If your system allows a long time customer to pay for an item over 24hrs in advance, then be told that the customer is clear to come pick up the order "anytime"...only to have the customer drive all the way from Acworth...and present the completed order number to pick up the instrument...to then be informed that the instrument was actually sold the night before???? You need a better system....and no apology, no follow through, just a quick "sorry, it was sold last night" then the associate walked off??? Come on GC, I deserve better than that. read more

Made two purchases that came from this location. One was an online pickup for a used amp they had. Purchase went smooth, pickup was quick. Came into the store to buy a guitar that was on sale on their website, a "new" demo unit. The employee refused to match the online price even though that's the policy and I was physically holding the guitar I was wanting to buy. Made the order online for the online price and it got shipped to me from that store wasting packaging and gas. I know it was from that store based on tracking and based on a specific defect on the body. Would have given a better rating if it weren't for that experience. A fantastic selection of guitars and everything you need to get your music on.... Accept service! My sons want to learn to play the guitar. So we stopped in here to see what we needed and inquire about lessons. We wandered the store for a bit... they have a gigantic selection of guitars and all the accessories, but I have to say I knew very little about what it is we needed. We tried to get some help but at first could not find anyone free. We waited some more and the guy behind the counter was tied up with someone. Finally two guys came out of the back and one of them walked us through what we needed. He was quite knowledgeable as well as kind and patient with my boys. Once we had the equipment all figured out I wanted to know about lessons. There was a sign saying that they had them and to inquire. Our sales man said he really didn't know anything about the lessons and would have to get with his manager. The guy behind the counter. He left us to go and get with him. He came back and said the manager was busy and asked us to wait. We waited... and waited... and waited... Our sales man finally came back and said his manager was tied up and handed us a paper telling us about their lessons but it said nothing about cost or schedule. I asked and he suggested that I call in to the store on another day to get that information?!? The equipment we were looking to buy would have come to $1000 bucks... and all because we couldn't get a cost or schedule on lessons we walked out with nothing. I was ready to buy... but didn't want to do it with out a plan and knowing what all was involved in the lessons. So I said I would wait until I knew and we left. We left with the idea to check back another day but really I was unsure of their dedication to the lessons when I couldn't even get the simple cost for them. How hard could it be to get a price? Just visited N Point guitar center for last-minute strings for a gig tonight. Usually a great welcoming atmosphere. Started off that way today: the awesome older shaved-head guy who's usually here (maybe a manager) was friendly and nice as always when I came in. As I tried to select strings and picks, I became aware of somebody playing annoying speed-metal tapping exercises at a healthy volume. Some obnoxious kid, I thought. But when I glanced in that direction as I approached the counter... it was an employee! Dude, if there's no customers grab a feather duster or something, stop polluting everybody's ears! (Another customer had her fingers in her ears ). Then the guy who checked me out was so terse and grouchy that I couldn't hear when and how he wanted me to pay without asking him to repeat himself a few times. Zero stars. This place sold took a fully functional stingray hh in trade for a Lakland gz that was supposed to be functional. I had to go there 3 times and it wasn't fixed. Bought a DM3 mixer from GC, my first attempt at a digital mixer and was totally lost. Nathan at this location was so in tune with digital mixers he was able to walk me through it in a breeze. Wow! It's no secret that guitars are kind of on the decline. Fender and Gibson have been struggling immensely for years. Us old hats can only buy so many guitars. We need the younger generation to step up. Unfortunately, they aren't. The first big reason is probably a lack of new guitar heroes stepping up like us old folk had. The second big reason is the hilariously bad service you get at an alarmingly high amount of Guitar Centers. I've shopped at this Guitar Center quite a few times, and I kid you not, I have never been acknowledged by an employee. Most recently, two employees were caught up in a long chat and chose to ignore me rather than stopping their conversation to see if they can help me. I once saw an employee sat in front of the picks, very slowly doing inventory. This is fine, of course. It's part of the job. Did he acknowledge me and ask if there were any specific picks I was looking for? Did he at least acknowledge that a fellow human being was standing next to him? You know he didn't. You know another pleasant memory of this shop? One time, I called to ask if they repair guitar pedals. Instead of simply "sorry, we do not," I got weird technobabble. Hey, maybe it was a stupid question, but a simple "yes" or "no" would've sufficed. A *scoff* "it's [some technical term i don't remember]" was stupid and useless. I'm sick of crappy Guitar Center employees. Go to Town Center Music instead of this awful shop. read more

