This is definitely a musicians heaven. My 6 yr old son loves drums and ever since I've taken him to the Guitar Center location in Glendale, he always begs me to take him inside so he can drum away and get his groove on. This was a great find at this location because it has a studio that's open 7 days a week. And the staff will even offer drum lessons for my son as early as now. Score! I've lived in the area for approx. 4 years now and have been coming here since I've moved. I can't understand the reason there is so much turn over? There is constantly new employees, I understand this is a commission based job, but there needs to be some sort of consistency on customer care. I've called and asked a simple inventory question, the location of another store, product details and it seems it always is a struggle to get sufficient answers. There is typically low inventory and minimal selection as compared to other stores. I don't think a lot of this has to do with the employees, but more so the values of the company. I hope guitar center understands that the music store is increasingly becoming unattractive and online retailers are much more easier and cheaper to deal with. I hope to see changes in the near future. read more

Came into the store to get help troubleshooting an issue I've been having with my Roland keyboard. After I explained to them what I have, the issue I'm having, etc., I was told I have everything I need and that if I needed help troubleshooting it to call them. Sure enough I call and I get "Hey, I'm pretty busy right now. Lot of customers in the store." and was told if I came in, they could show me some products that could fix the issue. I WAS IN THE STORE EARLIER THAT DAY! WHY NOT TELL ME THAT THEN!? I've spent thousands of dollars at Guitar Center and to have this kind of treatment when I dearly need help using things I've bought from them... what more can I say? read more

I bought a D15M martin acoustic guitar here a couple weeks ago, and while I love the instrument (martin makes great guitars) I was not entirely pleased with the service at this venue. Here's why: 1.) I didn't notice this at the time of purchase but when I got home I realized that 4 out of the 6 bridge pins in my brand new guitar were cracked (yes this is a small issue that can be cheaply fixed but when you buy a brand new guitar you expect it to be in mint condition, especially one at this price point). 2.) They claim to price match, but when I found a brand new guitar of the exact same make and model on the internet for a full $150 cheaper than their list price they refused to drop their price by more than $50 and acted like I was lucky they were even keeping their word to that extent. 3.) I was mislead into spending another 30+ on a fancy humidifier for my nice new guitar so that it would stay in great condition...then I get home and do some research to find that guitars should be kept around %45 relative humidity. Google humidity levels for orange county: they never drop below %50, even during the driest months and the average is in the high 60's. So now I am over humidifying my guitar. Yes this was ignorant on my part but really you shouldn't be working at a guitar shop if you are going to be giving out bad advice. 4.) The last complaint I have is just that I felt in general like I was bothering the staff there by asking questions about guitars and (falsely?) assuming they were knowledgeable enough to have the answers. All in all I guess it's what you would expect from a chain, I am new to the hobby and was looking for a place that values the customers a little more, guess I'll go to a local music store from now on. read more

My sister-in-law (expert player) and I (beginner) needed wide-ranging advice as we set about buying two new acoustic guitars. Over a couple of days, we likely spent four hours exploring every guitar that was even remotely of interest. Stu was with us the whole time. He's a good listener, quite knowledgable, and helped us to focus our search without displaying bias toward a particular guitar. Finally, he coordinated with a different store when the one we selected was out of stock (except a damaged display model which he wouldn't sell us), and patiently accepted one in return the next day when one of us decided we wanted a different model. We had other complications in our transaction too, but Stu took it all in stride and made it easy for us to do business with Guitar Center. All this great service, and pricing that matched or beat the Internet. A good experience. read more

OMG Thankyou Dan, Jeff, and Daniel for your amazing prompt and welcoming service. You guys rock! My boyfriend Bobby does pretty much everything when it comes to hip hop recording from making beats to recording songs piano keyboard so needless to say along with moving a lot we have been to many different guitar centers across south OC. This was the first time we have had anytype of friendly knowledgeable service. And not just from one person but all 3 people we had the pleasure to meet! We were promply greeted as we entered the keyboard area by Jeff. Bobby told him what he was looking for and Jeff informed us he would go get Dan as this was his dept and he would be able to assist us better. Now normaly if it was the other stores we had been to many times we would of just been ignord or got a "i dont know cant help you" answer. But not here. Dan was super amazing and we required quite a bit of his time as we had many questions and he was just as kind and happy 2 help us the entire time despite being alone and many other people waiting on him. He hussled and acknowldged every customer as they waited paitently. Also I greatly appreciate the eye contact we recieved from Jeff, Dan, and Daniel as that's very important to me. Respectful thing. :) I wanted to go look at drums for my son and that's where we found Daniel!! He was helping a man when we got there but said hi and he'd be right with us. We were looking for electric drums like the man he was helping and what really grabbed my attention was how he included that man in answering our question which I liked. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. I could tell he enjoyed his job. Then we went back to Dan and it was about 5 min 2 closing and he had about 5 customers there and was happy to assist us again other than ignore us like we were used to from the old store we used to go 2. Been here a couple of times very disappointed, I do lighting and sound production, they need to UP the lighting display, in asking to see some the guy tells me "all my lights are hanging on my truss" as he walks away! the overall display needs a revamp big time! only reason why i give any stars is they are covenantally located one of our venues. too bad the overall experience I would rate poor and needs much improvement read more

