This store rocks and I think it's the best one I have experience in term of the cost, attitude and customer service. Sunny is the hero there, he knows the stuff I want to do and my project was completed in 3 hours. I have 2015 Subaru Forester touring with factory navigation and HK system and have asked around the Bay Area about the scope of work and cost. 80% of time I was told the same story " the head unit is hard to find, so you have to pay this amount of money just on the head unit". I respect their business, so I just walked away because I found the same unit with MSRP price at local Best Buy and crutchfield, so I didn't know why they told me such thing. I then reached out to Sunny in the evening on the same day and he got back to me in an hour with the break down quote. Then I asked him more questions regarding what I wanted to do, he explained to me patiently via yelp chat and eventually I made the same day "walk-in" appointment with him in the early morning. ( yes, he checked yelp at night like 11pm, and also early morning like 7am) Project was done nicely and he even found a mounting kit that fit my car perfectly( not the one shown on crutchfield) in addition, they also spliced the back up camera video feed to my new head unit so I had option to watch both of them. Furthermore, he could even squeeze an additional appointment with my friend who also wanted to replace her head unit in her 2010 Jeep after I told her I was at audio shop. They (luckily) weren't able to fit me in, so I called Guru and they got me in right away, and quoted me just $199. My car had a small leak in the trunk seal causing the amplifier to get water damaged. I took the opportunity to replace the old headunit with something more modern but still had issues wirh getting sound to the speakers. Guru was able to help test the original speakers to confirm they worked and then suggested I should upgrade the amp for better sound. I decided to have them install a spare amp I had and it really did improve the sound. Plus I was able to add in a subwoofer! I'm very pleased with how the car is sounding now. I called Guru Electronics to get a quote for carplay in my old honda and was greeted by a very experienced and pleasant person who explained me the process and estimated cost including everything i.e. parts, installation, etc. When I arrived at the shop, sunny was kind enough to explain me my options and what kind of carplay would be best suited for my needs and budget. Not only the installation took lesser time than what I expected (~2 hours), they actually delivered more than what was promised. They even managed to remap my steering controls to work with carplay (remapping doesn't work in every car, which is why they don't promise all this before). Car-related shops have a stigma of not being female friendly. And I hate that! But I beg to differ w/ Guru. Great experience, same day installation, and an honest family business. Recently got a '04 Toyota Highlander that had no bluetooth capabilities. Guru took a look @ my car and gave me 2 DDIN options (JVC KW-V25BT / JVC KW-M56BT). He drew up a quick quote including parts & labor to give me an accurate cost. After a brief ponder, I decided to go with M56BT which had CarPlay. Although it was an additional $80 - I felt no pressure from Guru to go for the costlier stereo. His son proceeded to walked to through exactly why we needed the parts ($30) and how they planned to install the parts + stereo. Gotta give props to the waiting area which had Netflix/Hulu to keep you from boredom, as well as cold water bottles on a hot day. After they were done, his son also took the time to walk me through what they had done, helped me connect the bluetooth and how the new functions/features work. During my time there, Guru let 2 customers know they needed to grab a mask before walking in, and even offered that he had some in the back for them to use. Sunny was very helpful in answering questions about replacing my daughter's 2010 Mazda 3, car stereo. The original unit was the upgraded Bose sound system and it had worked intermittently for a few months and then quit altogether. Sunny was willing to investigate for a reasonable price and had suggestions for bypassing the factory amp if that was the issue. We settled on a Pioneer stereo with Apple CarPlay, and couldn't be happier. It looks like it's always been there and the sound is better than the original (even though we did have to bypass the factory amp).
