I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with this computer shop and its manager. We initially brought in my husband's PC because the monitor would go black on startup. The manager diagnosed it as a broken motherboard and charged us $390 to fix it, claiming it came with a one-year warranty. Unfortunately, the issue was never resolved. When we returned the PC, he kept giving us the runaround, suggesting additional upgrades like a new graphics card and increasing the RAM from 16GB to 32GB. We paid another $670 for those upgrades, along with reinstalling Windows 11--only for the same problem to continue happening. On top of that, the service was extremely unprofessional. Every time we were told the device would be ready, it never was. We would show up and be told to wait an hour, which would turn into several hours, or be told to come back the next day--only for it still not to be ready. This happened repeatedly. When I expressed frustration after waiting days, he dismissed my concerns and said he had customers waiting for months, which is completely unacceptable. The shop environment itself is chaotic. He frequently speaks inappropriately about unrelated topics instead of focusing on the work, and even makes offensive comments about different groups of people. He also asks customers to do favors for him, like testing TVs or computers, which is not professional at all. In another incident, I brought in a working PS5 to sell. Without my permission or payment, he took it apart for parts. It took over a week--and my brother stepping in--for me to finally get paid. The same thing happened when I returned a monitor I had purchased from him; he said returns were allowed, but it still took a week to get my money back. He often takes devices apart, gives a quote, fails to fix them, and then moves on to the next customer, repeating the same cycle. My husband's PC was left in pieces, and parts like screws were lost--he even had to take screws from other machines to try to reassemble it. When my husband finally asked him to just put it back together so we could take it elsewhere, he said it wasn't his problem if he didn't know how'd to put it back together. To make matters worse, despite multiple requests, he has never provided receipts for the money we paid. He constantly says he'll send them "tomorrow" or have them ready next time, but never follows through. Overall, this has been a costly and stressful experience. We lost a significant amount of money and time dealing with someone who is unreliable, unprofessional, and dishonest. I strongly recommend avoiding this business. read more

I fully agree with the recent one star reviews. This guy's real name is Suleiman, although known as Brian. His Zelle account is James something. Absolutely shady, he will do anything to get your business, but once you handover your device, you are in for a never ending wait. My first bad experience was somewhere in 2020. At that time I gave him the benefit of doubt. Recently I took my MacBook which had a blown motherboard, diagnosed by Apple authorized center. I just took it to him to see if my data can be restored. He said it may not be motherboard issues. It could also be battery issue. He tried to sell me another motherboard for around $360. Anyway I left the MacBook with him with the assurance of being called back in 1 hour. Of course I received the call, but he said the issue was with the motherboard and advised me to get the motherboard replaced. I refused and asked him to give me back my MacBook after putting the things back in. He started saying that he did not have time to put it back. Anyway after 5 hours I got it back, that too I had to personally go to his shop and wait there. He charged me $60 for diagnostics for something which Apple authorized center had already diagnosed. For what? For unscrewing and screwing back again. There was no mention of diagnosis charge when I handed the laptop. At that time also he was trying to sell the motherboard and brought down the price to less than $300. Please stay away!!! read more

I honestly regret bringing my laptop here. I took in my HP foldable laptop because the screen had started bulging. The owner told me this was a common issue and said he could fix it the same day. That never happened. What followed was over a month of delays, excuses, and repeated trips back to the store. Every time I came in, there was a different reason why it was not ready. I was told to come back in an hour, then the next day, then again later. I only wanted the screen issue repaired, but instead my laptop was taken apart and the original problem was never properly resolved. What makes this even worse is that my laptop was still usable before I brought it in. After all this time and stress, it ended up in worse condition than before. The guy said it should be fine and will be ready in few hours since I tuned it off right away. Data and everything was there before I brought it to his repair shop. Hello everyone This place is absolutely terrible. Avoid going there to repair your computer. They lack the knowledge to properly fix computers. When I called, one guy said there was no diagnostic fee, but when I arrived, an older man asked me for $39. I agreed and left my computer for diagnosis, but then they quoted me $280 or more for repairs. I told them not to fix it and to return my laptop as it was, but they refused. I argued with the older man, who then told me to come back the next