Guitar Center at Summerlin has several beautifully designed acoustic rooms, allowing multiple patrons to playtest instruments at the same time. I am not musically inclined, but my partner fully enjoyed trying several electric and acoustic guitars. I think this Guitar Center was nicer than other locations I've step foot in. I really want to commend an awesome employee named Armani. i came in last week and saw a line 6 amp that i'd been searching for. he told me all about it and helped me wheel the cabinet around the store to plug in so i can give it a try. he was super patient with all my questions and shared a lot of his knowledge on tube amps. unfortunately i had to run that night but i came back on black friday and the amp was still there. Armani recognized me from the week before and we got to talking about the amp again. needless to say i bought it. armani is super friendly, professional, patient and a master of his craft. you can really tell he cares about the buying experience, and i would know, i work at a luxury resort on the strip. the summerlin guitar center is definitely the best location in town, all thanks to friendly staff like armani. read more

I started coming to Guitar Center for drum lessons about 10 months ago. They started off great, besides the fact that I don't think I learned the basics of drums, we kind of just did whatever was in the book. Whatever, it was fine, and I had something to do Tuesdays at 230. It wasn't until my drum instructor quit and only gave me notice on his very last day. Which left me scrambling to figure out what to do next. I talked to the lessons coordinator and we set up a lesson with a new instructor for the week ahead. The following Monday, I prepare to walk into Guitar Center, I get an email saying my lesson was cancelled. Yes, the lesson I'm about to walk into, I'm just now receiving an email 5 minutes before it's supposed to start, saying it's cancelled. I go in and the event coordinator isn't there, so the other instructors are trying to help me. They're saying the new drum instructor has quit too even though it's literally his first day... I'm obviously annoyed, as I live 20 minutes from this location and was given absolutely no notice. But there's nothing can be done, so I left. As I'm driving home, I get a call from Guitar Center saying my instructor ended up showing up and I could come back for my lesson? I emailed the lesson coordinator as this was happening, and she emailed me back the next day saying that my lesson shouldn't have been cancelled. I explained the situation to her and never got a response. I emailed the coordinator on Sunday asking if I had a lesson Monday or Tuesday and never got a response. On Tuesday I emailed again just asking to terminate my lessons completely, because I was tired of fighting for any sort of communication. Taking the loss on the prepaid lessons is easier than all of this confusion. Honestly, if you're looking for a place to learn how to play instruments, I'd say save your time and money and find somewhere else. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed. read more

Worst customer service.....EVER. Have been to this store TWICE and had the same experience....TWICE. I was completely ignored by their staff. Not sure if it's because I am a woman, or because I am "vintage" (over 65). After my first experience there, I swore I would never return, but I needed a capo and a new electronic tuner. Figured I wouldn't need their "expertise" for anything. Found what I was looking for and went to check out. I must be invisible because the kid (Trevor?) working the counter never even acknowledged my presence and turned his back on me to help some guy who had just walked in. TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES, GUITAR CENTER!!! A simple "hello" or " I'll be right with you" goes a long way. You will not be getting a third opportunity to treat me that way. Hire employees that want to make sales. I've been trying to pick up the Fender Champion II 100 amplifier for the last 2 weeks but my local store only has a crappy floor model. I wasn't offered a floor model discount or even an offer to order a new one, just straight up ignored. I was in Las Vegas visiting, and rushed down to the Summerlin Guitar Center 20 minutes before closing hoping to finally make my purchase. Employees were less than thrilled and super annoyed. They told me they locked up their drawers and that was that. They were more than happy to let me leave without making my $420 purchase. No wonder these stores are closing down. I did and as of the writing of this message, still no contact has been made. No instrument purchased and no one contacted me regarding such poor service. After a terrible experience at Guitar Center store across the city, I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. Upon calling to see if an item was in stock, the representative was kind and listened to my inquiry while advising what they could accommodate, they don't do holds on items, but it was worth a try. I was able to find if an item was in stock and due to this location actually being closer to me, I was able to have the item I needed for the day in under 20 mins including driving to the store from my home. My son's acoustic guitar string snapped so I took it into the Guitar Center to get it re-stringed. The repair guy basically said he won't repair it because the bar is cracked or separating and re stringing it could make it worse? The bar looked fine to me. He basically said the guitar was worthless and sent me on my way. Luckily, the Musical and Arts store was across the street and they repaired it for free, I just had to buy the string that snapped. In my opinion, don't bother coming here for repairs. read more

