Horrible service. Place was understaffed had one salesman trying to help 5 people. Took me an hour to complete transaction. They forgot the discount they were supposed to give, and upon calling them was told i wouldnt receive that 10% off cuz the item was already on sale. Shouldve told me that before maybe? Customer service manager was absolutely worthless in resolving the issue. "Ill give you a deal next time you need gear". Yeah like I'm going there again. Get some proper staff here. read more

Yeah, I got a couple things to say. First of all, I'm not your "bro" or your "homie" or "dude" or whatever else you call your friends so why is it that I get hit with a barrage of "How you doin bro" and "Hows it going dude" 's as I walk through the store. I guess they are trying to be friendly, but I came in to spend some money. I would expect a little more professionalism. Place looks terrible. 12 year olds running around with guitars and drums etc. But the best part, is walking up to the counter where some spikey haired employee tells me he'll be just a minute and then goes back to the customer he was talking to and ignores me. I understand having customers... but I'm a customer too! I went in to purchase a guitar and accessories today. Upon entering the store immediately I notice the store was understaffed for the amount of customers. I waited roughly 15 minutes to have a question answered. I picked out my guitar and accessories and proceeded to pay. After waiting at the check stand with no one working behind it for some time, I decided to leave empty handed. I was under the impression that my business nor my time was of value. The employees I interacted with were great, management should be looked into. I just wanted to get myself a gift and I will purchase it elsewhere. read more

After posting a negative review of their piano lesson program in March 2020, I received an email from the owner requesting my contact information so that the store manager could reach out to me to attempt resolution. For guitar supplies, as the name suggests, they are a strong resource. For other items, it's hit and miss. We went to the store to purchase a keyboard stand. We wanted a good product, not the cheapest or even a deal. After speaking with two people one man confirmed they had no product in stock but the item we wanted would arrive Friday. He left it to us to figure out when we might be able to come in for the stand so I called Friday and, again, had to speak with two people to get info and learned their order actually came in Thursday and there was no stand. Only upon my asking more questions did I learn they were still expecting it. No offer to let me know when it arrived or advice on when to check back, etc. Clearly they don't care about the sale. I could have ordered the item online for delivery to their store (as we're trying to support brick and mortar stores) but why waste my time when they don't care. We're buying elsewhere. read more

So at this location at about 7:50 my friend and I walk in considering to buy a Pioneer controller (mixer) + speakers and all necessary wiring. We head over the to DJ section and read the details on all of the controllers.. literally two minutes in after we were analyzing some of the controllers the Hispanic guy working the counter yells out " HEY CAN YOU GUYS STOP PLAYING WITH THAT" .. my friend and I were pretty shocked to hear an employee at a guitar center saying that so under our breath we said " oh.. what.. okay let's just leave" .. I was dumbfounded to see that he didn't tell everyone else at the keyboard and guitar section to quit using the products.. My friend and I wanted to test out some of the products before purchasing them. We were prepared to spend $1,500+ their but that quick little remark kept us from going there. We didn't get the employees name nor did we speak to a manager because we were so surprised that this even happened.. but this occurred on Feb. 21st at around 8pm. I've always gravitated toward small music shops/guitar shops instead of places like Guitar Center, because I thought the service and relationships you develop at smaller places are much stronger. My experience at Guitar Center over the last 4 years has changed that perception. I go there a couple times a month for strings, straps, tuners, etc. and the staff is always friendly and hustling to assist. I recently ordered a build to order Taylor 12 string, and one of the Assistant Managers (Sean) facilitated the process and answered a lot of questions. (Jaime, the sales manager, is also very helpful and knowledgeable.) I have also purchased two other guitars from them because they had competitive prices. Finally, I just traded in a Santa Cruz DPW and they gave me a fair price for it (considering they need to make a profit on the sale). Guitar Center has lots of equipment for recording too (mics, preamps, cables, etc.) and I have found their staff to be very knowledgeable as to what will be compatible with the rest of your equipment. The only thing Guitar Center could do to earn another star in my rating is to start carrying more boutique guitars (Santa Cruz; McPherson; Goodall; Froggy Bottom, etc.). There is a sizable market for these fine instruments and lots of profit to be made. read more

I really like this location. Even though the service is not the fastest, they are very helpful. I took my guitar to get the frets recrowned and the job was OK, they felt a little rough. Maybe they still needed to polish it a little more. It does stay in tune better and also doesn't twang at the 12th fret like it used to which was the main issue. read more

