Terrible sloppy job and overpriced. For what they charged he should have rebuilt themread more

Do not do business with this company!…read more After comparing their products with other companies last year, we decided to get A bid to put screens on our front door, our bedroom Lanai, and our living room Lanai. Our front door is a narrow opening due to the condo being built in 1972. The front door required one screen. Our bedroom Lanai doors have two sliding doors. Our living room Lanai has three sliding doors. When the salesperson came out to bid the project, he took all the measurements and later sent us a bid. We explained to him what we were trying to accomplish was that we wanted to be able to open all of our doors to get fresh air in the condo instead of constantly having to run our air conditioner. When we received the bid, the quote was over $1,300. We decided to go ahead and get the work done. When the installer showed up this week, we received a call from him indicating that the way that the project was bid would not work and we were going to have to pay an additional $400 Plus for an additional screen on our living room lanai door. We were told that the salesperson who came out to our condo made a mistake and bid the project wrong. CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH! If they would have bid the job properly and quoted us the higher price that they were now trying to hold us up on, we would have gone with a different contractor and product. It seems very curious to me that the installer did not notice the mistake in the bid until he had already installed the front door screen and the bedroom screen. Once they had installed those two screens, there was no way for us to back out because they had already done the work partially. I told the installer that upcharging us for a additional screen on the living room door when I was so specific on how I wanted the job done, was a deceptive and unconscionable business practice and I told him not to put the screen on the living room door until I had a chance to discuss this with his manager. Well, the manager called me this morning and was offended that I implied that this was a bait and switch. He basically said that his salesperson erroneously bid the project and that I would have to pay for the additional screen of over $400 to get are project done the way we had originally been quoted from the salesperson. He was unwilling to make any concession, in spite of this being totally their fault. He implied to me that the written bid that they emailed me, even though it was extremely confusing and wrong, did not mean that they had done anything improper. I explained to him that if the original bid had been correct I would not have done business with them. We would have chosen another company because we had a limited budget that we wanted to stay within. None of this mattered to him. The manager also implied that I should have known that the living room door was going to require two screens, not one, because of the size of the door. How am I supposed to know that are living room Lanai door was going to require two screens, when his experienced salesman did not know that? I owned and managed to a service business for 32 years. When one of my employees quoted something wrong, I just ate the difference because our business integrity was more important than a few dollars profit. Apparently, at Phantom unseen screens, their profit is more important than their business integrity as I was not offered any concession whatsoever on the additional screen that they claim was the only way to do our project as we originally wanted. In closing, I would recommend that you find another company to do business with. Phantom unseen screens may provide you with a bid, but they won't necessarily stand by the bid that they gave you to do the job as you requested. That was my experience. Choose another contractor.