Walked in because I wanted to try a particular mid-high end guitar (and was seriously looking to buy). I found an employee and said, "Hey, how's it going" and he said, "Hay is for horses" and walked away (seriously?). Turns out he was the the guitar repairperson. As he was walking away from me, I asked him if I could try a particular guitar off the wall, and he said, "You'll have to see someone in sales" and pointed in the other direction. While it's likely not in his job description to grab guitars from the wall, this guy really needs some customer service training. That being said, I try to be particularly kind and considerate to employees WHEREVER I go (and didn't raise a stink about him either while I was there). I definitely don't think his response or demeanor was appropriate at all. The sales rep at the counter was very helpful and was happy to grab that guitar near the ceiling for me (sorry, I don't remember his name!). He mentioned that they received that guitar (Fender AVii Strat) within the past few days. The setup was pretty bad, with excessively high action. While this isn't all Guitar Center's fault (c'mon Fender!), in my opinion, Guitar Center is losing out on sales if they just hang up guitars without assessing if they're properly set up. It's not that every guitar needs to be PLEK'd - the setup simply needs to be reasonable. Anyway, this spot has a fun selection of guitars for being the smaller GC in town. The guitar center website had a Fender Pro Junior advertised on their website. I called the store to find out a couple of things about the item. I called twice and the phone literally rang for 4 minutes each time. No one picked up. I ended up emailing the store to get more information. I had a couple of simple questions: They displayed the stock photo, was it possible to have actual photos of the item? It's advertised as "excellent". Could they verify that it was in fact in excellent condition? I asked if they could verify what speaker was installed. No one returned my email. This was not an expensive item, but the store lost out on a 375 dollar sale simply because no one picked up, or bothered to take up 2 minutes of their time to reply to my email. I ended up finding the same amp on reverb, being sold by Sam Ash. I put in an offer on President's day, and even though it was a holiday, someone got back to me within an hour, and accepted my offer. I've normally had good luck with used items at Guitar Center stores, and I will usually call up the actual store to ask questions. This was not one of them. Judging from other single star posts, this seems to be a theme. read more

The is review is for the music lesson section only. We had been students there for 2+ years. We had two good teachers who left abruptly. Then we were assigned a new one (Teacher #3.). Teacher #3 sucks. In three months, never assigned my child a new song. She actually got worse because she was so bored. I would pay for an hour session and I come to find out that he would give her a 'break' by walking her around the store for 10-15 min. Totally understand the need for a break, but how about Teacher plays for the student to show her some songs rather than take her on a trip around the store. They also brought in this 'lessons coordinator.' She was the worst. Totally didn't care about anyone. In fact, when I told her we were going to quit - she didn't even care to ask why. (Had she asked, I would have told her about our displeasure with Teacher #3, but she didn't.) When we said we were going to quit after 2+ years, she was like - cool. Lastly, before we quit - I tried to get lessons for my second child on a different instrument (ie, give them more business) and Ms Lesson Coordinator just said, we don't have time. Never worked to see if she could find something that worked for us. It's too bad because this could be a good side business for Guitar Center, but they suck and hire crappy people. read more

Ordered a Used 2019 Yamaha MX49 Keyboard online Nov 4th. Shipping Label created Nov 6th, no tracking from UPS up to this time. Called Customer service 3 times. 1st one said to wait till Nov 15 -- no tracking still. Second agent said he has processed a refund and was trying to make an order for me for a brand new one. 3rd agent said to call this store where the used gear was purchased from. I called and no-one can tell me where the item is, was told by the manager to contact UPS myself? Aren't they the one who shipped the item in the first place? Why can't they tell for sure that the item has gone out from their store? So absurd! At this point I just want my order canceled. Terrible service! I purchased a 270 dollar speaker at this location and it was missing hardware when I opened it. I live 30 minutes away and was hoping I could be compensated in some way to come back for it. SID was very helpful in ensuring that would happen for me but when I returned other staff weren't as kind. I came to Guitar Center to trade in an old guitar for a new one - Now I hate myself for forgetting the name - Joe/Josh was stupendous in helping us, verifying information, and making the trade-in and sale happen as smoothly as possible. It wasn't an easy day either, as they appeared short-staffed and busy. In fact there was another employee there that my husband insisted was a manager that absolutely blew us off with a terrible attitude. Maybe he was stressed and had no more 'straws' to give, maybe that's who he is. It would have been a terrible experience had it not been for Joe/Josh. He facilitated a more than fair trade-in, kept me in the loop the whole time, and honored the 10% trade-in discount to my new purchase. I left pleased, but with a hint of a bad taste from that other individual. Joe/Josh was excellent - 5 stars. That other individual? Zero. If Guitar Center ever reads this, all I know is Joe/Josh is a drummer. Hope he gets the proper kudos and acknowledgement for you all! read more

My husband and I continue to have fantastic experiences at this Guitar Center location across the board, and have for about a year now. We both take piano lessons from Ty Palm, who is such a kind, knowledgeable and encouraging instructor. We have purchased a lot of gear through Henry, who has an incredible history in the music industry and brings so much expertise to his role in addition to being a great guy. There are plenty of things to love about this location but the team here just seems to be a really great group of people who have the passion and knowledge for music that makes them great. read more
