I wouldn't board your dogs here, they don't communicate and treat your boarding dog as a business transaction rather than a pet.

This vet has gone downhill fast. We have been taking our dogs to Gully Animal Hospital of Midlothian for 8 years and will not be returning. After having issues with them last year due to their staff not updating records we gave them another opportunity this year and once again, they proved they are a vet to avoid. For a second year in a row our dog's records were not updated correctly and services performed were not on record, forcing us to come back in for another appointment so that we could order our dog's annual medicine. They do not care about your animal but rather just get you to come in as frequently as possible. Sad to see what used to be a good vet gone. read more

No communication while pup is in boarding & dogs not having enough play/time out. Just hand you an expensive invoice at pick-up with still no report of pup's stay. Dogs are most people's "kids" & owners appreciate feeling like their animals are treated/taken care of as such! read more

Left my 5 year old yellow lab under Gully's care for 7 days. I've boarded him before under different care, mind you at another vet, he was able to socialize with other animals with no medication needed. Gully stated he needed medication (anxiety/muscle relaxers) in order to board him. All they were going to do was walk him for multiple times a day/put him in a kennel/space. Received no communication when they muzzled him for a nail trim (unable to complete), or any kind of communication for 7 days of me leaving him there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Being new in town I read great reviews about Gully Animal Hospital, loved the idea of it being an animal hospital and having boarding as well. But sadly my experience was not what I expected. I used their boarding services twice, the first time it was okay, no issues, the second time my dog came back home not looking like himself, very down and acting odd... a few hours after we got back he threw up literally everything inside him... I had never seen him throw up that much! When we called Gully to ask if he was acting off, or if he ate something abnormal or if they noticed anything unusual their response was that he was perfectly fine, no issues at all... which was frustrating because if I were to make an appt to see the vet (at the same place) the first thing the vet would ask is: where was the dog? did he eat normal? Did you notice something unusual? And my answers would have been: he was at your clinic and I have no other answers for you. So I let it go and he was fine a few days later. Then I took him for grooming and two things happened: 1. They called and said his ears were infected and he needed to be treated but went ahead and did the treatment ($300) before my husband said OKAY. So they didn't wait for us to approve the treatment. 2. He was sent home with 2 big, burns/cuts on both his ears and didn't care to tell us that they either burn him or cut him...couldn't tell what it was... bottom line the scabs got infected and they were not accountable for what happened, didn't even apologize, even tried to tell me it happened when he was NOT in their care which is completely false and also said it was probably because of him shacking his head... which is absurd!! The scabs were huge and very thick!!! That can't happen because he shakes his head! He went in perfectly fine, they sent him home with 2 burns/cuts that were NOT there before and I noticed the very next morning. They were rude about it when I brought it up, zero accountability which made me immediately stop going there. I hope everyone's experience is better but wanted to share my own. read more

I absolutely love this vet clinic. There isn't enough words to describe how grateful I am for them. They see all 3 of my dogs. Penny, Oliver and kilo absolutely love coming here and feel so safe. The front desk staff is so friendly and always tries their best to answer all questions and if they can't they always get a Dr. Dr. Mason saved my dogs life when he was a puppy. We nearly lost our sweet kilo from pneumonia. They were able to save him and have provided excellent service after. They always call after each visit and check in with how the dogs are doing and I just think that is so sweet. 10/10 vet clinic read more

Personally, I had a good experience here. Take note that I have only been once so far and it was just for vaccinations. However, the staff was very friendly to me as well as my nervous dog. They seemed to really be listening to my concerns and when I mentioned I was concerned about a certain heart condition my dog is predisposed to, the Vet and (assistant?) seemed to listen to his heart intently with the stethoscope, and offered to refer me to a clinic that can do the specialized testing for it. The lady over the phone and at the desk that I encountered was friendly, and the one I didn't interact with was to-the-point but not rude. I'll be going back in the future. I will come back and edit if anything goes wrong over the next year or two. read more

