Donuts are not normally a part of my diet, but occasionally I do give in and when I am in the mood for donuts I want to go here! This is one of the rare donut shops--they actually put filling inside their filled donuts (what a concept!). Most donut shops in the area skimp on filling and icing, and then serve stale products too boot. However, every time I've been to Gurnee Donuts I've received freshly made products and the bakers didn't skimp on the fillings. read more

Gurnee donuts is by far our favorite donut place. They always have yummy fresh donuts and amazing flavors. Today they exceeded our expectation and brought an idea to life. I called last week and asked for a decorate your own donut kit for my kids and Kevin said he would make it. Wow we were amazed at how awesome it was. We discovered Gurnee Donuts one morning after driving by, coming back from an MD appt.. We were welcomed by a friendly, smiling lady who asked what we would like? I was looking but not seeing what I really love.... "Cake donut with frosting and covered in peanuts", her answer, "No problem, how many would you like?" I told her, she went in the back and came out a few minutes later with my exact request! My husband choose his and we went home with our "loot". They are all AMAZING!! Fresh, soft and delicious!! Good for me, not for my husband who has diabetes and is constantly asking to go to "Gurnee Donuts", I have to keep it to a minimum of once a week for him, but he'll never know how often I stop in for one of my custom made delights while I'm alone running errands. What he didn't know won't hurt him and it keeps his blood sugars safe. :) read more

They heard of Ube before anyone else and put them in their donut, it comes in variations of plain, ube frosted or ube frosted with coconut/toasted coconut. If you love donuts like I do, and if you live in the Gurnee area, you must - repeat must - go to Gurnee Donuts. They make everything fresh, sometimes even to order. I most highly recommend their bacon maple long john - which includes a long strip of candied bacon on top. But everything they make is phenomenal. I'm diabetic, but I couldn't care less when it comes to once in a while indulging in the glories of their donuts. They make great coffee, too! read more

Apple fritter connoisseur here. Perfect harmony between crispy, crunchy and chewy. Every donut I've tried is simply crushing on Dunkin Donuts. Coffee was great too. I live up in Beach Park and discovered this little donut shop in Gurnee. If you get in early you have a better selection. Donuts are priced similar to other donut shops in the area. The Oreo Vanilla Long John is the unsung hero of this culinary institution and it is has the most pleasing texture and taste of any doughnut I have consumed in my tenure as a human. We've always been interested in trying Gurnee Donuts' ube donut and decided to finally make the trip over the weekend. The customer service was very welcoming and they even threw in a free donut with our purchase. We tried three versions of their ube donut: regular, coconut, and fruity pebbles. Tasty donuts overall but it honestly lacked the ube taste we were hoping for. I think if they bring out more of the ube flavors, the donut will be able to separate itself from just being another donut with icing. read more

Holy moly what a donut shop!!! It's the best donuts I've had, bar none. They are meal donuts that fill you up without the tummy ache of too much grease. I happily make the drive to get these donuts, very well worth it. I actually had these donuts at my old place of employment and the solicitor that would bring them to our shop refused to tell us where he got them. So I began the hunt for these donuts and two years later and so so many donuts and tummy aches later.. Gurnee donuts surfaced and I could not be happier! read more

I have some allergy issues and a couple years ago Kevin went through the ingredient listings of all of his ingredients to insure that I would be safe to eat his donuts. I live about 2 hours north of Gurnee, and we take trips down there periodically just to get donuts. They are so very delicious!! I highly recommend this donut shop!!! read more

Used to have the greatest Donuts on the planet. People up front have an attitude unless the mother/ owner is around. Very little selection even if you get there early. Not sure what's going on. Always pick up a dozen or two. The Boston creams have hardly any custard inside sometimes you have to get halfway through the donut before you find any. Please keep quality high. Raise prices. I know some people will not come. However those are the people that should go to Dunkin Donuts. I find myself only taking a dozen when I would have ordered two dozen. because there's absolutely no selection. Yes sometimes they have Donuts in the back. I don't understand that for a second. People buy donuts on impulse and how good they look they need to be in the case of front not in the back. The blueberry Donuts used to be large an awesome now it looks like they're not putting enough baking soda or baking powder in them or they're not giving them a chance to raise they're kind of heavy and doughy. read more
