I went to go guitar center to get an instrument for a graduate, and the associate awkwardly assisted me in finding the product that I had already found online; as though I wasn't worth his time. And then he proceeded to tell me how fortunate I am that they had such a great Waranty Service and after his words, he stated that it was going to cost me if I wanted the warranty. When I declined , he then automatically declined giving me what he expressed as courtesy free lessons because I told him it was a gift. How come customer service has to be so shady now? Just ask me if a want a warranty and don't inform me of a service I don't qualify for. read more

This review is for the Guitar center in Cypress right next to the Target. The one with planet fitness and Domino's in the same strip mall. This Guitar center is ill!! They have a good selection of electric and acoustic guitars and other instruments as well. It's the best guitar center in the area because when you go in there the air conditioner is on. I have been to this store several times and the service is always horrible. I went there on Black Friday and all the store employees were dressed in pajamas, not a good look. I went into the acoustic guitar room and there was two female employees playing with guitars. When I asked for help with a amp they was on display they made no attempt to help me, one female employee was teaching the other female employee how to play guitar. Guitar Centers in general are run by lazy rude people, that's why I make all my large purchases from Sweetwater.com This younger WOKE generation is a disgrace. Overall - not a bad place to visit for anything your musical hearts desire - they have a pretty good selection of equipment. Problem is - staff. Not many care to help, nor do they "know" much. At least not the employees we encountered on a recent visit for a new drum set (practice kit) for one of my 7 year olds. I went in with the intent to purchase all three of my kids new instruments (digital piano, electric guitar, & of course the drums) but ended up leaving empty-handed and frustrated. After waiting for someone to assist for over half an hour, then said employee proceeding to dismiss us for someone else, only to be left with a bitter taste from an uneducated employee with a chip on her shoulder... I'd had enough. Out the door we went! Ironically enough - we still purchased the equipment - just elsewhere. You'd think the staff would WANT to work given the current state of our climate... if not, there are plenty of out-of-work folks who I'm sure would love to take that spot on the payroll... read more

I've been a regular at this location for years, mostly because of the tech. Kenny is truly a master at his craft. Most of the guitars I play are high end and not really available at the store, but I'm in there all the time having Kenny work on my stuff. Minor issues, nuts and saddles, pickups/wiring or even amp work. I end up buying other things in there that I need since I'm there. Came in today, sold my DDJ SB2 and TrktorX1 the guy on the counter helped me checked the gears. Two more customers came in and was buying a bigger gadget. My transaction was put on hold because I guess they have to prioritize the customer who just came in after me, after all it was a sale. Price that was offered to me was ok. I'm new to guitar so I always get excited/nervous when doing things surrounding music. Placed an order through the app (2 sets of strings) for curb side pickup. Never got an email saying my order was ready so I decided to go there myself. This was my first time at this location so I wasn't sure what to expect. The tall girl with curly hair was very rude to me. Luckily I was helped by a smaller fella (around 5'8 short wavy hair) who made my experience somewhat better due to his kindness. He gathered my items promptly and helped me find a basic chord progression pamphlet. Definitely had a better experience at the heights location. In conclusion don't have high expectations. read more

I am all for having safety protocols for Covid, but this guitar center has taken it way too far. Every store in the country is open and you can walk in and browse as much as you need. We walked in and the guy made us stand on the red line. There was one couple in the store that was looking at keyboards, and the rest of the store was empty. We were told that we needed to wait for someone to be available to walk us around. We stood there for a few minutes waiting and nothing. I understand that things have to be a little more strict because of covid and we need to take precautions, but come on. This is just ridiculous. Bought a guitar online and it was supposed to be shipped to my local Guitar Center. I was concerned about the state of the guitar I'll be getting because the first guitar I bought from Guitar Center (in CA) exactly 10 years ago was defective and had to be replaced. Ronnie emailed me to let me know they only had an open box item to give me from the store and assured me that it was in excellent quality. He gave me other options as well if I wanted an unopened one instead. Ronnie was very helpful and friendly with the purchase. Went in today with the intention of purchasing a new high-end acoustic guitar. Unfortunately, all of the decent guitars were so high on the wall that you couldn't even see the model numbers or prices, let alone actually touch or play them, and there was no one staffing the area. After 20 minutes I finally turned around and walked out of the store without a single employee having made eye contact or offering any help. Oh, I saw a few employees lounging around, but they would rather stare at their phones than sell guitars. If you want a crappy $200 instrument then maybe this is your spot. If you want a real instrument, customer service, or knowledgable help then you should look elsewhere. I know I will. read more

Guitar Center used to be my go to years back. The last 4-5 visits has changed that. You are better to know what you want, get it, and leave. This time when I checked out the guy behind the counter might have done just as much not to speak. When I could not hear him he wouldn't repeat himself. For me that's not a big deal as I wear hearing aids due to deafness from COVID. BUT, my wife could not hear him either. He seemed put off that I wasn't buying "big ticket" gear this time and was helping other floor staff who were rude enough to interrupt the transaction. Then when I was finally done paying he didn't even give me a bag for my stuff. Just handed it to me and walked away. I have spent a ton of $$$ on gear in GC over the years but NEVER AGAIN!!!! Might look into doing some customer service training with floor staff as they have absolutely no idea what that is. I guess it's a sign of the times....GOOD BYE GC read more

Just purchased a QSC GX5 power amplifier from Mary (store manager), and Akeyla (sorry if I misspelled). The amp rocks! I have been DJing for several years and Mary explained a lot of technical stuff regarding which amp to buy for my speakers. I actually had a more expensive product in mind, but after her explanation I went with the GX5. That says a lot for her character and integrity. Some folks would have simply sold me the more expensive amp just to make a profit. She helped educate me on the correct product which saved me money AND potentially saved my speakers if I bought the wrong amp. Way to go Mary and Akeyla and God bless! read more
