This was my first experience here. My wife and I came in for a group event to qualify for our CCW…read more I'm a very experienced gun owner, military veteran, prior law enforcement and retired federal agent. Here's what I noticed. I was looking at the handguns before my time up to shoot. The sales people were very polite and seemed genuine. There is a good selection of handguns and they seemed reasonably priced. When we were checking on at the counter the girls behind the counter were super polite and made the experience friendly and positive. The range crew was an entirely different story though. They ruined the entire experience. Based on some of the other reviews I can see a lot of other people have had similar experiences. I put my wife's gun in a lock box and I was carrying it for her. Mine was on my hip in a holster, open carry and very visible. Like every other time I've open carried. There were two range officers inside the range (you can see through the windows). One of them waived us to come inside. You have to go through two sets of doors. The first one takes you to a very small waiting area before heading into the actual range. One of the range officers (who looks 22 years old), opened the second set of doors and started to waived us through and as he is doing so commences to yell at us "hurry up, get inside". Once inside, the second range officer (older white haired gentleman) waived me over to one of the lanes. I walked over as instructed and placed my gun on the table pointed down range. He then says to load it and fire 6 shots down range. I told him it was already loaded. That's when he starts to yell "you don't ever walk into this range with your gun already loaded". I just nodded. After firing my 6 rounds, he moves the target and says to fire 12 more. I do as he asked. He then moves it again and tells me to fire 12 more. Once I was done, I removed the magazine and locked the slide back. When I did that the barrel pointed 1 inch to the left, still putting down range and away. He freaks out and screams "Point the gun down range". I responded "it is pointed down range". I put the gun down and he starts to chastise me some more. I just ignored him and moved back to the window to wait for my wife. She was up next. She was going to use my gun also. I already laid out enough magazines for her to use and left the gun, with the slide back to show our wasn't loaded. She fired her 30 rounds, and the guy was overly nice. As if he was all of a sudden her coach. When she was finished she locked the slide back as I've shown her. He cleared her and said ok you're done. The holster was on my hip. The slide was back and no magazine was in the gun. She started to walk back towards me to give me my gun, when the infant range officer grabbed her and started to push her back to the lane, screaming at her that you don't walk away from the lane without the gun in a locked box. When he put his hands on her I almost grabbed that dude. Don't put your hands on my wife! I yelled at him. When he saw how upset it made her and I he just mumbled under his breath. The range crew ruined this experience and we will never be back here. What a horrible way to treat people. They get 2 stars because the sales crew and the front counter staff were good. When your range crew treats people like trash because you're in "their world", then the rest of your business suffers. Being a range officer doesn't give you the power to be flat out disrespectful and never gives you permission to put your hands on people. After leaving we drove up the road to another shop and bought 10 boxes of rounds and a new Kimber 380.

With respect to the range check in .... I think that the two individuals I see on my weekly trips are 100% rock stars .... Henny and Amanda rule the counter with great humor, conversation, and efficiency that makes check in, target selection, range lane assignment and if you are in the weapon rental mind... pretty darn efficient and just a darn pleasure. The guys (range safety officers) running the actual range are great... not only do they insure the range operates safely and strictly by the book, they are always willing to help with a minor weapon problem, offer some marksmanship advise or just check in with us regular members. Now the retail side is always checked out after a shooting section. I must apologize that I don't recall any of the guys names other than Brad. I'm pretty much a sig sauer shooter and the retail side is a sig elite dealer, so it is always stocked with the newest models and accessories. My shooting family and I have purchased quite a few "sigs" there and their sales and service is top notch. Bottom line, if I'm practicing my marksmanship at an indoor range, it only American Shooters!

Even though I'm very experienced, I can see how their attitude makes the environment much nicer for newbies who might be intimidated. The Experience: Process: Super easy--just fill out the waiver on the iPad and they sign you in. RSOs: The Range Safety Officers were great. They were friendly and stayed hands-off once they saw I knew what I was doing. Performance: Ran drills at 10 yards (head) and 25 yards (torso). The lanes are well-lit and the facility is very clean, which makes for a productive session. Value: Hard to beat $24 for the whole day (good until they close). I brought my own guns, ammo, and targets, so for a straight range fee, the value is excellent. Highly recommend this spot whether you're a local or just passing through. I'll definitely be back.

For me, the experience to "test" my skills against another individual is worth the $$$ (I call it "educational tuition"). And yes, the staff were attentive and very helpful (gave them a generous tip, as well). Thank you for the opportunity - had a great time! Now, were the staff holding back in the shoot house??? I scored 9-points with two 15-rd mags (but with a few Type 3s, lost a few rounds in the clearing) against the staff's 2-points using a single 15-rd mag.