My Fender Stratocaster was making a lot of noise. I took it to Guitar Center in Cerritos. The guitar tech Sean, took a look at it and worked on it for about an hour. His attention to detail was phenomenal. He fixed the noisy volume and tone controls and cleaned everything up nicely! I will recommend this guitar technician to everybody I know! read more

I used to love going to guitar center, but I see the Cerritos store losing their touch on customer service. They don't really know how to serve up Good Customer Service that will keep the customer coming back. I actually watched a black young lady in sound scold a lady customer because she interrupted her! The lady had already paid for her gear and was in a hurry and just asked if she could call someone to take the product out to the car! And she got scolded, I went back New Year's Eve and asked a question to the guitar tech, also spoke to a another young man behind counter and I will say their approach or vibe is flat, dead, like that "I really don't give a @&$ what you need". No smile, no vibe of I really want to help you out to get the most out of your GC visit. No effort to get the product sold through the store. No I want to help you and I want you to come back and see me for all your GC needs! I HOPE GC READS THEIR POSTS BECAUSE GC USED TO BE LIKE GOING TO THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH ! Your losing your touch. NOW GC is changing the way the Serve the public, it is now set up more like a store wheee you walk around and pick up your own needs, so this puts more distance between customer and GC! most guitar center places are intimidating to me, and i am a musician! maybe it is something about all the equipment laying around and my ability to probably play only 10 percent of it. however, a few years ago i needed to set up my recording studio and this was a good place to start. if you ask for help, and advice, you're definetely provided with plenty of it. i must have asked a gallilion (that's a billion plus one, for those that don't know) questions and each was answered to my satisfaction. the only drawback to any of these places in general is that they seem to be understaffed. the salesperson kept being interrupted by other customers, creating a situation where we'd have to touch upon different questions several times over. the selection is always good but i'd call first because sometimes, you just never know if they're either out of stock, or during inventory time, which practically means you're not going to get the item if they're out until after they are done with inventory. that could be weeks. it's happened to me, don't let it happen to you. it's annoying. one last note: if you're going to make a large purchase then open a credit card account with them. i did and it gave the opportunity to save even more on their payment options (zero interest for 6 or 12 months) plus i could return any item and be instantly given credit. read more

Sometimes a small road trip is worth it... Now I'll start off with a preface: I don't usually like to give poor ratings but when service is horrible, I can't lie and give decent reviews about it. Not once, but at least 3 times I walked into this location and was never acknowledged by any person working there. This visit was the topper. I walked around for a decent 5 minutes looking for a guitar case. There were at least 2 people by the cash wrap not helping anyone so I walked over to them to ask for help. The lady (should I even mention her name?!) shows me to the traveler bags and I choose the one on sale- why not. She shows me the bag and it's a bit dirty. I ask if there's another one that I can get that is clean (not the display bag - a clean one would have been nice) and she even says "we get stock of these all the time so this is still good" or something to that effect. Even though I was a bit insistent in asking if there was another one, she points to the regular priced one if I want a cleaner one. I say, well I'll get that (dirty) one I guess. As she walks away, another person on the floor says "Don't take the display one, grab one in the back..." (INTERNAL MONOLOGUE TO MYSELF AND IN CAPS TO EXPRESS MY DISDAIN FOR HER SHOTTY HELP) OH WAIT! YOU DO HAVE ANOTHER ONE BUT IT'S IN THE BACK! OH MY HOLY BLOODY HELL! YOU MEAN MY INSISTENCE TO ASK FOR A NEW, and let me emphasize, "CLEAN ONE", WAS IN FACT POSSIBLE?! OKAY! GLAD TO KNOW. ARE YOU NEW OR JUST LAZY?! I believe I was pleasant the whole time in asking, yet there was in no way, any DECENT service experienced while there. While I'm sure there are very competent and helpful people there, I wasn't lucky tonight. I know why making the road trip to the Fountain Valley one is SO worth it. The moment I walked in that one, someone at least acknowledged me and I ended up spending over $300 because they helped me from beginning to end. As one consumer, who has worked in retail, to another consumer, I can't stress enough how good service gets you far and can get you to spend money if the service person is helpful and courteous. As a musician, I like music stores that give plenty of insight in what they are selling. I think out of all the big guitar stores in Los Angeles, Guitar Center is the place to go. I've been to different Sam Ash music stores and I can say about them is that their customer service sucks. Guitar Center on the other hand has their employees cruising around the stores looking for people to help out, or checking if anyone is stealing anything. I have shopped here millions of times because of their low prices on strings and they give discounts for frequent shoppers. All their employees are fully equipped with the knowledge of what they are selling and everyone is down to earth. Forget Sam Ash, go to Guitar Center. read more