If you are not in the music business beware of this place. My 16 year old daughter went in to buy a $54 instrument. I stepped to the side to let her handle it until the salesman tried to sell her a $12, 2 year guarantee (that is 22% of the purchase price). I was trying to explain what a guarantee was when the salesman butted in and started to belittle me by saying do you have insurance on your car? I said I was just trying to explain when I do and don't buy guarantees/warantees but he was butting in and going after me. Finally I said I'm out of her and left the store. My daughter finished the the transaction and tried to buy it without the guaranteed but the guy belittled her saying you can afford to pay 50 cents a month for this great insurance and rang it up for the total including the insurance and held out his hand for the money! She paid and left the store very upset. The salesman told her to break it before the end of 2 years and get herself a new instrument-nice lesson to teach a teenager don't you think? Later I called and talked to the manager Tony and he more than made up for it but I spent alot of time trying to get this right. I didn't want to teach my daughter the lesson to let someone win under these circumstances. The salesmans name was LA. If you get him then be strong! He must be making a killing from selling these guarantees! 22% for a guarantee? wtf? BTW who wants a guarantee on a $54 instrument? LA could sell used cars to the amish! read more

My review is based upon a recent visit, as in the past I have always come here to purchase a lot of my DJ equipment. During this visit, I was treated by a male Employee who was running the DJ section & he was extremely unprofessional; he came off rude and did not provide good customer service with questions I attempted to ask him. I was really surprised by an employee to tell a customer to "move on". Overall, I use to enjoy shopping here for my equipment needs, but one person with a bad attitude has ruined it. Totally unmotivated employee in pro audio hurts sales. It's Sunday Dec 8th after 6pm management can find out who it was. Tall 20s thin African American guy he was working with the other gentleman who has a bit of a limp he will know his name. I ask him about the jbl powered 8 inch monitors vs the Yamaha 8 inch monitors. He sounds like hes familiar. All he says is I prefer the Yamahas. Totally unmotivated face like I'm in his way. I pause to see if he has anything else to say, I'm giving him the time to elaborate the pause was obvious. Nothing, dead air he's not interested. I say ok and walk he's just like ok doesn't care to ask any questions or anything. I just bought 4 adj focus spot 2s and a mobile beat mirage (1,500) laser from prosound and ready to dump more cash for Xmas. I went to guitar center today because prosound is closed on Sundays. I only needed a little bit more elaboration and I would have bought the Yamahas with stands and high end cables without blinking. In the age of Amazon snatching sales from all retail, this guy needs to be retrained or let go. Or gc needs to pay employees more so they don't have these crappy attitudes. I was gonna buy the speakers from the nicer guy with the limp but was just too turned off to stay. read more