day at 4:00 am. He kept giving me different times to pick up my laptop. I eventually went at 8:30 am, had a heated argument with him, and even threatened to call the police. At last, I have my laptop back. Two weeks later: Hinge breaks again; Screen shorts out April-May "Warranty Fix" He agrees to fix the hinge and screen "under warranty" -- but since it was free of charge, he clearly didn't care: He ignored my laptop for weeks Never picked up the phone; When I visited in person(early May), he said he'd "just gotten the replacement display cable" and would install it on the spot 3 hours later: screen still doesn't work; Promises to "troubleshoot it next week" but then ghosts me again; In the end I picked up the laptop from him as I was moving out as I figured I could probably do a better and faster job. What I Found When I Opened It: My back case has some weird glue on it; All factory screws missing -- replaced with random junk screws; Several internal components left unscrewed; Hinge still missing the original screw -- so he never fixed it; Display cable never replaced, despite him claiming it was; Wi-Fi cable still broken, from his damage back in January. We had it back very timely and the repair was well done and reasonably priced. The other day my laptop totally died. Tried everything, including different chargers. It was dead as a door nail. When working with this business every time I walked in as a customer the guy was very unprofessional and was always talking on the phone and ignored that I was even there. He appeared to be talking to a friend or relative and not even anything business related. The business hours were never consistent with what it would say online and or they were late opening. This place was nothing short of a disaster. I brought my mother's iPad in for repairs a while back as it had a broken screen and home button issue, hoping for a quick and effective solution to my issues. However, what I got was the complete opposite. Firstly, the customer service was atrocious. Brian (I guess he's the manager) seemed disinterested and unhelpful, sat down, and was constantly on his own monitor talking to someone over the phone. The store looked very disorganized and messy, and parkings nonexistent. Finally, after dealing with the rude owner I eventually dropped my iPad off and they said they'd call me back either the same day or tomorrow, but they never did. Finally, after constant callbacks and miscommunication, I was finally able to pick up my iPad and everything looked fine until a few days later when the home button started feeling wobbly and the screen was coming off. It looked as if they didn't use any adhesive to hold the screen down at all. I wouldn't wish this level of frustration and disappointment on anyone. My advice: steer clear of ComputerWorld as they are far from reliable and competent. The one-star reviews seem more reliable and even then one-star is one too many for this establishment. I've been coming to Computer World for a few years now, selling computer and laptop odds and ends. While some of my equipment is probably too outdated to resell online or on Craigslist, Brian somehow can still give it some value through his store. Don't come in expecting the sale to be ultra lucrative, but rather you getting paid to recycle some barely useful e-waste. I have sold old laptops and even a clunky external hard drive here. Brian is quick and fair. He explains how he comes up with the price to pay you and gives you cash. The way I see it, this is place to give some old equipment a second life with its components which is one way to be more green. I haven't yet come here for computer repair, but based on my observations during my visits, the customers who are dropping off and picking up seem to be content. Even if things feel a bit hopeless for the customer bringing in electronics needing repair, he does his best to tend to the customer even when it's not something his shop typically works on. Brian provides great service and has always been nice to work with. I always check with him before I get rid of something and he has helped keep my equipment from going into e-waste. Well I call that stealing my digital information let me tell you Brian that can get pretty serious for you if I turn you in - which I am still on the fence about, so watch-out. Here's the evidence. Beware of this place. I took my MacBook Pro here for a battery replacement. Less than 1 month later the battery they installed is loose fitting and rattles inside the computer as they used cheap adhesive. The battery no longer holds charge and the bottom screws to the cover plate on the laptop have become loose leaving the cover plate unsecured. When the man behind the counter initially quoted me for the work he promised to use a genuine apple replacement battery. I recently learned that this was not the case. I came in because my laptop was shutting off prematurely and needed to fix it as soon as possible. Being new to the area, I was nervous about finding a new repair shop. Walking in, Brian (the manager) knew exactly what was going on and had all the parts on hand already and went out of his way to let me know and reassure me it would be fixed next day (and he kept his word). On top of fixing the original problem he decided to fix a lot other underlying problems (adding more RAM and was nice enough to give me a battery since mine went bad). On top of trying to fix the original problem with my laptop