I did NOT expect to see a Gunpla shop when exploring through Old Town San Diego and I was immediately drawn in by how bright and welcoming the store was. Worker immediately greeted us and let us know to ask them if we had any questions. There's J-pop and Anisong playing in the store, they hold community events, and there's a wide variety of Gunpla, Gunpla building accessories, other anime figs/goods, blind boxes, etc. Great place to grab a gift for an anime loving fan. I also have to commend the shop for having a really cool custom mural of a Gundam overlooking San Diego. That's how you know that there's some real local love. The only point of comparison that I have with Gunnzo is the older Anime Jungle in LT and that sometimes feels like a TSA line to get in. Great price point comparison. I'm sadly not a huge mecha person and the last fig kits I built were for FGO, but I would definitely stop by again! read more

They have an online website where you can view what is in stock and when you arrive in-store the selection is well organized with many different options. They have all the various grades of gunpla including entry all the way up to perfect grade. They also have all the necessary accessories including nippers, sanding devices, and more! The value and prices of the kits are all within the normal price. They are very competitive and not up charged in anyway. The service is great. Every worker I meet there is knowledge and helpful. Gunnzo carries a lot gunpla and other collectibles. I always go there because they got the latest releases of gunplas. Gunnzo uses 5-star reward system, you simply enter your phone number to accumulate points. Points can be used as coupons later on. The pricing is a lil on the expensive side. But if you are looking for certain gunplas, Gunnzo is most likely to receive the latest ones before other shops receive theirs. They also have an online store. This was kind of a neat little store, something happened to my picture upload or I'd be able to show the cool different stuff they had. I don't know a lot about Japanese toys, but a lot of what they had seemed to cater to their version of what Transformers would be (maybe something newer than Transformers?). They also had a ton .... when I say a ton, I really mean a ton .... of stuff that was related to Hello Kitty. Several pop culture stuff had been reimagined in the Hello Kitty world. Prices seemed to be fair to on the somewhat expensive range, but again, the higher prices may have been totally normal for those items. Just maybe research a little before making a purchase. After recently getting into the gunpla hobby, I am very happy to discover such a great place like Gunnzo. It is a small little shop, and it seems to be mostly focused on gunpla and other Bandai plastic models, though they have some other popular japanese toys and collectibles as well. The staff and owners are lovely and always helpful, and when it comes to looking for specific gunpla I will always check here first and make preorders here. They also carry most accessories that you would want such as nippers, brushes, a full selection of Mr. Color and Mad Ape Ninja paints, and cements and glues. If you are into Bandai models, especially gunpla, this is a place worth checking out. I go to this place for sonnys and I honestly hate going here. The worst place in SD to get sonnys they up charge them so much even the regular series. Its always the same man who rings me up and you can just tell he's tired of the sonny girlies going in there. I waited in line on a day that was not busy at all and he was so friendly to the man in front of me and made conversation but when I was ready to check out his whole demeanor changed and when I asked for a bag he said "No." at first I thought it was a joke and he was going to give me one but he was serious. This isn't the only time I had gone to this store to buy sonnys and even my friends noticed his rude demeanor just from one visit. It seems like theyre tired of the influx of customers. I reccomend Haha Fashion in MiraMesa theyre always so sweet there or even just buying them online directly. read more

Chika especially is such a warm and friendly person that I'll go out of my way to grab items here from rather than any other online or local retailer whenever something I want is in stock here. Gunnzo is a store that can easily be overlooked by first-timers. We initially missed it driving down the street, thinking that we were going to see a commercial building, but it is actually located in the owner's house, giving it a very DIY feel. It's very unique with the feeling that you're entering someone's house but you are also actually entering their business/store. My boyfriend was very pleased with their wide array of toys that were shelved and displayed here. I'm not an expert in this field, so I took his word for it since his taste is particular when it comes to artsy things. I was definitely impressed with the range from Futurama toys to Streetfighter collectibles. Vinyl toys, dunnies, anime...if you have any interest in these, this is definitely your store to check out. It's also unassuming that this store is located in Old Town across the street from some incredible Victorian homes, but the worker was extremely nice and shy at the same time. You could tell from looking out through their balcony from inside the store that they had a very beautiful view. I found out that the worker was from Kyushu, Japan, so we were able to exchange stories about my experience there and some of the local food that we both equally miss. The bf ended up purchasing two toys and I thought it was a fun stop on our way back home.
