Preface: Just in case you haven't had Nepali cuisine, it is strongly related to the geographic…read morelocation of Nepal between India and China. It takes elements of Indian cuisine and Chinese cuisine to generate a unique style. I ordered the vegetable chili momo. (Momo are similar to dim sum steamed dumplings, but have different fillings.) These momo contained a tasty vegetable blend in a chili sauce with vegetables. My husband ordered chicken pakora as an appetizer and chicken biryani for his entree. I didn't try the pakora, but they came with a sweet chili sauce (almost tasted like red bell pepper was blended in too) that was awesome. Then came our entrees. The spices were expertly balanced, so you could taste many of them. Sometimes with related cuisines (Indian and Chinese) they don't seem able to do that. Really tasty. The entrees were also damn hot. Ok, according to my brother-in-law, they usually ask what degree of heat you want, but they forgot to do this and gave us what is standard for Nepali folks. (Or...Maybe I'm dumb ordering a dish with the word "chili" in it...Still though, it was damn hot.) My husband and I both like really spicy food, so that was great. It's been a while since I had food hot enough to make my face red and my eyes tear up. Dang, Nepali people must be tough folks. Anyway, I like super-spicy food, but if that isn't your thing, make sure to let them know. My husband's gastrointestinal system doesn't like hot food (even though he does). I hope he doesn't explode our toilet. Other stuff to note: we tried suja, which is butter tea - tea with butter, milk and salt. I had Tibetan butter tea years ago but it had sugar. This had no sugar (I thought it would have sugar along with the salt). I think it would be good on a really cold day (like drinking a buttery broth) but I wasn't really into it (same for my husband). One small thing that annoyed us a little bit was that for one order of naan, you get one piece of naan. The naan was really good (we got butter naan), but just be aware of this. We will return, because it was very good! It looks like a lot of people don't know about this hidden gem of Erie, and we would like it to stay there. Please try it out!

I ordered the garlic and paneer naans to go with my main - chicken tills masala medium spice. I knew that I would need to save room for Kheer so I was betting on taking leftovers home however on my first bite I ordered a chicken makhani to go for my kids (mild spice). The naans were plentiful, delicious and soft and airy. The service was polite, attentive but when my lunch mate and I were talking they did not interrupt. Very kindly provided boxes to go and offered other dessert selections when they told us kheer was out. I cannot wait to return! The chicken tikka masala had the best sauce I have ever had - chicken was fall apart tender and incredible flavorful.

The scent hit first: warm, complex, like the food was already telling stories. Every bite delivered--bold, fresh, and humming with just the right undercurrent of heat. It's the kind of meal that makes you nod to yourself mid-chew, like, yes, this is exactly right. I don't live nearby, so a return trip isn't likely--but if I did, I'd be a regular, working my way through the menu like a mission. Delicious food. No frills. Quiet magic.

But this restaurant is amazing. The food was phenomenal. We love Indian food but this was on another level. We tried 4 different kinds of naan, all pillowy and fresh and so good with all the different sauces. Garlic was our fave. The rice is perfect, the chicken melts in your mouth, and for the most adventurous among us the goat was loved. Do yourself a favor if you're in the Youngstown area stop here, if you're just driving though stop here. Ignore everything around it. Super friendly service and crazy good fresh authentic food!

No one was in the restaurant when we arrived for dinner so the service was prompt and friendly. We ordered a big bottle of Flying Horse beer. They served complimentary papadam with a selection of sauce and "sort of" a green salad which was unusual for most Indian restaurants we've been to. For our mains we ordered the chicken vindaloo and Channa masala. Both were very tasty and the right spiciness as ordered. We also got some naan and raita. Thumbs up for the food. The restaurant got a bit busier, maybe a quarter filled, and that is when the service slipped. We asked for the check at least three times before it was brought out. We waited15 minutes... Minus one star.
