Awesome music store. My teenage son developed a love for the electric guitar this last year because of the cool cats at guitar center. He lives going in and checking out all the different kinds of guitars. He's able to plug in any 1 of their 100s of guitars off the walls and give them a try. He could spend hours doing this. The staff are so nice, knowledgeable, and encouraging. They have good sales and also do resale of used guitars. They also have a huge selection of drums and a drum room. Tons of Dj equipment too. Thanks guitar center for being here. Amazon will never beat you! Nothing like checking out and playing a guitar before you buy it! read more

Worst experience ever! And that's exactly why I'm loyal to Sam Ash. I tried coming in to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and nope. Never again. Came in at 8pm (one hour before closing) and wasn't able to get the help I needed. I was trying to sell some drum stuff and the girl in drums (I didn't bother getting her name and it doesn't even matter she's a useless/helpless employee anyway her name is irrelevant) instantly turned me away. Had I known they couldn't do the sale I wouldn't have drove 40 minutes with my baby for nothing. My gas light turned on and I didn't even worry about it because I was so sure that an hour before closing it would be NO PROBLEM to sell my gear and get gas money especially because I called beforehand and they told me they'd be able to help. So disappointed and upset with you guys. It doesn't take that long to do a used sell. If it's taking employees an hour to do used buys then I'd hire new staff. Sam Ash does them in no time and has never turned me away. Even if I walk in 30 minutes before closing. You'll never see me in any guitar center again and that's a fact. read more

My husband's guitar cord stopped working and he had a practice that same day. We went to the guitar center to pick up a new one for him (or else i would've gotten it off Amazon). The entire time we were there only one person asked if we needed help. We were finaly done looking through everything and went to the register to checkout. We waited at least 5 minutes and we saw a few employees walking around and only 2 that were actually helping other customers. Not one asked if we needed to check out. Finally after waiting a few more minutes one guy asked if we needed to check out. Wow you think standing next to the register? He called for assitance and still we wait some more. By this point I was tired of waiting and the same guy who asked if we needed help finally checked us out and by MIRACLE 2 other guys came to the register to help. Yeah a bit too late for that. Purchased a $300 wireless mic w/receiver that promised 300 feet range only to find out it doesn't deliver more to an 60. Took back to store about a month after to purchase, they said mics have a return window of 14 days(it's in their policy guys). Sold me a defective product and refuses to switch it out or process a refund. read more

I've been a Guitar Center customer for 25 years. This keeps me up at night. I've watched independent music stores fall into bankruptcy, unable to match the prices of their largest competitor. Sadly, I've grown accustomed to their distracted, thoughtless customer service. Browsing through thousands of dollars of professional equipment, I sometimes feel like the cheapest thing in the store. Yet, in a market dictated by economies of scale, Guitar Center remains an important resource for musicians. Purchasing instruments online is expensive and risky, typically involving extortionate shipping fees. Small music stores offer personalized service, but are unable to match Guitar Center's vast inventory and national network of stores. What's more, Guitar Center has an online database of used instruments and equipment, affordably shipped to the store of your choice. The items are examined in-store for damage, eliminating the risk of purchasing through eBay or Reverb. As the proud owner of a lightly used Marshall half stack, I'm giddy to save $350 off the retail price. I want there to be another way, but as many musicians can attest, price is the ultimate consideration. Guitar Center can't be beat in this regard. read more

5 stars for Brittany who shipped an item to my new home free of charge! I ordered a mic online back in october '16, forgot to pick it up from the store and ended up relocating to a new city a few weeks later, forgetting all about my order. I called months later, they still had it ready for pick up. A few weeks later I called back to ask for it to just be shipped to my house, and that I'd pay for the costs. She ended up shipping it to me the same day and my items were at my doorstep the very next day. Super cool! She was very kind and understanding, even though it was pure negligence on my part, which kind of surprised me because in my previous visits to that location, the team wasn't very attentive or helpful. I'll start my review by saying I am in the Music Instrument industry and I'm aware of the business model that GC is trying to change to - more services and less product inventory (especially the high end stuff). GC pretty much caters to the beginner/casual musician. Just look at the inventory of guitars and amps, about 75% of the stuff in stock is priced below $1k. This particular store appears smaller than the other GCs in the IE and it's tucked away in a fairly low traffic area. The people that work there may be friendly and highly knowledgable... I don't know, of the 2 times I've been there only 1 person asked me if I needed help and that was a dude in the acoustic room. They have a decent selection of strings, but so does Amazon and for a better price. During peak times, this store is an aural train wreck. "Kids" all playing essentially the same obnoxiously loud metal riffs through cheap amps with the gain dimed and the occasional dude trying to play jazz scales at the same volume. I suppose if you need a strap, guitar stand, or a Nirvana tab book like right now, this is your place. read more