This is a really nice, and new vet clinic. I've been here multiple times over the last several years for routine check ups/vaccines for my dogs and one puppy that needed to be spayed, The staff are very welcoming, and the veterinarians I've interacted with all seem knowledgeable and good at their jobs. Currently, during the time of quarantine, they are asking pet parents to sit in the parking lot until they can work you into their schedule. I have had to do this twice and each time my appointment was not anywhere near on time. Make sure you have enough gas in your vehicle or you may run out! Since this is a trying time for everyone I try to be flexible, especially since I can't put my pet's health appointments off any longer! read more

This is the most money hungry Animal Hospital on the planet! First visit for my little chihuahua named spike he was 16 years old blood work exam and vaccines were $380.00. He needed dental surgery to remove bad teeth. The Doctor told me he has weak kidneys but she felt he "had some life left in him" she recommended doing the procedure. It was not an easy decision. I had his surgery and it was another $900.00 (very expensive) I got my little buddy back and he never recovered. I brought him back in for a follow up another $80.00 and 3 days later he died at home. I'm beyond heartbroken and feel like I shouldn't have gone forward with this procedure. This place just wants your money and they just don't care about your pet. Do not take your beloved fur baby here! There are better places to take your pet! I don't recommend Gully Animal hospital It's just an awful place read more

MONEY HUNGRY!!!! I was informed that in order for my dog to be groomed there they now require an annual exam by one of THEIR veterinarians yearly regardless of the fact the dog has already had an annual exam by our one-on-one veterinarian and provided all documentation to substantiate the fact. Gully has multiple veterinarians on staff and your never guaranteed to see the same doctor every visit. This place is all about the money and their prices are exorbitant!!! read more

We had taken our pets here for some time, but during every visit something extra always seemed to come up that added to the cost. During our last visit we were told prices had gone up due to supply chain issues???? In addition they told us that one of our pups needed several teeth removed and the estimated cost was $1500-$2000.... Something seemed off so we went to another local vet and our dogs appt was today. Teeth cleaned, blood work, 1 tooth removed.. $450..... Never going back to Gulley.... They are nice people but obviously overtreat and over charge. read more

The animal doctors are exceptional the disappointment continues to be with the staff. The turn over at the front is constant and it continues to create scenarios where appointments are entered in correctly or purpose of visit has to be adjusted upon arrival. Customers are not allowed to bring their pets in and you must stay in your car. You call when you arrive and wait for someone to show up to pick up your pet. It's often a stranger due to the high turnover high creates uneasiness in the pet. Everything is completed over the phone, which seems to be creating some of the communication breakdown as you try to get info from your pets visit. The technicians are hit or miss. There are great ones one day where pet has no issues getting nails trimmed and the next visit the tech is trying to restrain for a trim which creates anxiety and fear of being there. Love the doctors but not a fan of the staff. Called on Thursday this week to schedule a nail trim and was told there was no availability until Saturday at 11. Arrived today at 11 only to find out the person working the front entered Friday at 11. Unsure how, if there isn't availability until Saturday but now sitting in the parking lot waiting to be squeezed in as there is no appointment. Time to find a new vet! read more

I am new to this clinic but they are the ones to call when you are in pinch. They offer after hours. The clinic is one of the most efficient clinics I've ever seen. I transferred all 9 of my animals to this clinic. The doctor's are very knowledgeable and will get the job done without trip after trip like my other vet. I highly recommend this clinic. The staff is awesome. The 2 people at the front are knowledgeable and know how to expedite any situation to get you the help you need for your pets. Love them! read more

What an amazing Animal Hospital! Last week I had to make a decision that every pet owner dreads making. I had to euthanize my childhood dog of 17 years. When I called this vet for a quote on pricing that is when I fell in love. They were very compassionate and helpful to getting an appointment set up and helping me understand the process. Once at the Animal Hospital we were given the option of doing the process in their yard or inside. With COVID still a thing it's a really hard to find a place that will let you come in and say goodbye to your animal. Once inside they were again very compassionate and explained the entire process to us. We were able to choose how sleepy we wanted our dog before the actual process took place. Once the sleepy shot was given they let us have some private time with our dog. They provided us with a wireless door bell to push once we were ready to say our finally goodbye. When the whole process was over they provided us with a clay paw imprint so that we could remember forever. The experience wasn't the only great part, the cost was also friendly for anyone on a budget. I was quoted $500 by veterinarians near me and only $205 here. In conclusion I highly recommend this vet. They have the best service, people, and affordable prices. If this is your first time I promise it won't be your last. read more