We love this Guitar Center. The sales dudes are so helpful! You can tell that they hire ppl who know their stuff. They can make recommendations base on their experience. We've bought our digital piano and an electric guitar here. They always cut you a good deal if you negotiate with them so don't be afraid to ask for discounts. Not much of sheet music selection, so I just go to Sam Ash for that or get it online. read more

I decided that i wanted to learn how to play the Ukulele and i wanted to get more information. I went to this guitar center and asked who to talk to and they refered me to someone. When i told him that i was told he could give me more information about the ukulele he told me i was "grossly misinformed". The only information he could give me was that is was "a small wooden instrument that has four strings" i was so disappointed with guitar center and i will not be back. If you do not have anyone who has a basic knowledge of an instrument then clearly you should not carry it. I went to Sam Ash instead and was given a plethora of information about the differences in ukuleles and the best ones to start with as a beginner. read more

Horrible company to do business with. I ordered online and they shipped one item other went into processing loop. They kept trying to get me to contact the local stores they sourced from to figure it out myself. The other item they never notified me of shipment and the UPS driver did not deliver to my apartments secure location, left note as other. Again I call them to open claim and they don't want to help, I force the issue and they add an alert where someone might get back to me in 10 days! read more

Very disappointed. I called early in the morning and asked for a request, which in fairness, is not a typical thing the store offers. The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and accommodating. He ensured me the request would be fulfilled because I was coming from out of town. When I arrived, I explained what I discussed on the phone with the sales person and the person at the counter looked at me like I was crazy. He left came back and told me "no said they spoke to you. We can't help you". I asked for the managers name, and he reluctantly said "Randy", condescendingly. The people on the sales floor are what keep customers out of the "Big Box" music stores. This is why you continue to lose out to online retailers. The customer service I received was inadequate and slightly disrespectful. I hope you guys manage your employees better and how to treat customers. I'll never go to this location again. read more

I got a pick-up for my acoustic guitar for a reasonable price, was able to test the quality of it in the back room with an amp and was totally happy with the overall experience. The prices are just through the roof. They mark every tag like you are saving off list price, but the prices are still astronomical. Go on eBay! I got a new mixer, CD turntable, and light for $300 off eBay. Guitar Center wanted close to $1000 for the exact same equipment!!! read more

Not a big fan of this place. We needed 100 guitar picks for a school project, and when we went in, the associates were too busy talking to each other, looking cool to pay attention to us. After waiting at the counter for 15 minutes, we were told it would be about $60.00 for around 90 guitar picks. My boyfriend, who is actually a musician was shocked. He knew they were overpriced, especially because he purchases them all the time! At the end of it all, we went to SAM ASH, purchased 60 picks for around $10, and they donated the rest since it was for school project (Kindergarten). read more

As a new guitar player I decided I need a small practice amp for my acoustic. Garon showed me the different choices and I ended up going with an Acoustic G10 Series amp and I am extremely happy with it. A shout out to Garon for answering questions from an obvious newb. This guitar center has all of the departments that you want, however there is an obvious emphasis on guitars since 60% of the store is dedicated to guitars only. For a bass guy like me, this place is not helpful. The bass department is small and is just cluttered with a lot of overpriced used gear. Whenever I interact with a salesperson I always ask them "Are you a bass player?" and the response is always either "No." or "I can be". I want to ask a bassist about bass gear, not a guitar player. Yes, I know they're similar, but I wouldn't expect a guitar player to know about low-frequency resonance just like a guitar player wouldn't expect a bass player to know about sweep picking. Anyway, the drum department is pretty small and limited. My drummer always prefers to shop online at Musicians Friend for drum gear and to go to guitar center to physically see the product before he buys it (if they have it). There is a large keyboard department, a large selection of stage monitors, and very limited lighting and DJ equipment. The microphone selection is decent. In regards to accessories, they have about 50 different guitar strap designs, tons of songbooks/instructional books (again, catered to mainly guitar players). String selection is good (DR rules) and they stock many popular effects pedal models. Overall, there is a pretty wide selection here if you're not a bass player or drummer but it can be a little overpriced. With so many manufacturers these days cutting costs by using synthetic wood to make guitars, the quality isn't what it used to be but the prices can still be steep and then add the Guitar Center markup on and you get a weeping wallet. A couple of months ago they got cited by the county Agriculture/Weights and Measures Department for overcharging customers. If you don't believe me that their gear is overpriced, just look at how much dust is accumulated on some of it. Musician's Friend is better! read more

