This place Rocks, no pun intended. Clean place and helpful staff. I walked in with my son and was immediately greeted by a person fixing/tuning a guitar. This location is at the Block. My son needed a clarinet reed, the gentleman helped us find what we needed. A couple of days later my son says he made a mistake on the type of reed and that's when Brett stepped up to the plate and resolved out issue. I hope this gets the attention of executives/ administrators. Today, I went into guitar center to purchase a guitar cable. The value is TBD but the transaction went smoothly. However, when I started to play the guitar through an amp, I was told by the tall guy with long blonde hair to turn it down. I respectfully complied. The same individual approach me a 2nd time and told me to move to the other side so as to not impede/interrupt his phone calls. I respectfully complied again but this time the guy patted my back in an invasive manner as he thanked me. This did not sit well with me as it violated my personal space/physical boundaries. He could have easily told me to move without touching me/invading my physical space. When I confronted him, I disclosed his non-consensual/invasive touching is considered battery, which is defined in CA law as "any intentional and unlawful physical touch on another person." He dismissed my complaints and stated "that this was not considered battery and walked away from me." An apology or accountability would have gone a long way. Yet, this individual justified his actions while disregarding my issue. This is completely unacceptable and unethical behavior from this employee. Guitar center employees need to remember that customers ought to be treated with the same respect they expect for themselves. I hope it garners the attention of any executives/administrators at Guitar Center. read more

There's no one working? Why have the store open when you cannot get any help. Theres so many people in here that need help, all the guitars are locked up and there's no one in electronics either. Incredibly disappointed with this guitar center. I'd save your time and money and go somewhere else. I just picked up my guitar that I dropped off over a week ago for a gig I am playing tonight and NO WORK was done to it. Spent my hour long lunch break driving to and from and could not have been more disappointed. I'll be sending an email to the corporate offices. Most of the time, folks here carry a 5-star top notch customer service whenever I show up in person. Today, I decided to call in and ask about delivery, and was replied in a rude unprofessional manner by some douchebag. If there's any phone audits, whoever picked up and spoke with me should definitely be fired. This review goes out to the Repair Department. I brought my Epiphone les Paul in for some wiring problems. The Lead Technician, Sergio, was the guy who received my guitar. After plugging into one of the stores Amps and testing it out, he gave me his guess on what was causing the problem. I picked it up a few days later and now it plays as good as new. Sergio is really passionate about guitars and his work. He understood the sentimental value of my 12 year, 100-dollar guitar. He not only gave me options on what kind of repairs he could do, but was happy to recommend good upgrades when I asked. I'll definitely be bringing him any future guitars in for tune-ups or repairs. I come to this store because it's convenient to where I work. But I have to say that this store is the worst ran store that I've been to. If you give the sales person any type of challenge they say "Sorry we can't help you." I went in today to buy a pair of Studio Monitors. I came prepare to lay down my money. When I asked to listen to a couple of the monitors they asked me if I had headphone output on my phone. I said no. I have a new iPhone. The sales person said well we can't do it unless I had the right output. I communicated my dismay and he said I should be mad at Apple. What the Freak!!! He just said "Sorry!" Like a snot nosed spoiled little teenager. I talked to one of the managers and he said the same thing. It shouldn't be up to me to provide a good experience in your store. Wow Haz was so helpful! I had such a great experience here. I came to buy a new drum set for myself( p.s I got such a killer deal), the set was such in a great condition and good taken care of. Even though it was closing hours, I didn't feel pressured or rushed to leave. Haz was so patience with me and also helped when I choosing a new top hi hat cymbal, I swear the amount of times I went back in fourth between two options, Haz was so chill and didn't mind. I was looking for a guitar for my sons Birthday and I got a guitar off the shelve thinking i would get a new guitar after paying full price. And all I got was a guitar that was used and was covered in smudges. The strings were rusty and when I asked if I could have a new guitar after paying full price they gave me a discomforting weird look. And they wanted me to pay extra for cleaning and new strings. Will not buy from them again and I advise anyone in the future to buy somewhere else for your child or friend. (etc) what you see is what you get even if it's awful. read more