Went into a guitar center to get a hard case and strap for my guitar was greeted by a gentleman. He was rude in asking me to put on a mask. I did put on the mask but was angry because it was "on incorrectly" or not on to his standards. When I told him that I just needed the cade and I would be out quickly, he refused service and told me to get out. So I left. Incredibly rude would not ever go again. Mandate is stupid enough and I did put on a mask but this guy is one of the rudest people I've encountered. read more

This is probably the biggest let down of a guitar center location that I have experienced so far. The staff are very nice, but the store overall is lacking in the guitar department. It is mostly low cost gear, meaning anything from three to $700, and every single guitar that is over $100 is bolted locked to the wall. It means that if you want to try something as simple as a squier tele you have to ask to have the guitar unlocked. Which means when the store is busy, it is almost impossible to try multiple instruments without feeling like you're bothering someone all the time. Many of the new guitars on the wall are damaged, including an epiphone 335 that I picked up today to try out. there are many other guitar Center locations nearby that are markedly better than this one in terms of quality and quantity of gear stocked. The staff are wonderful, and when I brought these concerns to them, they informed me that the locks on all the instruments started because the theft rate was so high from the store. Bummer of an experience and i wish the store could find some other avenue to make the experience better, but i understand they cant have all their gear stolen. Rotten luck, but if you can check out san bernardino or rancho cucamonga first before coming here. read more

I walked in knowing what I thought I wanted for my first acoustic guitar. I spent hours watching reviews and saw they had the guitars I was shopping for. I was greeted right away and was helped with no pressure to buy. Gary helped me every step of the way for over 4 hours. Yes, over 4 hours. With his help, I sampled over half a dozen guitars in multiple areas of the store. At one point there were a few different people playing and he offered to put me in a training room so I could hear better. He sat down one on one and showed me what to listen for, and even played for me since I'm still a beginner. Amazing help unmatched in my years of shopping. A++!! Last night's grand opening was probably the best I've ever been to. I enjoyed myself, met some really nice people while waiting in line, and came out with an awesome acoustic electric Fender guitar. I'm excited that I don't have to drive all the way to the Rancho Cucamonga location, now I only need to go a couple of minutes from my house. Great job to the staff, and Riverside Police Department on making the wait safe and enjoyable. I've also became a new fan of the band that played last night, Inside Riot. GC will definitely be a regular stop for me now. read more

Customer service is horrible. Won't come out from behind the counter to assist. Just pointed me to a corner of the store and said should be over there. Then continued to lean against the counter. Wandered the store for an additional 15 minutes with not one employee asking if I needed help. Definitely not the norm for GC. The "help" I received was very lazy. read more

Unfortunately I had another bad experience at Guitar Center. Different store same bad customer service. Guitar Center would be a terrific resource if the customer experience was better. I went in to Guitar Center Riverside, I went to look for a new snare and cymbals. A guy came into the drum room and asked me if I needed help. I said yes. I was looking at a snare, he said that he would go and check for an in the box version of that snare. He never came back. Waited for 20 minutes and finally left. Disappointing. I miss the days of the small music stores with great customer service. read more

The never happens to anyone situations only ever seems to happen to me. I bought a pack of sealed brand new strings that just happened to be missing the low A and E string. Ironically enough I only needed the middle D string which I installed. Stupid me takes the newly replaced string and removes it to return the package before I contacted the store. I didnt realize there is a no return policy on strings. I still feel they should have offered some sort of solution for the situation I was in. They didnt even give me a 1 percent discount on the 15 dollar pack of strings I had to buy again two hours later. I just gotta "that sucks have a nice day". read more

