I was heading out of town on Thursday and had a vibration at speed. A dealer had installed new tires but couldn't schedule me before I was leaving town. I needed my tires balanced. I also wanted to put a lift and rims on my Ram 2500. I called around and left emails. Gunnell's called me back Monday morning at 10 am. They told me they could get the lift and rims I wanted and have it done Wednesday, in time for me to leave town. The price was also better than what I was planning for. I researched them a little and they came with a good recommendation. I dropped it off Wed morning at 8 and got it back before 2. I took it on a 400+ mile weekend trip. I had no issues, no vibrations - no problems. Plus it looks so much better than stock. I would recommend them to anyone for tires, rims etc.. When it comes time for the diesel fuel filter and maybe even just an oil change, I will give Gunnell's another try. The service and speed were impressive. read more

This is a little hard because I really like the people at Gunnell's - they're friendly, honest, accommodating. Prices are very reasonable. And their location at the corner of Gilbert & McKellips is near my home. But their level of expertise and attention to detail is lacking. I sent my son's family there to have their car's transmission checked just before a trip, and they completely misdiagnosed the problem and had to get it fixed somewhere else. When I bought new tires, I had to go back and adjust the inflation--some were underinflated, others over. And now I just took my car to my most trusted mechanic for its 30,000 mile checkup and they were complaining that the previous shop (Gunnell's) had overtightened the oil filter. Plus Gunnell's had put in regular grade oil when Lexus specifies synthetic. But they're nice people and I'm sure if I complained they would try to fix whatever. read more

What a difference from the last time I came in. Except for the young lady everyone seemed to be jerks. I doubt I will be back. Overcharged for what they did. Honda dealer charged me $125 per tire. I know buying tires from a dealer is always more expensive but it was late and my wife needed the car. Anyway these rude fellows charged me almost double. This is not the way you keep customers. I've been going to these guys for years with different vehicles. They do an exceptional job every time! My husband and I got married yesterday and my truck was squeaking so we took it in before leaving on our honeymoon. Jason drove it around for us and told me right away what the issue was. Bad service. They absolutely have know idea what they are doing. Took in my truck for an issue and when I went to pick it up when it was ready they said everything was fine. Ok, great. Drove down the road and not more then 1/4 mile away the same issue was happening. Took it back and they scanned it with the computer and told me it was fine. Still the same issue. Not happy and demanded they give me my money back because they did not fix the issue. That was an escapade in itself. Took it to another local shop. One cylinder was fouling out a spark plug. Turned out my truck had a bad head gasket. Needless to say I got it fixed right at another shop. I would never use Gunnell's for anything. And to top it off they were trying to tell me that my 6 month old tires were bad and I should consider buying new ones. What a joke. Never again. I warn you. Keep away from them at all costs. The best tire shop around. Great owners, great staff, honest and trustworthy. I drive 30 minutes just to get work done on my trucks.

Absolutely horrible service. The guys in there were very rude and talk in a condescending manner. They don't listen to anything you're trying to tell them about you're own vehicle. My car wouldn't start after I just replaced a fuse and the battery. This led me to think it might be electrical or also the starter because when i turned the key in the ignition i heard a "click". Which told me the battery was good. He said "it might be the fuel pump". No. If the engine attempted to turn over and wouldn't start than it might be the fuel pump. The guy was so rude, kept cutting me off while i was trying to explain the issues. I am by no means a mechanic but I do have some knowledge and i have worked on my own vehicle before. I enjoying working on and learning as much as i can about my vehicle. The electrical and wiring is where i run into issues. That's where i needed a mechanic, someone who knew more about the electrical issues of a vehicle. This is where Jason C came in! I was very close in assuming it was an electrical issue. Jason C was super helpful. He listened to my displeasure with one of the other guys and offered to take a look. It was a grounding issue. I didn't think to check the terminals on the battery because i was so careful to make sure everything was tightened down when i replaced the battery. Jason said the terminals can be loosened just by driving around. He put a spacer on my negative terminal and my vehicle was up and running. We learn something new everyday if someone is patient and willing to take the time. Unfortunately, regardless of how amazing Jason was, I will never go back there again for service. I was going to go to Big O for my leaking tire but went here because my day car provider knows the owner. She promised me the best service. She called the owner, Jeff, personally and asked him if he would take me in at 7:30 am (the shop opens at 8am). He said sure, come on in. I got there and his crew was prepping the shop to open. He moved some things out of the way, got my car in, and had me on my way to work within a half hour. Jeff is truly service oriented and I will not buy tires from any other place. read more