Came here right after NAMM ended. Was looking to make a 1300 dollar purchase in the drum department. When I get there, no employee was there. I asked for help and a young manager came by and asked what I needed in a blunt manner. I asked him if I could get some information on a floor set and if I could test it out. He replied with "we don't allow people to play the floor models" and I replied with "Even if I'm going to purchase it?" he replied "I'll give you 2 minutes on it" getting annoyed since I felt like such a burden I got up and asked him for his name. (I forgot) and then replied "it's ....., I'm not going to get in trouble if you are going to complain to corporate" and the funny thing is... he was right, because I called corporate and they did absolutely nothing. They took down information but no one ever got back to me. It's been around 6 months. Nice way to drop the ball district manager and not follow up on complaints. I go back to the store day after Christmas So to pickup my keyboard. Guitar Center worker in says I have to wait for an email that says it ready to pickup. I have the paid receipt in my hand, there are 8 of the same keyboard I bought just sitting on the sales floor right in front of me. Yet I am unable to walk out the door with the product that I already paid for. Ok so here's my opinion of guitar center. Your company "guitar center" is COMPLETE SHIT All THE WAY TO THE CORE You guys couldn't start a lawn mower, much less help a customer. Your too busy trying to find a way to inconvenience your customer. You need to revamp your entire customer service policy cause you have no idea what customer service is. My sister and I Went yesterday (8/23) hoping to return 2 piano music books and one of the staff told us that it can't be returned bcoz of copyright thing which we are not aware of since the return policy was only written in their website. One of the Staff told told us to wait for his mgr and maybe he can just issue a store credit. I waited for about 10 mins while my sister looked for another replacement piano book item/s and when his mgr showed up told him that my sister wants to return those books coz it was hard for her to understand and at the same time the items cost more than the ones listed in amazon. He is final about the return policy. I told him i waited for him for more than 10 mins coz the previous staff already told us that he will be the one doing the store credit thing. And its was a "NO" but i asked again and again that maybe he can just do price match instead if they have a low price guarantee but he said "NO" again and even stated that they only match the price on the day of the sale and NOT after you had bought it. We Went out of the store pissed off since we wasted about 30 mins inside only to feel being discriminated. So i called the cerritos store where we originally bought the books and asked the lady staff who picked up the phone if they do price match, and she said they do within 45 days any identical item.. i came back to the "mgr" who is not acting like one and told him about what the cerritos staff told me. He did not apologize or anything, he started browsing on amazon site on the computer and even ask another staff to help him do the difference. Higher management should give this guy proper briefing/training on good customer service. You will lose customers with that kind of treatment/discrimination. read more

It pains me to write a negative review about this location but people should know what to expect. I've shopped here for 10 years and up until the last two years I've had excellent experiences. Built my first pedal board from pedals at this location! Recently I've called in to purchase items only to arrive and the clerk make mistakes that the item wasn't in stock. Our time is valuable and my time was wasted cause by oversight. The guitar tech here worked on my guitar (Gretsch semi-hollow) that had an issue cutting out. Picked the guitar up with good turn around time, but the issue wasn't fixed. Took it back and the tech plugged in and said, it works fine, I had to tell him to move the cable for him to know it wasn't working. That alone was sign enough for me that he isn't the guitar tech to be trusted. He worked on the guitar and this time I got no call back that the guitar was ready. I had to call into the store and ask. I was told it was fixed. Plugged in and practiced for an hour and the same issue! I took it to cerritos and the guitar tech immediately knew it was a faulty input jack. Replaced and fixed completely with great customer service. I stopped going to this Brea store and don't mind the drive to cerritos. read more

This is nothing against my instructor. My instructor is awesome, I'm terribly disappointed with the place itself. I came in today for my lesson and come to find out someone from guitar center studios cancelled my remaining lessons and mysteriously the time I normally have with my instructor had been taken by a new client. So now I'm SOL and to rearrange my schedule by having to come in at another time. Clearly this is an error from guitar center and they could not at least tried to make it better by offering compensation for the inconvenience. Needless to say, I terminated my contract with them and I guess I'm just going to have to finish the rest of my lessons at the convenience of guitar center. read more

Being the only store with a studio anywhere nearby, this is an amazing program. The instructors are true experts, there is also a fantastic artist development program. This is not regular lessons, it's so much more, with open classes, recording time, and performance events, it would be hard to ask for more. Starting at the age of 14 I knew nothing of music till now with the help of a great instructor named Richie Aquino. One of the best and helpful music instructors out of all in my opinion. Taking lessons from YouTube, I did not have a great experience and it wasn't at my pace. From the instructors of Guitar World I have achieved great progress. He allowed me to ask a lot of questions and gave his professional opinions. I was returning a cymbal previously purchased at another location. Some other stores are less accommodating. Jarett G. and the crew at this location were incredibly helpful. They really went that extra mile and I can't tell you how much that meant to me! I was in last night with my boyfriend, we arrived less than thirty minutes before closing to pick up one specific guitar model (and browse a few more). Everyone was great about answering all of our questions and were very knowledgeable especially about how items compared to similar and older versions. We had selected our two must haves and were checking out when an issue came up with the card company. While on the phone to resolve the problem (at this point it was well past closing) the team members reassured us they didn't mind and patiently waited for the issue to be fix. What they didn't know until later was that we had traveled to this store specifically for their great selection so my boyfriend could pick out his birthday gifts.
