There's a cute seating area in the front for waiting and just a quick coffee break, if you don't want a full dine-in meal. This cafe/brunch spot is kinda casual; you can walk in and grab any available table/seating. The servers will take your order and serve you. We ordered the Mexican omelette, truffle cheeseburger, and French toast. The menu is pretty standard compared to other cafes/brunch spots. The Mexican omelette had jalapeños, which made the omelette spicy, rather than the usual green peppers other restaurants put in. I don't mind it but just a FYI for those who can't eat spicy. The truffle cheeseburger came with fries but was kinda disappointing -- usually truffle dishes are pretty overpowering with the distinct truffle smell/taste but it was lacking in this dish. If anything, the cheese overpowered the whole burger. The French toast is just okay, in my opinion -- not too sweet. Overall, food was standard -- nothing outstanding. Service was OK and could be improved. One of the servers gave our dish to the table next to us and we had to point out their mistake. Mistakes happen but then I overheard them forgetting to place a food item for the same table, so I'm thinking the servers might need extra training. She also spilled water on our table.

I like the salad bar that has all the offering. The beef kofta was good, but a bit under seasoned as well as the chicken samosa. Beef kofta and lamb over rice tasted a bit healthier by using leaner meat, hence a nicer texture. The chicken tikka was a bit dry and under seasoned as well. I really enjoyed the rice and salad that went along with the meal. The lamb over rice was better tasting than the usually halal cart. I really enjoyed the sauce that was put on the side to go with my meal. I was a bit sad when the beef kofta and chicken tikka didn't come with bread. I will come back for healthier halal option. Also, it was a friendly service.

Crunchy on the outside and the inside had bits of chickpeas and a great texture. The combo of chicken and lamb over rice was a refreshing take. The gyro meat was soft and tasty, rice was seasoned and fluffy. The pickled veggies were delicious and perfect to cut down on the heaviness of the meal. Overall a lovely lunch for $13 total (paid in cash)

When it comes to Banh Mi, the Mister really knows how to dress a French baguette. One can choose from the Traditional, Lemongrass, Bulgogi Beef, BBQ pork and a new fave for me, The Breakfast Banh Mi. Breakfast Banh Mi consists of two fried runny eggs, spam, mayo, cucumbers, pickled daikon & carrots, and cilantro served on a toasted French baguette. The baguette is essential for soaking up the runny egg. Who says you can't eat breakfast for dinner! I'm a huge tea drinker and love jasmine or oolong and one can alter sugar and ice level. Both Jasmine and oolong are refreshing and go great with the Banh mi. There are other items to try such as their pho, salads, rice bowls and spicy far such as Korean wings and Rocket Rolls filled with shrimp. So, when I need to cure my frenzy, Mr. Banh Mi makes delicious house calls! "Mr. Banh Mi is a popular Vietnamese restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, known for its flavorful banh mi sandwiches, which feature fresh, in-house baked baguettes, and a variety of other Vietnamese dishes like rice bowls, noodle bowls, and appetizers such as bulgogi fries and Korean fried wings. It offers a casual, clean, and cozy atmosphere, with options for takeout and delivery, and is praised for its authentic Vietnamese coffee and modern twists on traditional favorites. Open kitchen and limited amount of seats let us keep the place cozy and intimate, just like home. We make sure to buy from local purveyors, coffee roasters, and bakers." Home is where the heart is and there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal. I have to say most Bay Ridgians enjoy dining local and in our neighborhood. I love to support neighborhood gems because majority of restaurant owners here, love their clients, establish loyalty through cooking delicious food and provide consistent great customer service. I was in the mood for a " comfort food"breakfast, you know, eggs, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, deliciousness and I found it on the menu simply named "Breakfast Sandwich". Which consists of voila: Mozzarella, avocado, tomato jam, arugula, crispy bacon, dijonaise, sunny side up egg between multigrain toasts. I ordered this sans the bacon ( requested turkey bacon which they do not have). What arrived in my plate was this decadent open faced egg sandwich that looked delectable.. and was!! Let's first talk about the wheat toast: I tasted it naked and it simply melted in my mouth. The ingredients worked well together, perfect synchronicity. I used one half of the toast to sop up any fallen ingredients. Highly recommend! For a drink, I wanted something a bit different, thus, ordered the Mango Mint Peach tea, fruity with a hint of mint. Loved it and went well with the Sammy! There are lovely options besides breakfast sandwiches like quinoa, oatmeal, granola, pancakes, French toast.. breakfast is served all day and lunch is served @noon. I arrived before 12 and was told I can order breakfast or lunch. It has a cozy, intimate vibe which I love.. one where you can dine solo, or do work or read or just enjoy the fabulous food. I will make "The Common" my home away from home. Additionally, there are cooking classes in their Park Slope location; the courses look great: Italian feast, Moroccan cooking, Wine Pairing and many more. Check out their website for more info. More to come from me.. The Common is located on 9406 3rd Avenue

My friend got the pulled pork bowl and we decided to get the pancake to share. The dishes came out pretty quickly and at the same time. It was so hearty and filling and wasn't heavy at all. The pancake also had a great taste and crunch from the skillet. It wasn't sweet at all so it was easier to eat. The portions are perfect! The staff and ambiance are so lovely and I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes.
