Amazing Service! My truck has had issues with rough riding down the road. I had it looked at by a GM service center, paid for balancing and rotating of tires and still rough riding. I recently bought a used SUV that really needed some new shocks. I read online that this particular vehicle (2007 Nissan Xterra) was prone to having a soft rear-end so I wanted to add a helper spring to improve ride comfort and handling when fully loaded, say for a camping trip for example. I spoke with Steve at Gunnels and he was very friendly, informative and easy to work with. The whole package, including front and rear suspension, cost me about $1200.00 out the door, but I was able to have them do the rear 1st and the front a little later, just to split up the expense. I can sleep easy knowing its fixed right. They will give you an estimate before they do any work on the car. I was referred to them by my best friend mom who had been going to them for years. Had a dashboard warning light that kept going on my new car telling me I had an under inflated tire. For the life of me my tires looked fine and they had the proper pressure in them. Thinking that I possibly had a sensor issue or I was simply crazy and couldn't read a pressure gauge, I stopped over to have one of the guys check my tire pressure. Sure enough, he checked the pressure in all 4 tires and they had the correct pressure. About that time I am getting prepared for them to tell me my tire pressure sensor is bad, the mechanic said I know what it is... Apparently my spare has a tire pressure sensor (who knew) and after pulling off the tire cover and adding 15lbs of air, problem solved. Simple solution to a problem that most would never guess! I suppose that is why they are the experts. read more

This seems to be the place to go if you are friends of the family. I have heard rave reviews and always get told to go here. I have come here for service more times than I should have, but out of convenience and the rave reviews from others I continue to find myself coming back to give them another chance. I had a full fluid flush on our SUV. When the rear differential started leaking the next day my wife brought it back in. She told them there was a puddle in our driveway and asked them to take a look. The gentleman came back and said that the differential was low on fluid and there is a good chance it was damaged from running low. He said "When did you have it serviced last?" to which she replied "Yesterday, here." He quickly responded "Oh, I'm sure it's fine." ...I'm still not sure if it was fine because it wasn't driven long since yesterday or if he thought it was fine because they were the ones responsible. When I need a quick tire patched or a tire balanced, I stop in and always wind up paying something. I've since started going elsewhere that offer these services for free or less expensive as I know I'm not part of their "inner circle". I'm sure they have many long term customers as the business has been around a long time. I just don't think they are looking for more long term repeat business. I suspect they stay plenty busy with their existing clients, who I honestly think are treated very well and are happy customers. I just can't speak the same from my personal experiences here. read more

I currently live in Flagstaff and needed my car worked on while I was visiting family, and after coming here I plan to make the drive any time I need service again. As a woman I feel a little intimidated when going into shops like this. I was spoken to with respect, and didn't feel like I was taken advantage of like some of the shops I have tried out in Flagstaff. I am very displeased with gunnels. We took our nissan in they gave us an estimate of $600 for one problem. We were ok with that and gave them the green light. When we went in the total was $1600!! They said they had to order the part for it and that it's expensive, (online and elsewhere it was not even close to that price) and labor and that nissans are "hard to work on" we were so mad! We let the manager/owner know and he said nothing he can do. Three days later what we had fixed broke again, causing my husband to miss work. Unpaid. We took it back and we literally had to argue to get them to fix it for free. They tried to charge us just labor. Rediculous. Do not go there. Try motor tech in mesa. Such great service from them!! read more