Our vehicle which is our family's main income was having a issue with not starting, we took it to Gunnell's as it was recommended to us by a neighbor and left it there for 5 days. First the guys at the front desk did t even look at me when I dropped it off I didn't take it personal as I didn't really mind they seemed busy. Anyways I had to tow my vehicle from our home to the shop the guy whom I had spoke to on the phone said it was going to be $240 to see what was wrong with it , I was fine with that, after the 5 days I received a call and was told my motor was gone! Minds you we had never had any major issues with our vehicle! The guy then said it will be just $60 for them looking at it I was surprised sounded good but what I didn't know was my vehicle hadn't really been checked! I then Called my husband and let him know what Gunnells had said and we talked it about it for a whole day trying to figure out what we were going to do with our vehicle it became very stress full as it was our way to support our family we were very sad at the bad news. We then decided to get the vehicle towed back to our home and finally decided to tow it it another shop the next day we then took it to a small Mexican shop and and left it for a day they fixed it! Thank god! We were told it was just a short and changed the starter nothing big! I was so upset that we had put our trust In Gunnells and they almost had us send our vehicle to the junk yard. And we would've been out of a job. Having children to support and bills to pay this had us almost crying! All because of people who don't do their job right not fair! After everything we went to the shop and made sure to let the manager know what was going on in his business he did refund our $60 back and heard our concern. We didn't really care about getting our money back we just want to let people know to be careful and make sure this doesn't happen to anyone. read more

I have always gone to Gunnels and we took our car in because it wasent starting and they told us what was wrong so we paid $850 to get it fixed and drove it home then the next day it wouldnt start again and they told us it was something else that was actually wrong and would be another $1,200 to fix that. So we ended up having to buy another car because we didn't want to keep putting money into that car so we wasted $850 to get our car "fixed" when they didn't even fix it. We really felt like we got taken advantage of and they where really dishonest about what happened. read more

I have been a long-time customer of discount tire (15 years). I went in to get a tire repaired and they said that I needed to buy a new tire which wasn't at a discounted price. A friend recommended I give Gunnell tire on Gilbert and McKellips a call. I spoke with their salesman David and not only did he quote me a better price than discount tire but he was able to repair the tire and I did not need to buy a tire. BEWARE! We took our 06 Honda accord in for an oil change and overheating issue in which they called us at the end of the day saying that the head gasket was broken and it was going to be a $3000 fix. When we went to go pick up the car, the car would barely drive anymore and believe they damaged the car further. They said that they had a guy that could buy the car For $300 if we didn't want to fix. We ended up taking the car to another mechanic who specializes in Hondas and said that Gunnels was trying to rip us off as the car needed a new fan and ignition coil and that the head gasket was fine. read more

Had a nail in my tire today. Went to a random tire shop. They said the tire could not be repaired and I had to buy new ~ $190 price tag. I recalled my friend mentioning a favorite tire shop some days ago. Asked my friend and he said Gunnell's. Drove up there on the spare tire. Gave them the keys. The tire was repaired within the hour. Went in for a leveling kit. Got the truck home and saw they broke a bolt that held the brake line up instead of fixing it right they just zip tied it up and sent it on its way. Thing that made me most mad they didn't ever mention this to me. Took it back the next day they then drilled it out and used a bolt and nut to fix it maybe took an extra 15 mins. Being related to brakes I would say this would be a huge safety concern. I for one will never go back and advise anyone to check their vehicles after any work this shop does. read more

Except...they broke the cap on one of my wheels while balancing. Did not offer to fix or replace. Handed the broken cap to me...did not take any accountability. I really like these guys. After getting the run around from Discount Tire about how they couldn't fix my tire because they said it didn't meet the requirements for my truck (but they admitted it used to) I took it to Gunnell's. They fixed the tire right on the spot, and quick too. They aren't like Discount and Big O who invite you in for free tire repair, but then try to to convince you your tires are unsafe and you better buy some new ones. The fact that these guys treat me so well when I didn't buy the tire from them, when I do need new tires, I'm going to them. Treat people nice, they'll come back. read more

Brought my truck in to have a leveling kit installed and an alignment done. They charged me for both but did not complete the alignment! I had my suspicions it was not done because it looked off but they assured me it was done. I had a oil change service scheduled the following week at the dealership (covered under service plan) so I had them check the alignment and just as I suspected, it was way off!