Tonights visit to Guitar Center was certainly my last. I drove an hour to get there today only to find out that they don't buy in used equipment an hour before closing. And I wouldn't mind it on any other day but we were in dire need of cash and new gear. I had an entire K Custom Hybrid Cymbal Set I wanted to trade in for a guitar and a Gretsch Brooklyn Chrome over brass snare I wanted to get cash for which would've been perfect to fill my gas tank up to go to a practice studio and back home. But unfortunately they left a terrible taste in my mouth and could not(due to company policy) purchase my gear. I am disgusted at how the girl in the drum department turned us away and said "you can come back tomorrow" No thank you I would rather take my business elsewhere. I can see that turning away an $800 guitar sale isn't a big deal to them but maybe losing a customer is. I hoped that they would've catered to me as their customer but I'm sure their closing duties are more important. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. We attempt to shop at this location about 2 times a month, and each and every time no one there can seem to help. Today we went in at 3pm on a Tuesday. All sales associates kept saying just a minute, 15 minutes later we finally get to tell someone that we need to purchase a guitar string and have it installed. Oh the 1 person that can do that is on a break and it will be 10 minutes. Well 30 minutes later we left since no one seemed to be able to help with our guitar. You would think the majority of associates at Guitar Center should be able to assist with a guitar issue. Especially since half of them are just sitting around the guitar area playing music and not helping or interacting with anyone. I would rather pay 3 times the amount at an independent music store than to spend any money at Guitar Center. read more

This location seems to get pretty good reviews, that's great but I just walked in to buy and orange amplification combo and watch three or four guitar associates just sitting around the counter laughing for about 20 minutes I looked at all of them made eye contact with them nobody ever came to help. I have been to this store a total of 5 times since grand opening (it's only been a week or so). I absolutely love it! The layout is spacious and easy to find everything you're looking for. Their used guitar section is outstanding. They literally have fender customer shop used guitars, that is awesome. Staff are all friendly and knowledgable. The repair tech did a great job on setting up and fixing my pothole on a Gretsch I had. I buy most of my gear at Guitar Center simply because they have a good selection you can test live and the price is right. read more

Let me first say that I walked into guitar center with no plans to really purchase anything at this time because I had vacation plans coming up just to look around for when I got back. I was approached by a Mr. Jean-Luc Strolsee who greeted me unlike some sales people who want to directly ask if you want to buy anything or not and start the hard sell process. Mr. Jean luc took the time to really engage in conversation and get to know me to determine what it is he can assist me with, if I may say so myself well versed on the product, articulate and put me at ease immediately. Well I did not purchase anything that day but returned the next day and purchased from guitar center a bass an amp an interface plus controller a microphone and Monitors all because of your salespersons professional approach. Thank you for assisting me. Also I must make note that I had some problems with the monitors I chose and was introduced to guitar center's customer service manager Nick Giordano who once again handle any issues I had with no questions asked. Today was the first time that I had ever been to this Guitar Center. As soon as I stepped in, I was a bit overwhelmed at all of the musical things surrounding me. No more than 10 seconds later, an employee asked me if I had been helped. I told him that I had not, and that I was looking for some kind of karaoke thing. He asked my price range, what I was going to use it for, and suggested a couple of options. David is truly a 5-star employee who actually cared to go above and beyond his normal responsibilities. I selected a machine that was way on top, so he needed to get a ladder. We found out that it was an open box model, so he called a couple of other stores and was calm and friendly about it too. David then had the idea of sort of mixing and matching. I have yet to try out the machine that I bought, but he mentioned that I could return it within 45 days. Me and my fiance just walked out of this GC. An associate walked up and asked us if he could help us with anything and we told him that we were just looking around (debating on an overdrive pedal) and he asked us if we needes mics and we told him no. Then i asked him about a wireless guitar system and he, i swear to god, threw his hands up and said "no, its okay, i was just asking" then he turned and walked away from us. Called GC on how to trade in a soundboard for credit toward new equipment, they said bring it in and we'll give you an amount. So I brought it in and an employee took a picture and brought it to the manager. When he came back he said they could not help me, when I asked why I was told the manager just said no! The board in question is a Yamaha MG 32 in great condition, with very little use. Today I was planning on getting a wireless headset system and a few other things, my last purchase at GC was $2,400. I brought a friend in from out of town and he bought a Mandolin and accessories. This does not count the other times I have spent thousands at GC. In today's age of online buying, customer service is a must for for brick and mortars. I guess the manager was too busy to at least talk to me in person. My next purchases will probably be online. read more