I usually buy my stuff online but today I thought I'd give support to one of the local stores. I figured it's the right thing to do so I drove here with the intention of buying the product. I knew exactly what I wanted and they had it. Boy was that a waste of time. They had the product but the sales people sucked. After standing around waiting for someone to open the glass case I finally had the product on my hand and was ready to give them my credit card but instead the whole experience made me so sick that I placed the product back on top of the glass case and walked out. Did these guys expect me to beg and plead with them just for the right to buy their product. The sale people were completely aloof and indifferent to customers that are standing in front of them. I think I'll just stick with B&H. How sad is it that an online store experience is more pleasant than a face to face brick and mortar one? read more

its always a good time at guitar center reason 1. music is fun, and kids friendly and elderly friendly. they let me play drums freely every time we go and play our instruments and i dont feel the hatred or unwantedness from the workers currently working right now. previous to that it was whatever. now that a female is working at the drum section,(which has wide variety of selections) i had nose bleed for the last 5 days. my friend had purchased over a grand worth of equipment and he is happy (i think) only complaint i heard of was of the "internet" which really has nothing to do with the store. overall i like the store, very well organized from my personal experience i cant complain and hopefully this doesn't come off biased, or ass kissing. parking is convenient oh and reason 2 is somewhere in there. sincerely, dyfancy read more

NO Stars! Not even one! Called this store to confirm availability and condition of a used electric guitar seen on the GC website at this store and being in "excellent" condition. Salesman on phone confirmed "Yes" Excellent Condition. I went to see the guitar. The guitar had a break in a part at the Floyd Rose bridge, but it was still playable, but Not In "Excellent" condition due to this broken part. I made an offer to buy this guitar that was $100 less than asking price and I told the salesman that I would fix it myself. I thought this was a fair offer for my time to find the replacement part, disassemble the bridge from the guitar, repair it, and reassemble. The Store Manager said "No". I then offered to buy the guitar at Full Asking Price, but since it was broken and Not in "Excellent" condition as advertised and as verbally stated on the phone, I asked the Store Manager if his guitar tech would repair the bridge - "No". I went out of my way to go to this GC, with intentions to buy this guitar, because I was told it was in excellent condition. When I got there, and learned it was Not in excellent condition, I Still Offered to buy the guitar with 2 reasonable options, Both were rejected by the Store Manager. He just smiled and made no attempt at all to do anything else - not even offer to try and find the guitar at another store. Hey Store Manager, your Customer Service Sucks! I can't speak about the other issues people have had at this location, but my experience was very positive. I called because I needed my guitar fixed and the problem wasn't over the phone but when I showed up. I brought my guitar to the guitar tech, Fabian, and without even touching my guitar he gave me a price of $120. I was bothered that he didn't inspect my guitar before giving me a price but I wanted my guitar fixed. He told me it'll just take a week. After about two weeks he calls me and says my guitar cant be fixed. I go to pick it up and when I tell him which guitar is my guitar he says "oh the busted one". I left with my guitar still in the same condition I left it in. At least I was able to fix my guitar in my own home. read more

I've been to lots of GCs nearby like Hollywood, Pasadena, Orange; staff has always been super helpful AND not pushy, all you need to do is ask! Went to SamAsh once, staff gave me lots of attention yet at the same time so very pushy, I got cornered to buy all the time so I ran. Finally came here for a Roland RD-2000 and Brenna? (the girl with cool pink hair) was super super AWESOME and helpful. Not sure why lots of reviews with no staff assistance. This girl approached me and asked if I needed help and she actually did help me from A-Z. I was a bit hesitant when I saw how giant and heavy the piano was in a huge box. She assured me that she'd help me move it into my car. Actually, she did everything all by herself so quickly I didn't get a chance to help at all; she carried a giant heavy piano to my fully stuffed car, helped me rearrange my messy car and finally made it fit into my car perfectly. Super professional, friendly, efficient, quick and smooth; this girl rocks!! read more