Went in after lunch today to check out a Les Paul. I saw maybe 2-3 associates working. Not one approached me or even offered to look my way. I walked up beside one guy to strike up a conversation and he ducked to the back like he left his curling iron on. I then went toward a guy maiming a Taylor with a fret dress, but he too ran away like his cold press coffee was running over. It is very disappointing to be ready to drop $2k at a store conveniently located, just to beg these petulant children to ignore me. No wonder GC started selling on Reverb, they have no sales talent or communication skills. Bunch of chumps. Just save people the trouble and close this joke of a vacuous box store nightmare. Update: So I get the response below, which is the same lame-O response that every one star review has attracted. With no responses. I just want to say yo front two things: it's not really the manager's fault, and also my partner was HEATED when we left. My partner had saved up money to get an electric guitar for both of us. He specifically wanted one that he saw online was in stock so we drove almost an hour out to acquire it. We walked in and the manager (I assume he is) was attentive but very busy. He seemed like he was doing everything himself. He asked someone to help us from around, but there were hardly any people around. I started wondering if it was because everyone was busy but nope! There was a few employees around but the one he beckoned to help us basically disappeared to help this older white guy who was just pissing around strumming random guitars. All the guy had to do was check to see if it was in stock and if not tell us so we could either look somewhere else or look there for something else. ALSO. I'm knew to guitar, so we were hoping the guy would also you know HELP us so I can at least get my guitar. But we just weren't important. Maybe because we were the only people wearing masks or maybe it's something like else. Do we not look like we can buy electric guitars? Or were we just too much of a bother? Or is there bias somewhere? Like this place has 1-2 stars. I see why. I only have it a 2 because I feel bad for the guy/perceived manager doing everything under the sun and was literally the only person helping. He was on the phone, checking stuff out, etc. He tried to offer to order the guitar there for us (though at this point an hour later wasted waiting), and my partner was trying to be polite and said no. Please train your employees better, please higher people who have respect. read more

Great experience today at Guitar Center! I went to try out a specific guitar that was not currently in stock. Tanner found one in the back that was getting repaired and let me try it out. That extra effort on his part inspired me to place an order with him for my desired guitar. As well he helped me get a keyboard for my sons upcoming birthday. I went to this location looking to purchase a studio monitor. I already knew the exact model I wanted because I purchased one from another location in Kennesaw a few weeks prior. They didn't have the model I was looking for on shelves so the guy who helped me checked their inventory and said they had a few more in the back and proceeded to go grab one for me. After what seemed like 20 minutes of waiting I asked another employee on the floor for help because I had assumed that the first employee had forgotten about me but just as I begin talking to the other employee he comes back with the studio monitor in hand but the box was a not in good condition and it was open as if someone had returned it. The employee told me that due to the fact that the box was open I would receive a discount but then proceeds to ask me how much the studio monitor costs... my discount was somewhere between $5-10. After telling me my total he asked for my phone number to add the transaction to my guitar center account but then proceeds to pickup the phone right next to the cash register and sat silently on the phone for a good 10 minutes. Just as I was about to ask if something was wrong he says "thank you" and hangs up the phone and tells me I can insert my card for payment. Finally finish the transaction and despite taking far longer than it should have I was just happy to take my new studio monitor home. But When I get home I begin unboxing the speaker and I knew something was wrong immediately. There were multiple scratches all of the first side of the speaker I saw as I took it out of the box but then I realize it's smaller than my other speaker (that's supposed to be identical). I then turn the speaker to the front and realize that the speaker that was in my box is not the correct speaker that is on the box (Same brand but different generation). So I call the store that I had just purchased the monitor from and the employee was very apologetic and told me that I could come in and swap it out for the correct one but it was nearing the time when the store closes and I was not going to make it back to that location so they told me that I could take it to my nearest guitar center for help (Kennesaw location). Only having about 5 minutes to make it there, I arrive just as they close but they still allowed me to come in. After explaining what happened at the other location one of the employees told me that the reason I got the incorrect speaker is because at some point, a customer purchased the monitor unboxed it, and then returned the box with an old monitor inside, essentially getting the new one for free. This only could have happened if the employees at the NorthPoint location are not checking returned items, which is unacceptable. The employees at the Kennesaw location helped me sort out the problem very quickly and technically they did so after their normal business hours so for that reason I will continue going to that location because that is what exceptional customer service looks like. But as for the Northpoint location, I do not intend to shop there again. read more