I read another review about emergency for a pet. This turned into overpriced flu shots. Well, in that review, the office manager gets on phone with client and eventually threatens lawyers!!! What? She threatened to pull video and audio of my visit. Why? Go ahead. Hope you find what you're looking for. I wanted a rabies shot. I got a $191 bill. So, while I'll be getting records of all my dogs, I will be getting them from the office manager. Gully docs are in a bind because they see the opposite of what patrons see...or hear. It's a damn shame that an office manager with a chip on their shoulder has to be the reason for issues. Just wait. It gets even better. This wasn't the only place reviews were written. read more

I hope you don't need them in a pinch. After 6 months and over $600. in new puppy bills, this office could not work us in the schedule for 2 days to see our sick dog. Called another local vet and they helped us. Also, as of 6/3/21 they STILL will not let the owner accompany the pet in their offices. Have been going to this clinic for over a year now, since relocating to Midlothian. The vets are very nice. Everyone else is nice, but not overly friendly. My first visit to the clinic was long, around 2.5 hours. I asked if visits were typically that long and was advised that they had some emergencies come in, and that they are also an emergency hospital, which seemed reasonable. The website also states full service hospital including unexpected emergencies. I went to the clinic around 12:30 on a Friday, and approached 3 ladies at the front desk. I indicated that I did not have an appointment but my dog had vomited and seemed to have breathing issues since. One of the ladies handed me the card for the emergency vet in Midlothian and said I would need to go there and that they don't handle emergencies. I asked why I was told that they did which was the reason I had a long, delayed appointment so that incoming emergencies could be attended to. Reply was I don't know. So, guess I'm not clear on if they see all emergencies or just pick and choose.. also, probably should update their website with removing they address unexpected emergencies.. will be looking for a new vet office. read more

My dog was seen for emergency exam/blood work on April 12th. It was determined that she had probably given herself a mild stomach ulcer due to eating something she shouldn't have. I scheduled to have her second flu vaccine on April 30th. She had her first flu vaccine at another office for $26. At her vaccine apt, no treatment plan was given, the vet gave the vaccine, and upon check out we were charged $102.50. I did not take my dog to this apt, so I called demanding an explanation. There was a huge misunderstanding that made me think my dog had received the wrong vaccine, but upon speaking with the tech I was informed she received the correct vaccine. I was told all vaccine apts have to have an exam fee of $50 because the animal has to be deemed healthy to receive vaccines and because the vet is the one who has to give the injection. My dog was considered healthy other than a minor stomach issue two weeks ago, she did not need an exam, and at every vet I have every been to if the animal is established with the office no exam fee is charged for vaccine apts! I also demanded an explanation for being charged $49 for the vaccine being as the first vaccine was only $26 for the same exact vaccine. I was told that they charge per strand of the flu that comes in the vaccine which there are two. So I was double charged for one vaccine! Upon research this vaccine should cost anywhere from $25-35 not $49! I received a phone call on May 3rd from the office manager. When I explained my frustration she explained that she would be willing to give me a refund for the exam, but not the vaccine. When I told her that I would be posting reviews to let others know what they are doing is wrong, the manager threatened me by stating she would have to get lawyers involved! I just want to warn others to always ask for a treatment plan before services are rendered and to research accurate pricing of procedures, vaccines, medicines, etc. read more

My first appointment I had to wait an hour with my cat when I made a scheduled appointment. Which is fine I waited and they apologized. My second visit I made a scheduled appointment again a week in advance for both of my cats. They called and asked if I can come in 30 minutes early. I said yes. Went up there on time and ended up waiting almost an hour past my original scheduled time. Has anyone sat in a car with 2 cats it's NOT fun for me or my poor babies. I just wanted to say what an amazing experience I had here. My dog had a little accident and my usual Doctor was unable to see him at the moment so they recommended me here and I see why.