Growing up, while I was learning to play guitar, I always stayed away from big chain music stores. If I did go to one, Sam Ash was definitely y first choice over Guitar Center. I was recently reminded why I always chose to stay away. See the problem with big chain stores is that most of the guys that work there, generally speaking, are old failed musicians who never made it big. They are miserable and really have no business being there as they have no patience nor passion about helping young people out on their musical curiosity. This is why I always got to small music stores. This is where the true love and passion for music exist. While at the block, I entered the Acoustic Guitars section and was interested in the used guitars. I asked what the turn around time was for used instruments as I didn't want to keep going every week to see if new used guitars were available. I was abruptly cutoff with a cold and condescending answer by the one whom apparently is named "Garr." Sounds reminiscent of a hair metal guitarist wannabe lol, and he fit the description. Instead of engaging me in convo and asking what I was looking for, he simply didn't make eye contact and would cut me off with such disdain when I tried to ask again how he couldn't give me an approximate time estimate. I left the store with a deep disappointment as I walked passed many young kids plucking the strings on the guitars wondering who would be crushed next by this sorry excuse of an employee. I took my business elsewhere and purchased a real nice Ibanez acoustic guitar at a small mom and pop store in Garden Grove. Sorry you have to watch the next wave of young kids dream and make it big GARRR lol Oh and as for Bratt, the GM, you should really consider doing something about this. Where do I begin? Let me start off by saying that my boyfriend and I are new to playing music. For years I have shied away from GC because I didn't feel "worthy", for lack of a better word. We decided a couple of months to go out and buy a couple of used guitars on Craigslist and teach ourselves bass and guitar by means of Rocksmith. Having very or no experience between the both of us we started and are learning rather quickly, however, our equipment needed some repair and TLC. We had been in and out of this GC for months by this point, shopping and asking questions. They were more than happy to help and I felt they were quite knowledgeable. We had stopped by on occasion and dealt with Tommy, who was just super cool and answered all out questions. We took our quitars in yesterday for some fixes and Sergio V. Helped us with everything and was so nice and helpful, answered all our questions and treated us just like he would have treated someone that knew what they were talking about. extremely upset that my son and his friends were asked to leave the store while trying out instruments. i know at least one other in the group was looking to buy, along with my son, who needs a new acoustic. we usually shop at the gc in cerritos, where my son was told by staff, enthusiastically i might add, that he could come play anytime. these are 3 boys and 2 girls who attend guitar conservatory at an arts high school, so they know what they are doing, are NOT troublemakers, and probably better musicians than the staff. 5 ninth graders in guitar conservatory means many more years of needing guitars and equipment, none of which i'll be purchasing at this guitar center after this incident. when i came to collect him and pay for his guitar, he told me he didn't get a chance to pick out one and why. i was all set to march in that store and give the sad sack that kicked them out a piece of my mind. my son, ever the chill dude, convinced me to forget it and drive to another guitar shop instead. guitar center management in orange, talk to your staff and remind them it's a music store, not a damn museum and to encourage these youth who play instruments! read more

Horrible horrible business!!!!! These guys are the worst guitar center I have ever visited! I came here a while back to look at a Hohner Panther that I was inquiring about for a gift and they had a demo out and didn't let me try it I figured it was probably a bad instrument or something like that and decided to leave. Came back a second time and no more demo available so I thought just my luck and didn't even bother asking for a demo just walked around and ended up buying some straps and left. Today I walked in ready to buy the Hohner because it is my brothers bday. As a musician I know how delicate some instruments may be but I also know that in order to buy one you should be able to look at it or even try it out. Then again we are not just spending a couple hundred. So first I walked in with wife and kid and nobody asked me if I needed help so I decided to walk up to somebody and ask for a demo of the panther and they told me they did not have a demo so I asked can I see it and the man told me he would check because it was a "mission" to get out of the box. I mean really? This is the third time I come here and I've always had bad experience. I think it is very unfair and the man saw I was aggravated as I walked out, was going to ask to talk to his manager and he approached me and all of a sudden he said ok you want I can grab it for you. I mean is that what it took for me to be able to view it? I told him that if I asked to see it the first time was because I was a serious buyer and I wasn't there to waste anybody's time but at that point I didn't want to see it. It's always about customer service and as a sales being my job I always make sure customer is satisfied. I am writing this review because I feel everybody should know how horrible the service is here. I felt offended as if he thought I didn't have the $600 to buy it. I am writing this review outside their door because I did not want to wait till I got home and let it go. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUY A HOHNER ACCORDION DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!! I took my 3 year old son on an adventure to the mall, and we ended up stopping in at GC. He headed straight for the drums. The staff was great, and one very nice and tentative drums associate, Betsy, came over and handed my son sticks, and brought him over to where they had a drum kit set up for small children. She spoke to him directly and with respect, like he was the most important customer in the store. She was kind and patient, and even tried to show him how to hold his sticks properly. I haven't decided if we are gonna get the drum kit, but my son asks frequently if we can go back to GC and play the drums with Betsy. Everyone there was friendly, the store was clean, the displays were attention grabbing, and I never once had to stand idly by or search out a sales associate to have my questions answered. First timer! Decided to check this place out because I wanted to start playing guitar! I bought a yamaha $500, bag, strap,fender chair, foot stool, 3 picks, capo almost spent $1000 on equipment. MEL was very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to guitars! He seemed a little tired but hey that happens when you work hard! And I was probably being a pain since i have no clue about guitars!