This location has always had horrible customer service and now it has gotten even worse. I accepted long ago that no employees would be available to assist me with finding items I came in to purchase, but now no one is even available at the registers to pay for items once I've found them on my own. On my last 2 visits, I've stood at empty registers for over 5 minutes, then wound up returning the items to the shelves and leaving. In both cases my purchases were well over $100. I'm sure that I'm not the only customer getting frustrated and walking out, but it is apparent from all of the negative reviews that this GC location operates under a new business model where customer service and turning a profit are discouraged. I came here to sell some used gear, possibly trade for a strat if the right one presented itself. I waited in line for 15 minutes before any of the three sales associates would even acknowledge me. All three were "shooting the breeze" with what seemed to be a repeat customer, who was not purchasing anything by the way. When I finally got my guitar up on the counter for them to appraise, two of the sales associates were going about their conversation (lots of profanity I might add), while the other was HITTING MY GUITAR WITH DRUMSTICKS. He was saying things like, "Man, it would be sweet if my band did things like this" while proceeding to pound away on a guitar they had NOT bought in yet. I have been a customer here for over 15 years but unfortunately they have just lost all my business and the business of any of my peers. I needed a vibrato mounted on my Jazzmaster. I spoke with Richard the guitar tech, who asked me to bring the guitar to him to confirm I had the right vibrato for the installation. I said I would be there in 30 minutes. He said that would be fine. I drove all the way to Alpharetta only to find Richard was out to lunch. None of the very dim GC employees could help. This is actually a typical Guitar Center experience. I always feel like I'm dealing with amateurs there. Thanks, Richard, for confirming for me again that GC is just not worth the hassle. Visited this location twice in one day , Tanner helped us both times. The first time on sales floor the item I wanted was not in stock in a box so he took the display and rang it up no discounts , he gave me wrong price because when he rang me up and said it's actually $100 more than what he told me umm ok not a small difference , I said ok . Then after I declined the extended warranty his demeanor got worse . Second trip back - I discovered I purchased wrong item so went to exchange it and again they didn't have what I wanted in stock in a box so Tanner made a huge assumption that I would purchase a similar item double the price by bringing the boxes item I didn't want down off the shelves - nope . He then proceeded to get the display one (again no discount) but gets better - he processed the transaction I declined warranty again and his demeanor got worse again he then concluded the transaction then just walked away - no thank you , no putting my purchased item in a bag he just left the item on the counter and walked away . The staff in the store are not friendly and try everything in their power to ignore you. Tanner stayed on the phone the entire time and I was there for over an hour. Funny thing is my wife who had gone a month earlier to grab me a cord said the described the same guy sitting on the phone the entire time. I left only buying a few cords and decided to make my big purchases on Amazon. Sad you try to support brick and mortar but they staff people who are miserable and don't like their job. My wife purchased an amplifier from the Alpharetta Guitar Center location a week ago in order for it to arrive on time for our anniversary. The shipment was on time. However, they sent the wrong amp (a much lesser value one) and apparently sent my amplifier to someone else. Upon calling to inform management of this, they scoffed at and tried to placate me. This is not the first time that Guitar Center's ineptitude has been an issue. They said they contacted a District Manager and now I have to wait for his answer. I have frequented Guitar Center locations for years and have "invested" WAY too much money in all sorts of instruments and music related whatchamacallits, but this location after only two visits is my fave. The store is in a great location by Northpoint Mall, so high five for location! They are highly corporatized, so you benefit with the ability to see tons of inventory, deal with friendly and knowledgeable staff, and not be subjected to crotchety weirdos that typically run mom and pop music stores. I decided not to give them 5 stars based solely on their tiny inventory of used guitars, so get over it. Yeah, I'll be back here a lot. read more

Needed strings but needed to check this store out too. Have no clue on the exact vintage, but this outpost seems very, very new. Not much in the way of bought-in used gear, but an attractive space for basic stuff. Big plus is the fact that strings and common guitar accessories are not locked up behind a check-out desk. Of course, it helps that these items are high margin, but still better than having to lumber behind a POS station to see if 10-52 string sets are an option with, say, nickel core. Nice lighting throughout the store. Not a cave. Otherwise the shop is very much dedicated to a three-tier guitar wall -- kinda light on other elements -- keys, pro audio, etc. Heavy pitch on the high end Gibsons, as is common. But it is worth checking out this store as they seem to have some quality folks on the floor. read more

A great location with VERY helpful, friendly staff. I've been to most of the other location music stores, and I've spent money at most of them as well, but I keep finding myself back at the Alpharetta GC because of the people. It helps that when you come back after a stint, and you recognize the same faces which should imply that they are somewhat experienced, and at the very-least... good at what they do. As with most of the other Guitar Centers, this one focuses on, guess what? GUITARS! and Gibson/Epiphone should be more precise. They have tons of colors of most popular guitars/basses, so when I arrived this last time, it was a surprise that what I wanted was NOT in stock. That being said, they handled the call to the manufacturer, and placed the order immediately, surpassing the ETA by almost a week. They are also very fluent in the tech of what they sell, so as not to "out-tech-talk" you, but to find what you really need, rather than force you into an amp or guitar you never really needed. The accessories are the usual guitar accoutrements, with a decent range of straps, picks, pedals, amps, and tchotchkies to satisfy most gear-nerds. All-in-all, I've become a regular at this location, along with freshening up my playing with some pointers from the instructors. They can continue to take my money as long as they keep feeding my addiction. read more

Hands down the worst service I've ever experienced from Guitar Center. The staff was so nasty and rude. I was treating like an inconvenience. The also had a guitar combo package with the sign sitting right on it, everything in the description matched what was in the box, it was a deal said it was $99.99, after taking the package and the sign up to the front desk to pay for it they then told me this is not the same guitar, was the same package however and told me they can only give me 10% off of $200. I was here to buy a family member his first guitar and I could tell he was very uncomfortable with the way they were treating us. I will not be returning to this guitar center and I recommend anybody looking for any type of instruments to find a different guitar center it'll be worth the drive to be able to avoid this rude staff who has no idea how to treat customers and lacks customer service. read more
