling it down still lava hot. Sooooo mouth wateringly good. The server was beyond sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. I've eaten at the Los Cabos The Pupusa House on California, but this was my first visit to the Los Cabos The Pupusa House on Ming. This restaurant is much larger than the other one, with the addition of a bar, and it even has a large open area that could serve as a dance floor should one be so inclined. The restaurant was just about deserted at 6:00 pm on a Tuesday evening when Kate B and I visited it; there was only one woman seated at the bar and all the tables were empty. The walls are painted in bright orange and green, which might overstimulate anyone suffering from add, but I decided to regard the bright colors as "cheerful" We seated ourselves and a waitress brought us menus. There was a flatscreen television suspended behind the bar broadcasting Telemundo's Pasion Prohibida. What a way to get a little atmosphere going! I can't tell you how much fun we white girls had making up dialogue for the characters as the show went on. So, yeah, it took us a while to finally decide what we wanted, but the waitress was very patient with us each time she returned to check on us. I finally decided on the pollo en crema with rice and beans and Kate ordered a tostada (I can't remember the name) which had a shrimp ceviche topping. We also ordered two pupusas to share, one revueltas and one queso con loroco. For an appetizer we ordered the empanada de platano stuffed with milk cream and cinnamon which arrived after all our entrees, but was so sweet it doubled as a dessert. I ordered a champagne cola to drink; it's a non-alcoholic soda that tastes like a cross between a cream soda and an orange soda. I loved my pollo en crema which came with one large breast and one leg covered in a creamy white sauce and was accompanied by a lightly seasoned rice and a sooth dark concoction of beans and a small salad. The chicken was very tender and the sauce lovely. I'd definitely order this again. I enjoyed my half of each pupusa, though the queso con loroco one was a little bland compared the the revueltas. The empanada arrived looking for all the word like a cream stuffed dark brown crispy old fashioned donut. We ordered one to split, but I could make a great snack out of one of these on my own. I had a bite of Kate's shrimp and it was pretty good, too. We both left pretty well stuffed and with enough food packed into the to-go boxes to make another good sized lunch. They have two locations. (i think, well at least that i have been to) This one is the "non ghetto" according to my sister. It is nicer and way bigger than the other one. We came in for lunch/dinner for and noticed they had a lunch special from 11-3pm but we had just missed it. Not sure what is it because I forgot to ask because all I care for in this restaurant is the popusas! Anyways they also have happy hour from 3-7pm on some basic beers. (Bud light & Budweiser?) We sat down and one lady came to greet us and bring chips and salsa which I was really surprised because ***Not being stereotypical in a bad way, had never seen a Salvadorian based restraunt serve chips and salsa.*** BTW the chips were still warm and super tasty. The salsa was acceptable! Second waiter came and took our order, we got each a "revuelta popusa" = mixed which has cheese and pork. Highly recommend. We also got a plate of "chicharron con yuka" = pork and I think yuka is a type of vegy fried. For dessert I got an "empanada de platano con leche" little ball of banana fried with this type of special cream inside of it. You can have this as an entree where they serve it with beans but I would recommend getting it as a dessert. The service was awesome and pretty fast! Fortunately, she spoke english so there was no language barrier. Seems like the more seasoned customers ordered at the bar and the food was brought out to their table... shrug. For starters, they bring out fresh chips and some (watery) salsa. Nothing special, but nice to munch on. I ordered the con todo pupusa, which I thought was well done. I liked the slight char on the pupusa outside, and the black bean and cheese inside were good.. although I had trouble discerning the the taste of the pork. I very much enjoyed the slaw and sauce they bring on the side as well, being sure to include a little in each bite. I was overall happy with this and will probably come back to try the other ones. I also had their ceviche on a tostado, which I did not enjoy as much. Although the lime, tomatoes, cucumber, onions were all nice and fresh, I did not like the shrimp too much... I thought it was too warm(?) if that makes any sense [isn't it normally served kind of cold?]. The tostado tasted kind of stale IMO, not super crunchy and actually kind of soggy where the ceviche was laid on top. Would probably pass on this next time. I am by no means an expert, but overall, would say this was an average meal. Will most likely come back for more pupusas if I'm craving them, just because they're so darn easy to eat and because they're only 2.50 each (one was surprisingly filling to begin with).