Brian and his people wanted to maximize the hardware optimization. So if you're looking for a place that will fix your computer problems and make sure your devices are running their best on top of everything, you've found the place. I spilled a coconut water drink on my trusty old macbook air and took it in to see if I can replace the sticky keyboard. I was told that it's a simple job, and it would be ready in 30 minutes. I was besides myself, as you can imagine. I took it home and found out the mic is not operational anymore. So I took it back and was told that there is a cable that is specific to the 2012 circa laptops. That replacement didn't do the trick, and I ended up using my phone to conduct my remote video sessions with my clients. I was very stressed. Since it was now Friday, I was told that I had to return on Monday. Stressed out again, I returned on Monday only to be told that there was nothing else he could do for me, and that the problem is due to the program I was running. I had used Zoom for over 4 years on this laptop, never having trouble with the mic. I had already paid the owner Soleiman over $300, which was $100 over the original quote at this point and although my keyboard was replaced by another keyboard from another laptop and was working, now my computer wasn't. He never correctly diagnosed the issue, or tested it after replacing random parts. Since I didn't know what else to do, and Soleiman seemed convinced that he had done all he could and was adamant that he had done a good job, I told him I wasn't satisfied, and that I would now have to go and get a new laptop. As I started to leave, he told me to "Get the fxxx out of here!". I personally have a background in Manufacturing IT which is one of the toughest areas to support especially if its for the company that makes cars in CA.... My father went here after he looked around a few sites/reviews. Apparently he came in and he was "taken care of". He had an issue on his harddrive (1TB Seagate Barracuda) on his desktop. The work performed: Swapping the HD for an SSD Windows 10 installed on SSD (Home) Fan Heatsink cleaned up All Data recovered and scanned and tested okay... When I went to see this "repair" I was pretty appalled by the quality and workmanship that was done by this store. Even a High School IT person could do better work than this store. I will go one by one on each of the items performed and the conversation provided by Brian. HD to SSD swap = The HD is a couple years old, but its a tried and true Seagate drive. It was removed and in its place...was a not so good quality SSD. Not even a Patriot or ADATA (which are not as great as Samsung or San Disk/WD but better than a silicon power SSD) I asked Brian about this drive and its quality, he replied with a "oh ive used these drives numerous times and they never break and there office is local; which it is in Fremont" - the price of the SSD = 18.99 on Amazon. His price = 49.00. Brian comment = "oh an SSD is light and doesn't need to be secured and does need to be fastened to the chassis (yikes)" Then some blabbing about not to worry and warranty....also the 3 yr warranty is part of the SSD price at CW". Amazon shows that SSD with a 3 yr warranty @ 18.99. We ended up getting the HD back. Good. Windows 10 install = Software no biggie does what it should. Fan Heat sink cleaned up = Not performed whatsoever. I will attach pictures of the "cleanup" Not even remotely close. Argument was made that it was a "rush job" and the store was busy and my dad wanted it done fast. Apparently today (9/11) Brian explained that one of his "workers" performed the job and did not clean the inside...he was also surprised why we did not bring the PC in...hmmm.... Thumbscrews were missing as well from the door. Brian argued initially that the PC never came with thumbscrews. BS. The paint marks of the screws going through the anodizing are on the door (pic attached). At least we got the hardware back along with the HD. All Data recovered and scanned and tested okay: A line item on a invoice. But no "proof" no snap of the end result from whichever program they used. No certification. When asked Brian: "In my 23 years I have never had to provide a certificate, show me this certificate so I can use it as well". If that isnt sarcasm or attitude I dont know. But quite a few IT companies provide proof. Lifelock provides this. Check google. Pretty appalled by that comment. In the end, he offered to "look at the computer again" I told him to have the HD and parts ready for my Father. His response was: "oh why are you having your Father come here and back and forth? Lots of smoke and ash and hes old." "have him come by on Monday @2" Not needed and not cool. Thankfully im smarter than a IT guy running a shop with lots of one star reviews. I run my own business along with supporting a manufacturing site during COVID. I really do not need your "comfort" Plus my father can do things himself. Minus that wonderful experience; I reached out to a few IT professionals ive personally worked with and they quoted 95.00 for the entire job. With them coming by socially distancing and working on the computer. Computer World invoiced for 193.00....there isnt need for a refund/reply (Brian might reply. W/E). Overall, id really recommend to go to Central Computers or even Geek Squad. Or go on YouTube and DIY.The overall explanations/attitude and behavior smells like OSH back lot on a clear summer day. read more
